Mudbugclub Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Bit of fun this, but I do like the old country stuff. My song is - Jerry Reed - She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft). Country songs have some great song titles! http://www.thisdayincountrymusic.com/birthdayno1 Quote
in_the_evening Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Begging to You - Marty Robbins. Love current country music, not so much the older stuff. Quote
Walter Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 The Ways to Love a Man - Tammy Wynette I am so over current country. I feel like it lost its individuality about 5-6 years ago and now most of the male singers sound very similar and the lyrics are about either a.) being a crazy redneck, or b.) military/patriotism. in_the_evening Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) The Ways to Love a Man - Tammy Wynette I am so over current country. I feel like it lost its individuality about 5-6 years ago and now most of the male singers sound very similar and the lyrics are about either a.) being a crazy redneck, or b.) military/patriotism. I tell everyone that today's country reminds me of 80's power pop. It barely resembles the country music of the 60's and 70's. Which is why I like it, haha! My brother feels as you do Walter, he'll say "That is NOT country". For me, the optimism in today's country music reminds me of the innocence of the 50's rock. Blake Shelton (Who Are You When I'm Not Looking) Do you pour a little something on the rocks Slide down the hallway in your socks When you undress do you leave a path Then sink to your nose in a bubble bath? or Blake Shelton (Sure Be Cool if You Did) You don't have to throw back your pretty pink lemonade shooter And lean a little closer You don't have to keep on smiling that smile that's driving me wild And when the night is almost over Meet me in the middle of a moonlit Chevy bench seat And do a little bit of country song, hanging on You don't have to keep me falling like this But it'd sure be cool if you did Of course, I like more than Blake, but the lyrics just seem to be so innocent and light. OK, sorry to derail the OP, hopefully others will check in for their birthdate as well. Edited April 10, 2014 by in_the_evening Quote
