TheZeppyWanderer
The 2 major tabloids/redtops in the UK are 'The Sun' and The Daily Mirror'. They are classical British 'Prince and the actress' , 'MP and the callgirl' , 'Footballer and the booze' type scandalrags. They specialise in dirty laundry, and there are few if any stories they won't touch - witness the Princess Diana sagas , during her tragic lifetime. If you have a scandal, or a skeleton in your cupboard, you are fodder for these guys - and the masses positively gobble it up on a daily basis. That said, they don't really do the absurd - 'London Bus found on the Moon' , 'Elvis working in KFC', 'Queen is really an Alien shapeshifter' ..... these kind of nutty stories are not what they tend to specialise in. Mangani
The Sun is the dirt rag of the gutter press. As already said, it doesn't really write outrageously stupid stories like "I was raped by Bigfoot" but it does openly and knowingly print lies and has been taken to court (and lost) plenty of times. I'm surprised it's still in business. Well, it isn't in Liverpool.

I love those British tabloid headlines, my favourite one came from The Sun in 1996, and was a headline about Princess Diana, which read: TOP AIDE DUMPS DI OVER TIGGY SEX SLUR
Mangani
What happened to The News Of The World? That was a classy paper... The News Of The World is still around. It's a Sunday paper. It's the Sunday version of The Sun. Same publishers, same bollocks etc etc.

He even owns the little free community newspaper that's distributed just in my suburb.
