Administrators sam_webmaster Posted March 12, 2013 Administrators Share Posted March 12, 2013 Ad for cancelled show at the Cole Field Hose, University of Maryland, Sept. 20, 1970: In 1970, a fraternity on campus invested $7,000 to bring Led Zeppelin to the Cole Field House. The show was cancelled after university officials said it violated university rules of only five major concert programs being held in Cole Field House per year and also cited concerns over the logistics of the concert. SteveAJones
Very interesting and previously unknown! Come to find out Cole Field House capacity at the time was about 12,000 so it certainly was a suitable venue. Seems the fraternity would have made a fair amount of profit on their $7,000 investment had university officials allowed it.
Sticks of Fire
Wow that would have been the day after the now famous early and late shows from MSG, NY on the September 19th (with the late show being a tour classic).
