  3. RIP Davy. The Monkees show was part of your childhood if you were a kid in the 1960's. It was zany, and IMHO their hit records were good. Davy also had acting parts in the UK. I remember him as Ena Sharples' grandson in the legendary British television soap opera, 'Coronation Street'. This must be very hard for his family - my thoughts are with them.
  4. From Glasgow Evening Times 20/02/12 Glasgow guitarist who played with the greats By RUSSELL LEADBETTER [url=http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/glasgow-guitarist-who-played-with-the-greats-1.1148822#have-your-say#have-your-say]20 Feb 2012 THE death of Joe Moretti in South Africa brought to an end one of the most colourful tales in Scottish rock and pop. He once shared a flat with fellow session guitarists Jimmy Page and John McLaughlin, and I remember him, sometime around 1974-75, laying the last track on the Evita LP. The Glasgow-born musician was one of the great rock guitarists. Joe, 73, who died of lung cancer, played guitar on such landmark rock hits as Johnny Kidd and the Pirates’ Shakin’ All Over and Vince Taylor’s Brand New Cadillac. He was a top-rated session guitarist, who also played on fellow Scot Donovan’s hit, Mellow Yellow, on Tom Jones’ 1965 No.1, It’s Not Unusual, and on the Chris Farlowe song, Out of Time, which topped the UK charts the following year.

    Hot pics of Jimmy

Photo copyright: Doug Johnston This is a photograph of Jimmy with fan, Doug Johnston, taken during time off from recording with David Coverdale in the early 1990's.
  6. SAJ, Sorry about not attaching the photos in the first posting - I had a feeling you would be interested. I was using an internet cafe last night, and the computer was acting up very badly.
  7. I found the following on a Facebook group page. There are photographs on the site which I am having difficulty getting put up on here. They are photos of JPP partying, and tickets, and backstage passes. Source:- Facebook page entitled “I Partied With Jimmy Page and other famous bands” Carla Lynne Kluss It was 1994 and my girlfriends took me to the Coverdale/Page Concert at The Osaka Stadium in Japan. It was the second from the last tour date. After meeting the boys that night, we girls went home to our tiny apartments and basked in the fact that YES we had partied with Jimmy F#%*ing Page! The next day I received A call from Jimmy himself inviting me and my friends to the last show in Nagoya with my very own suite next to his in The Nagoya Hilton. Carla Lynne Kluss My girlfriends and I took the Bullet Train to Nagoya and went to the stadium to watch the very last show of the Japan Page Coverdale Tour. Then we went to the Nagoya hilton and were met by Jimmy Page and his attendants who showed us to my room (yes, it was reserved in my name). It was an amazing ensuite next to his. Laura, Emma and myself, the three musketeers, and Jimmy. It was too cool for words. Carla Lynne Kluss This was scanned from a wall picture I had made to honor meeting Jimmy in Japan, complete with backstage pass. Carla Lynne Kluss After we dropped our things in the room, we went back to Jimmy's and we had a few drinks and laughs. He had roomservice bring up a large cardboard box full of mix and alcohol to make the drinks he had remembered us drinking the night before. Let me tell you he got it right. There was Gin and Tonic, Peach Schnapps, Vodka, orange juice, rum and coke and Jagermeister, all in the biggest bottles he could find. Smiles all around. He had remembered perfectly. He was quite the gentleman too. He would have nothing to do with us making any drinks and proceeded to make them all. After a short while he sat in his chair in the corner of the room with his humidifier/mister going on behind his head and asked us if we wanted to hear some music. We said okay and he put on a private cassete of him and David Coverdale jamming some songs that hadn't yet been recorded. He was so cute because he was worried that it wasn't music we would've liked. Lara L. Bolton we had so much fun, both nights!!! Thank you Jimmy, I'll never forget when he called the next day and asked us to come to Nagoya, couldn't believe he was calling me, what a great Birthday Carla Lynne Kluss Without Lara, this ticket wouldn't have been possible. She went to the show the first night, met the sound engineer and scored tickets for the following night. Way to work that one, girl. What a great time we had. Lara L. Bolton Geesh I remember getting home after some late night partying with Jimmy Page only to discover that my place had been robbed, at that exact moment Jimmy called (I leaned over to my girlfriend Emma and said 'its Jimmy Flipping Page on my phone) me and asked if I would like to come to Nagoya with a few friends...did I???? YES - we went and continued the blast for days!!! to be 23 again...lol Lisa Poulson Ok one story In the 80's i was at club soda and i was working at a local recording studio and jimmy page walked up to me and said in his british accent "i'd really like to take you out to supper" to which i replyed " well have your studio call my studio" and then walked away. Just then this girl ran up to me and she had overheard the conversation she said "omg that was jimmy page you just turned down" to which i said look at him he looks like a california raisin, which he did, You gotta remember I was very young then to 23 or 24 years old. I did later in fact take him to see darby play at 86 street club late that month
  8. In the early of the part of the second show, Jack Bruce is interviewed about Cream touring the US. The sharp eyed amongst you will spot Charlotte Martin several times in the footage. Overall, I enjoyed the programme - Jimmy features throughout, but it was also nice to hear input from Ian Hunter.
  9. Love the photograph of you on Castle Terrace! Maybe one of the highflyers in the building directly behind you would be interested, as that building houses some of the highest earners in Edinburgh. How did you come to own the vehicle? Was it used by Jimmy or his wife at that time? I ask because Jimmy can't drive. How much are you looking for?

  12. New LZ tribute group 'Hats Off To Led Zeppelin' is to be managed by the late Peter Grant's son, Warren, for 2012. Hats off to Led Zeppelin - a stunning tribute to the greatest rock band ever! The only UK tribute officially endorsed by Marshall! From 2012 they are to be managed by Peter Grant's son, Warren! An extraordinary honour for a tribute to the mighty Zeppelin! · http://www.youtube.c...eature=mhsn#p/a www.hatsofftoledzeppelin.co.uk for tour dates Find them on Facebook, Follow them on Twitter @hotledzeppelin
  13. Thank you. It was in fact me who had put the above information on the LZ Trivia section on18/11/11. Perhaps you had already read the article on your own account years ago. Anyway, Sam says he is not aware of any official gigs. EDIT: I checked the band out on Wikipedia, and it turns out it was Deep Purple they had supported - I knew it had been a supergroup, just got the wrong one!! Source:- Wikepedia After getting some attention with their second album Exercises, released in 1972, Nazareth supported Deep Purple on tour, and issued the Roger Glover-produced Razamanaz, in early 1973.[5] This collection spawned two UK Top Ten hits, "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy".
  14. I should like to thank Webmaster Sam for answering the above query by private message. I am amazed no one else knew the answer.
  15. Hi R. Thanks for you kind comment . I am also giving details here of the Da Vinci Exhibition on at the National Gallery for anyone who is interested, because it is the most complete display ever. NATIIONAL GALLERY Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan Date and time 9 November 2011 – 5 February 2012 Sainsbury Wing ‘Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan’ is the most complete display of Leonardo’s rare surviving paintings ever held. This unprecedented exhibition – the first of its kind anywhere in the world – brings together sensational international loans never before seen in the UK. Leonare artist While numerous exhibitions have looked at Leonardo da Vinci as an inventor, scientist or draughtsman, this is the first to be dedicated to his aims and techniques as a painter. Inspired by the recently restored National Gallery painting, The Virgin of the Rocks, this exhibition focuses on Leonardo as an artist. In particular it concentrates on the work he produced as court painter to Duke Lodovico Sforza in Milan in the late 1480s and 1490s. As a painter, Leonardo aimed to convince viewers of the reality of what they were seeing while still aspiring to create ideals of beauty – particularly in his exquisite portraits – and, in his religious works, to convey a sense of awe-inspiring mystery.
  16. I am in a bit of a hurry in the moment, so no time to check if this magazine has been mentioned on the forums before - when I was in the supermarket this morning, I noticed a Limited Edition copy of 'Guitarist' magazine featuring 100 guitarists (including Jimmy, of course, but also a good number of US axemen). It is priced at £9.99 and looks very impressive indeed. I have checked their website, but can't see any mention of it. http://www.musicradar.com/guitarist EDIT:- I have now checked the internet, it looks like a limited edition of this was released in 2009. Now, I don't know if there have been any updates since, all I can say is that my local Tesco supermarket seems to have taken delivery of a significant quantity of this magazine. Even if it hasn't been updated, it is a worthwhile buy for anyone who missed it the first time around.
  17. http://www.tate.org....es/default.shtm I am posting this here for those of you who have an interest in the Pre-Raphaelites – the exhibition starts in the autumn of 2012. Pre-Raphaelites: Victorian Avant-Garde 12 September 2012 – 13 January 2013 About | Visiting information | Book tickets Combining rebellion and revivalism, scientific precision and imaginative grandeur, the Pre-Raphaelites constitute Britain’s first modern art movement. This exhibition will bring together over 150 works in different media, including painting, sculpture, photography and the applied arts, revealing the Pre-Raphaelites to be advanced in their approach to every genre. Led by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (PRB) rebelled against the art establishment of the mid-nineteenth century, taking inspiration from early Renaissance painting. The exhibition will establish the PRB as an early example of the avant-garde: painters who self-consciously overturned orthodoxy and established a new benchmark for modern painting and design. It will include many famous Pre-Raphaelite works, and will also re-introduce some rarely seen masterpieces including Ford Madox Brown’s polemical Work 1852 1865 and Philip Webb and Burne-Jones’s The Prioress’s Tale wardrobe of 1858. The exhibition will show the Pre-Raphaelite environment to be widely encompassing in its reach across the fine and decorative arts, in response to a fast-changing religious and political backdrop, and in its relationship to women practitioners.
  18. Rock Historian, I stayed in the town of Sorrento which is south of Rome - from that base I was able to travel to the island of Capri(full of young guys trying to pick up wealthy older women), visit Pompeii (brilliant, especially the brothel where the clients were caught in flagrante by the molten lava from Vesuvius!!),and went to Monte Cassino (site of historic WW2 battle). Florence is breathtaking - but be careful, there is quite a bit of crime (surprising, but true). Naples is also in travelling distance of Rome, and is worth a look. I was apprehensive about going to Naples due to the stories that it is unsafe, but I found it o.k. My advice regarding eating out in Italian cities would be to look for the cafes and restaurants in the back streets. The restaurants which are close to e.g. St Mark's Square in Venice are prohibitively expensive. The cafes near iconic buildings operate a system whereby if you sit down for your coffee, you are charged considerably more than if you stand up. If you visit churches in Italy, and there is a lady in your group, make sure that she has her shoulders covered. I saw females visitors physically thrown out of a church in Naples for having uncovered arms. I hope you enjoy your trip, and have a safe journey.
  19. Regarding "The JimmyPage.com Team", the word 'team' suggests there is more than one cognitively challenged person involved in this mayhem. By now, Jimmy must be well aware that "The JimmyPage.com Team" leaves a lot to be desired - and do something constructive about it, like taking his business elsewhere.
  20. 'Sagittarius Rising' I am really glad you liked it. I am not a musician myself, therefore my understanding of it is limited somewhat. I was pleased that someone discussed LZ's music from an academic musician's perspective.
  21. I wanted to post a copy of this item from my articles database for the musicians on the site. Popular Music (2008) Volume 27/1. Copyright © 2008 Cambridge University Press, pp. 53–76 cambridgejournals.pdf
  22. Miss Melanie, Grateful thanks for summing this whole episode up so graphically - I have an image of the product you have suggested above in my mind . I reckon that a lot of the people who will spend good money on DWII, are those who will put it up for auction on Ebay in the near future. The diehard longterm LZ fans are being priced out of the market, which is what happened with JP's book. The expensive postage and packaging is a further annoyance. Perhaps they are gathering in money to pay a bonus to the mental genius who writes JP's website captions.
  23. Robert travelling recently either to, or from, Nashville.
