  1. Gettin round to hearing this for the first time. The band's Running Bear phase! Clever title for EV's release referencing the Freddie King t-shirt. I might have titled it 'Press Record/Play to Record' for the taper's back story! The last thing I hear on the tape is Robert saying 'good evening.' Another encore? Most shows around this period had multiple encores. Most commonly Breakdown followed R&R. Not a bad audience recording at all.
  2. I haven't heard it myself but there's a 2LP set called Thank You It's Complete. I think the WLL medley is still edited though. I also have an LP called Loose Ends which has Thank You from this show plus a bunch of other rare tracks that are nice to have. Fits into my collection anyway.
  3. I like the 4LP set Complete BBC Performances on Toasted if you don't mind inclusion of the 1969 shows. And who would mind!? The Toasted set still doesn't include Thank You and the WLL medley is the original radio edit so it's cut short at Mess o' the Blues and doesn't include For What It's Worth. FYI.
  4. Off to the land down under after this one. What a finish! Amazing medley and encores!
  5. It was the "Shaft" phase which lasted about a week! The "Rave On" phase came and went even more quickly. Curiously, STH was pushed to later in the set on this night.
  6. How about the amount of White Summer that's on the Victoria Theatre April 1980 rehearsal? He was THAT serious about keeping in the set. A bit baffling.
  7. You sure visit alot of unrelated places, reids. 😛
  8. Second of the Tokyo twinbill to finish off the evening.
  9. Thanks, gibsonfan, for your detailed assessments of these and other shows. Always an interesting read. Much appreciated!
  10. Great story behind the taping of this show. First 30 minutes missing because the taper had one 90 minute cassette which ran out during Moby Dick so he flipped it to catch the start of WLL! Oh well. Great quality for a 71 audience tape. Then the guy wanders backstage after the main set with tape recorder in full view and encounters one of the Zeppelin 'heavies.' Tells him he's hoping to catch the band for an interview. OK fine. Phew! Oops, encore starting so he rushes out to continue recording. What an adventure!
  11. As much as some people may roll their eyes every time Black Dog comes on the radio, enjoy it when you hear it! Listen to the first two shows of 71 - Belfast & Dublin. That vocal simply was not sustainable on stage, much as he tried that first night. As I'm typing, Robert is singing Stairway in Copenhagen that same year. Amazing!!
