  1. Everyone I've heard who's met Robert has nothing but positive things to say. Unfortunately Eternal Light enjoys posting dribble and takes great joy in frequently stating that he's not nice
  2. He didn't steal Jimmy Page since Jimmy and Robert weren't working together. That was Jimmy's choice to work with him as Robert had his own band and projects going
  3. I hear what you're saying. The originals certainly were more "raw" sounding. I suspect had a second volume come to fruition, it would have been quite different I didn't see the concert Aqua and ledded went to but I've heard it and it was pretty amazing. Robert did a Honeydrippers set during his 85 tour which was quite fun.
  4. I think Robert's sense of humour sometimes gets misinterpreted. I wouldn't always take his poking fun at people so seriously. Robert commented that in his opinion, it's one thing to emulate people of the past - i.e. his doing some Elvis moves. But David is a contemporary and he felt it was in poor taste for him to copy Robert's moves. Obviously I don't know Robert so I can't speak for him but my suspicion is he just felt David wasn't being very original.
  5. Sadly I don't think so. Robert was planning to work on a volume II with Ahmet Ertegun but when he passed away, Robert commented that there'd be no point now
  6. What a great story Mrs. Plant Pretty well every account of those who have met Robert have all said how incredibly kind and gracious he is. I'm so glad you had that opportunity and a great photo to remember it by!
  7. Congratulations! That's awesome news. It will get easier the longer you are away from it and you will feel sooooo much better.
  8. Interesting. My brother has I think the first 27 Dick's Picks and he stopped collecting them. Found they seemed to be too similar in set list, which for the Dead is not a common thing. I'll have to mention this new series to him.
  9. I've not noticed it so much in live dvds but I've seen him do it in concert a lot and in photos. Not that I've paid it much attention
  10. That's a hard question to answer because to me, their albums fall into a couple of different categories - studio, experimental and live and I like all three for various reasons. They were more known for their live recordings but if you're not familiar with them at all, I'd suggest American Beauty and Workingman's Dead. Not my favorites but just to give you an introduction. I tend to listen to their live albums which I would highly recommend Europe 72, Live Dead and One From The Vault and Two From the Vault.
  11. Wow, that's a name from the past! I know my brother had one of her albums but can't quite remember what it sounded like. I always think of her from Happy Days
  12. They say chocolate contains antioxidants which are good for you Hope that helps the justification
  13. You look great Manders! Looks like you had a good time although the snow is making me cold . Alessandra - nice to see you. You're very pretty.
  14. I liked the albums with Rolle and Schon but I'm more drawn to the jazzier, experimental sounds. As far as I know, he only did one album with John McLaughlin but he had a couple of devotional records - one was with Alice Coltrane and I can't remember offhand who he did the other one with. Didn't care for much of what he did late 70s into the 80s. A bit too pop sounding for me.
  15. I like the Honeydrippers project. I remember seeing Robert in 1985 and he encorporated some of it in the show. Great fun. It would have been interesting to see what the Volume II would have been like
  16. Caravanserai is my favorite album. I prefer his earlier albums as well. He also did some devotional albums that are fairly interesting though I think hard to find now. Another great one is Love, Devotion and Surrender with John McLaughlin. Stunning version of Coltrane's "A Love Supreme."
  17. Interesting. I didn't know she put out a blues album. I think of her earlier days as being more soulful singer/songwriter. Must look into this. Always loved her voice.
  18. Don't worry. In the words of a wise Englishman, "all will be revealed." In the meantime, happy fonduing
  19. If I revealed his identity, I'd have to shoot you
  20. Identical twin or is this another mystery of why you never saw Clark Kent and Superman in the same room at the same time
  21. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. I did
  22. I love Emerald Isle!! My family and I used to go there when I was a kid. So beautiful though it's been a long time since I've been back.
