  1. Jimmy played Rock, Blues and Folk. SRV played Rock, Blues and Jazz. Doesn't seem to me that Page was more versatile then Stevie. Page was more influential, surely. He came to the scene 10+ years earlier than Stevie. So all of Stevie's solos sound the same to you? That is rather rubbish! Stevie was known for making a solo more interesting the longer it goes. Listen to his version of "Little Wing" or his song "Lenny". Page doesn't even come close to that! Of course, this is a matter of personal taste. I enjoy Zep's music more than SRV's, but Page didn't write the Zep songs alone.
  2. True that. And he never had the "Zep tone" again on these P&P shows. If you listen to the official recordings like TSRTS or HTWWW... he had a big sound!
  3. Nobody posted this before. Here is "Communication Breakdown" version from the bonus disc. Sounds really good! If the rest also sounds as good... Can't wait for the release! https://www.rollingstone.de/exklusive-songpremiere-led-zeppelin-communication-breakdown-live-1102163/
  4. I agree with the thread starter. I was/am dissapointed with the releases as well and only bought I and II. When they announced the whole campaign I thought they'd release more interesting stuff. The companion disc for I was great. Nice to have a live show from 1969 in a better quality than the bootleg version. The bonus disc for "II" was boring and so I didn't feel the need to buy the other releases. I mean buying them for only 1-2 songs / demos that have not been avalible before?? I listened to most of the unreleased stuff on youtube and found most of it boring. I was hoping for alternative takes with different solos, different vocals etc. Different mixes are not very interesting. What happened to things like that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkymn83webk I was really hoping Page would choose more interesting material. Who care if it is already out on bootleg or if the band messeed-up? Karaoke-versions are not needed at all. He is way too professional in releasing stuff when it comes to playing mistakes. He was never that professional on stage as he pretends to be and always played plenty of mistakes in every concert. So what's the deal in hiding them? It was always part of his playing. This re-release campaign feels like a huge missed opportunity...
  5. Yes I agree. Jimmy played great during the 1998 P&P tour and ok during the 1995 tour. But IMO it was not even close to his playing from 1968-1973. His right hand technique changed in the late 70s / early 80s. He started using the whole arm instead of just using the wrist for alternate picking.
  6. The Jimmy Page pre 1974 is one of my favourite players. After that it seemed that he lost his passion for playing the guitar and was more interested in getting the next shot of heroin and the next bottle of Jack Daniels. He never got his playing together like it was before. This is so sad. His generation of guitar players like Blackmore, Iommi, Beck and Clapton has done a lot better than him. They still play really good these days. IMO Jimmy wasted his talent. When I first stared playing guitar, Jimmy was my undisputed hero. After many years of playing myself I found it hard to listen to many bootlegs from 1975 onwards because Jimmy was so "off" on a lot of shows. It hurt to hear him play like he did. Still there are a lot of good shows from the later days. I don't get why everyone thinks that good technique and feeling don't fit together. There are many examples of players who play technically at a high level and have a lot of feeling. Especially outside rock music.
  7. I don't know why everyone pigeonholes these three players. Only because they once played together as G3? They are all totally different. Malmsteen is a neoclassical shredder. He doesn't know what the word "feeling" means. Vai is more of a whammy bar player it seems. Never got into his style of playing. Satriani is and was never a shredder. He has a beautiful tone and has a nice feeling. He was the perfect fit when Blackmore left Deep Purple. Anyone listened to bootlegs from then? I like Segovia. He was the pioneer of classical guitar. He was a purist though and thought every other guitar playing than classical was crap.
  8. We already have it all in b/w so it would be great to see the full performance in colour!! Well, if not, I'm also happy with the b/w footage. Looking forward to new footage!
  9. No, it was filmed in b/w. Every frame must be coloured seperately. But there are pictures in colour of this show: http://www.ledzepconcerts.com/concertdates/cd.php?id=lz19690317
  10. It's Danmark. In the Royal Orleans forum they are talking about coloring the video. But thats a pile of work!! Would be great though to see!
  11. "Thank You" Southampton 22.01.1973. Really great sound!
  12. Yeah, I don't now what's the problem with the Beat Club footage. They dubbed parts of this footage with "Whole lotta love" as video clip. What promos do we have else (where the video fits to the sound, not like?? "Communication Breakdown" of course from the official DVD. Than I read in "Concert File" that there was a video for "Good times bad times", but the video never surfaced. And there was shot another "Communication Breakdown" video.

  14. You all forgot the Beat Club 1969 footage! Though just lip synch, it's pretty cool footage of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and "You Shook Me". Wasn't it rumored that it was played live? Anyway, great and historic video from very early Zep.
  15. Hi again, Steve! I think it was posted here somewhere but I couldn't find it with the search function.... Do you know which tracks Jimmy, JPJ and Bonzo played on Family Dogg's "A way of life". ???
  16. I don't know. Seems it is only avalible in europe. Like some stuff I clicked on is "not avalible in your country".
  17. Here you have 3 complete Zeppelin Documentary DVD's. Seems the company posted them on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8jEyheuo8k&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mzwA02Pqt4&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qUeVd1NtGk&feature=related
  18. For all Bonham Fans. This is one of his best Moby Dick. Its from Earls Court May 25th!!!! Much better than from the 24th I think.
  19. Yes I know. Perhaps this (Buxton) concert lead into the P & P project.
  20. I once found it while searching for Page & Plant videos. I think its great to see this. Its the earliest video that I know from the P & P project (except Knebworth 1990).
