I don't think he was portrayed as a wimp at all. Not everyone in the world is super confident, especially in high school. Many teens deal with a lot of insecurities and I think his character was very real. Jason Bateman's character wasn't portrayed as the bad guy either. Again, I felt it was a situation that can and does happen in real life. Oh well. I liked the movie

That is a shame since it did get great reviews here as well. Perhaps i'll wait until dvd and rent it. I'm mad Kite Runner left the theaters in a flash. I wanted to see it

Actually I've heard mixed reviews not from critics but friends who have seen it. They felt it was really slow moving and missing something. I've been a bit hesitant to see it as a result.
