I went to the shows in Munich in November 1998 and the last night of the tour in Frankfurt 1998 - standing in front of the stage Robert Plant looked like a giant and Jimmy Page? ... Well, I've never seen him play better (and I saw hin four times with Zep among other times) - we knew, we had seen history as we drove homewards. Then they played the short spot at the Amnesty-Benefit in Paris and til this day I cannot understand Plant's decision calling it quits.
They were simply awesome and everybody seemed so happy playing together.
Even after 25 years those memories stay fresh in my mind, no matter how much time passes.

I too attended Frankfurt! Front row right side. My fondest memory is tthroughout the show a young German attendee repeatedly shouted requests for Train Kept A Rollin'. Having already seen them so many times that year, I thought to myself that's one request that will never be honored. Much later in the show, towards the end if memory serves correct, they indeed launched into Train Kept a Rollin. The German went into convulsions, experiencing a total ear-gasm in the front row of Festhalle.

I also attended Oberhousen, but I got stuck in traffic near the venue and missed nearly half the show. Fortunately, a friend I met a few months later in Koln shared with me a nearly complete video recording of the Oberhousen concert. It's a real shame it seems no one videotaped Frankfurt.

... and what a helluva gig that was !!!

To this day one of the best gigs I've ever attended. I recall a light fog blanketing Sheperds Bush after the sun set, shortly before the doors were opened. "The Old Devils are back!" Robert exclaimed onstage, repeating the words on the front cover of Uncut's latest issue. All of their new material from Walking into Clarksdale came across exceedingly well. It was truly a triumphant return, leading into one of the greatest summer's of my life as a global Traveling Led Head on the world tour. 25 years ago. I feel so old.

Correct. Interestingly enough, Charlie Jones (Plant’s son in law) has also played with Goldfrapp, Souisxie, Page & Plant & most recently The Cult (as a touring member). He posts a good bit via Instagram.

I attended Page/Plant at the Shepherds Bush Empire in March 1998. Long prior to the doors opening, a London taxi cab pulled up out front and delivered Charlie Jones, who came bounding out towards the artist's entrance. I'm sure he traveled in luxury a fair bit during the Page/Plant era, but I was impressed in that moment by his down to earth approach to what was widely considered at the time to be a gig of massive importance -- the UK return of Page/Plant and in support of their new album!

Yes, I'm sure - there's 16min of the rehearsals (incl. "Here Comes The Rain" by The Cult) and also an40min- interview with Robert

How interesting! I actually haven't seen this video footage before. According to my notes, in March 1990 rehearsals for the upcoming European tour were held in Salcombe as it was close to Phil Johnstone's expectant wife Frances. A rehearsal studio in Salcombe with gothic windows -- the game is afoot! Actually, Chris Blackwell used to be pretty responsive on social media to inquiries and if he is still is then he may recall precisely where this was held.

    Hi Steve.

The February 12 show is reckoned to be one of the best sounding Zep boots from the tour, perhaps even the best ever with all the rumours about official involvement in its sound, but also includes a not fully on top of things vocal performance from Plant. Remarkably clean and balanced sound, a not top-rank performance.

The March 27 show is characterised in one review as "Led Zeppelin’s final show of their 1975 tour at the LA Forum is one of the longest, heaviest and self-indulgent on record." With extra-long versions of showpieces 'Dazed and Confused', 'No Quarter', a performance of 'Trampled Underfoot' that Page has reckoned the best ever (including a sidetrip into 'Gallows Pole'), it also allows for including a Mike Millard recording amongst the shows featured in this list.

Two shows, same year, completely different sound, performance levels, and with the March 27 show an opportunity to feature the work of a taper who contributed, I would argue, so much to fans' appreciation of live Led Zeppelin that without his tapes many would find collecting audience-taped Zep boots an endlessly frustrating exercise in aural disappointment.

    Michael

The New York & LA '75 shows are indeed a cornucopia of sounds, scenes and sentiments. Feb 12th is a personal favorite. The picture disc bootlegs of it I'll probably keep the remainder of my life.

    Lights.......Camera........Action!!!

Love it! Like the Rittenhouse shooting, I could watch this all day. I hope the impact from that camera crane gave him a skull fracture.

I thoughts Russia was going to roll through the Ukraine in a couple of weeks.  We can all start screaming 10% for the big guy with absolutely no proof.

Russia would have rolled through the Ukraine in a couple of weeks were it not for the United States and it's allies continuing to wage a proxy war against them. There's at least $30 BILLION in Ukraine funding that is completely unaccounted for and there's a paper trail a mile long implicating Biden getting his cut in a number of deals with foreigners.

The right will scream open borders, caravans, illegal immigrants flooding our borders every election cycle. The funny thing is, they have never come up with any solutions. Never once.

Ok, I'll play and then if you ask nicely perhaps I'll run for President. Illegal immigration? I got this. On day one I'd impose a THREE YEAR moratorium on ALL immigration. That means no B1 work visas, no vacation visas, no naturalization ceremonies, nothing. Essentially, if you're a US citizen you can get in and out, but if an illegal alien invader you are free to leave but you ain't getting back in for three years. The next step is mass deportations the likes of which you would never imagine. I don't care if you've been here illegally  three days or thirty years, if you get swooped up your ass is getting deported within one week. Finally, the next person who attempts to cross the border illegally will take two to the chest and one to the head. Wash, rinse, repeat for as long as necessary.

I still have not watched any of the footage. Just read about it. Nothing I read has inspired me to actually watch it. Eric Clunkhead has bored me for 40 years.

Eric's playing still thrills me from time to time in a live setting, but I'd like him to explain how in the hell does performing The Yardbirds material in a reggae style pay tribute to Jeff Beck whatsoever? it was Eric who was into reggae music, not Jeff. I don't know, maybe I've just become too jaded with the whole scene. I myself seldom even listen to rock music anymore.

Jimmy Page conspicuous by his absence. If you had told me 20-30 years ago that Johnny Depp would play at a Jeff Beck tribute instead of Jimmy Page, I would have laughed.

Jeff had invited Jimmy to jam with him at least twice while in Japan and he flatly declined. No way Jimmy performs for Jeff now that Jeff's gone. Frankly, it seems he didn't miss much. The tribute show is a snooze, with nearly everyone sounding underrehearsed and looking terribly old. I gave up when EC presented The Yardbirds material in a slow, reggae style.

  11. Zelensky resurfaces once again far outside the borders of his warring country, this time in Japan, after traveling comfortably around the world using NATO aircraft.

The Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Zaluzhny, also disappeared for more than 10 days.
