  1. If we are talking about the depth of lyrics, it's a good thing we aren't mentioning Pink Floyd :P

Do you know this one?....By the way, it's not about Dogs that go woof.

    Dogs (Waters, Gilmour) 17:06

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.

You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,

You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.

And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,

You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.

Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,

A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,

So that when they turn their backs on you,

You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.

You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you

    get older.

And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,

Hide your head in the sand,

    Just another sad old man,

All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.

And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.

And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw

    around.

So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,

    Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.

Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.

Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.

If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this

    maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending

That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.

And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner

And everything's done under the sun,

And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.

Who was trained not to spit in the fan.

Who was told what to do by the man.

Who was broken by trained personnel.

Who was fitted with collar and chain.

Who was given a pat on the back.

Who was breaking away from the pack.

Who was only a stranger at home.

Who was ground down in the end.

Who was found dead on the phone.

Who was dragged down by the stone.

  2. About the Stairway to Heaven Plagerism, I shall settle this once and for all.

And here is the Taurus intro:

    RODRIGUEZ!

My first time seeing him, too :)

There you go STZ, I'm sure you will have a great time. The SOP looks like an amazing venue, very intimate.....Enjoy.

  4. I don't like Led Zepplin for many reasons. I have stated my opinion as to why. They have stolen a lot of songs from other people without acknowledgement.

If you really know about music then you would know this or perhaps you are burying your head in the sand. You say I am only 17 Wrong. You say I have a lot to listen too. Perhaps I do. I have spent nearly 30 years collecting records so think I can form an opinion on Led Zepplin.

    .

I did not say you were 17, that post was a reply to 'Stairway is NOT stolen's' comment..............as for the rest of your post, well I am well informed on the history of LZ, 40+ years listening/reading has seen to that.

Edited to add. Thanks Sathington, I had not refreshed the page, so I did not see your response.

  5. I missed the Aerosmith gig in Dallas, Texas that was on Friday, August 22, 2014. Two days ago. It seems that the only one song of theirs that I would have really enjoyed was "Kings and Queens". I prefer the old school Aerosmith of the 70's. I would have gone if I knew they were going to play "Lord of the Thighs" if I knew they were going to play it. (they seem to only alternate one or two songs from their current setlist). It seems that they did, in fact, play it at the two previous gigs before the Dallas show. They played "Mama Kin" instead.

Okay. Here is the kicker: Please Read:

I had to work today from 2pm - 8pm. About an hour after I got home, my dad says to come here. He took out his phone and showed me a picture of a group of people sitting around a table at an outdoor bar. He asks me if I recognized a guy in the picture and I said, "yes, that is Joe Perry from Aerosmith". It seems that others were taking pictures too because 2 men and one older very attractive blond were looking and posing for the camera forward and Joe was looking directly at my dad's cellphone. He then showed me a few more and it was Joe "Fucking" Perry. In one picture my father was literally about 3-5 feet to Joe's right. This was earlier today at a bikers bar called Strokers on Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas "Fucking" Texas. I asked my dad if he said anything to Joe and my dad just said, "Hey, how's it going"? Joe was there to sponsor and promote his new line of BBQ sauces.

Not that I am mad now because it is already after the fact, but I told my dad that he should have called or texted me and I would have quickly have had someone cover the rest of my shift and I would have gone there ASAP. I might even have gone home real quick and grabbed a couple of my Led Zeppelin dvds and definitely my dvd of Aerosmith and Jimmy Page at the Marquee Club and Castle Donnington from 1990. I would have given him my Led Zeppelin dvds and asked him to sign my Aerosmith and Jimmy Page dvd. I would also have said to him that Jimmy Page is my favorite guitarist and the He, Joe "Fucking" Perry is my second favorite guitar player. I do not think that that would offend him because I am fairly certain Joe would have agreed with me. I believe that Jimmy is Joe's idol. I would have asked him about that too.

Lastly, I would have said, "Hey Joe, the next time you talk to Jimmy, tell him that His #1 fan is named Chris ***** and that he lives in Plano "Fucking" Texas.

Lastly, like I said, I am not mad but the more I think of it, this could have been one of the best days of My life. I do not know what the Fuck my dad was thinking by not calling me. By the way, my dad is not a hard-core biker. He has a Yamaha motorcycle and he only rides on Sundays in the summer time when the weather is nice.

    Holy "Fucking" Shit!!!

Seems as though Joe had a lucky escape....(only kidding).

  6. Agree to disagree. I only like a couple of Who songs, whereas Led Zeppelin there are only a couple of Songs I don't like.

Plus Page is a better Guitarist than Townsend

Seeing as that you are only seventeen years old, for that "You Are Forgiven" (get it ?) You have a lot to listen to....May I ask how can there be ANY Led Zeppelin songs you don't like ?.

  7. ^^^^ Well hello and goodbye. I love both bands equally so I'm not going to go down the "Who's Better Who's Best" road. Except to say that PT's lyrics are far and above anything that Planty an crew could come up with, so Mr Cut and Run that is something that you are definitely right about.

  8. Well we do have plenty of bumper stickers and slogans here...I just wasn't aware that "....DO IT BETTER" was a thing. Maybe it was just a 70s thing. Anyway, I'll have to look out for one to add to my collection!

Bumper stickers here in the UK ? an extremely rare site indeed, usually only seen on the car of some half brained boy racer. In fact I can't recall seeing a bumper sticker of any kind for a long time, it's just not the done thing here.

  9. Well done PF. Losing 6 balls is a bummer though.

Weather forecast OK for today. Not exactly burning hot. I live in the country and the course is on the coast so it can vary. JTM will enlighten us?

I can't see Rory blowing this. He and Fowler tee off at 2.35pm. Should be a cracker of a round. I would love to see Sergio do well. If Rory hits the fairways the Claret Jug will be his

Monthly medal for me today. Tee off 10.20. Looking forward to it as I have been playing well. Just never know?

There's more blue sky than cloud over my part of the Wirral, looking at the trees and bushes out of my living room window I see there is hardly any breeze and I see from the live pictures from the TV the conditions down the road in Hoylake are similar. Things are looking good for the golfers today after yesterdays changeable conditions. We had half an hour or so of really heavy rain shortly after play finished yesterday but not the expected thunder and lightning, so fingers crossed today is looking good.

  10. Where's the bad weather CP??? Rory running away with it right now...lead is up to 5 strokes!

I'm only about three miles as the crow flies away from the course, the predicted weather here for The Wirral has not arrived thankfully.

People are going to be spilling out of the course soon due to the early finish they'll be looking for somewhere to eat and drink so it's likely to get busy locally a lot earlier than it would have done.

  11. Sorry this post is late, I feel for you, my Mum and Dad both died within a few months of each other, both aged 84. Believe me, and I am not a religious man, when you go to her grave, all your thoughts will be happy ones, you will spend ages talking to a gravestone, and you will walk away feeling really good. Heartfelt codolensces from myself. She will be with you forever.

Thanks Joe. Mum passed one month and one day after her 80th birthday, she wanted to be cremated and her ashes scattered in the rose garden at Landican cemetery over here on the Wirral same place as my Dads ashes where scattered. Thanks again.
