Well said, to me it's easily Ann Wilson. We got a chance to see Heart a few years back, they were just amazing. Her voice on the Zep tracks they did in the encore, as well as The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me" was just magical.

I never said they were better than Ann Wilson.  I don't think there's a single female [rock] singer who could compete with her.

Also, I need to get Nancy Wilson to marry me.  ❤️

None in the first row's singers could even come close to Ann Wilson (all of these over-pompous metal chicks just miss the ingredient called "soul")

She's not a Rock singer..... but, if Natalie Grant, with her set of pipes, ever chose to sing STH, I think that she would knock it out of the park.

  2. What's all this talk about wanting "new stuff" to be worked on. Even if "that" happened, they'd still be expected to perform the "old stuff" on tour. And how would they agree, all agree to perform it. Plant solo style, Page & Plant style, O2 style??? There's not a pipe big enough for these dreams. I'm expecting nothing. If it wasn't O2 style, I wouldn't be interested at all. There is not reunion, or reunion gig in the works. But no one can stop you from dreaming..

Because then people wouldn't spend £50 on the book?

Well, it could be an extra bonus when you buy the book... a "video disc" if you will, where each photograph could be looked at.

Wouldn't like to start a business with you!

Also you'd have every fucker complaining we don't have anything psychical for the anniversary

I answered the second part above. I don't start businesses, I critique them. Psych. B)

Maybe post this request in the stevehoffman forum. They love doing tedious stuff like this.

If you think wanting to look at the band in detail as tedious, then that's you! :D

    Hi Porgie66,

From a different roll, here's more of Bonham.  Note the last few images are of Bonham with the double bass drum set up.

As much as everybody loves Led Zeppelin, why can't we get a website to access to view each of these shots in detail. Why the fuck is that asking too much? I'd like to the same for the shots used for the cover of the 1969 hardback.

All I can say is keep looking. There's amazing music currently being made if you are open to change. The talent is out there but the radio doesn't support it so you have to search.

An example for me is Chance The Rapper's 'Same Drugs'. Just amazing and his lyrics are off the charts. Using imagery from Peter Pan and drugs to explain the dissolving of a relationship, the Beatles would be proud.

    Not likely....

Reason # 1 --- I still have much to mine and unearth from the music period of my youth, which I naturally favor.

Reason # 2 --- Not that much motivated to "look around". That was never my style. And it didn't have to be, back in the day. There was just an embarrassing amount of good "low hanging fruit", that I never developed the skills to wade through mountains of shit to find a diamond. After all, my "era" IS the Motherload...:thumbsup:

Some members do think the world revolves around a rock band that disbanded nearly 40 years ago. Now THAT's beyond sad. 😜

Some people (not you) think that the world now revolves around a band (Greta Van Fleet) that reminds them of the band that disbanded 40 years ago. That's ... sort of pathetic to me. But, that's just me...from my world view.

As we age, we look back on the "days of our youth"... for me that would be childhood with The Beatles, and, as a teen to early 20's -- Led Zeppelin. That will always be, and you can't take it away from me. I'm passionate about the music of my childhood and youth. It's only natural. And I do take the smug position that the music of my childhood and youth, is better than the music that was "current" in your childhood and youth (not you... specifically... just everyone in genera,l that grew up in a different time...)

Did anyone notice that Page was the only surviving member

at the book launch  of Zeppelin by Zeppelin on the 27th Sept . Zeppelin back drop photos and even a zeppelin embroidered

carpet  and only one member to stand on it. Beyond sad frankly

    It's not sad at all....

What's sad is that fate did not allow professional live recordings and video from the '75 and '77 tours to be made and released.

IT's just a book with photos of Zeppelin that most long time fans have already mostly seen. The fact that it's in a book officially released by the band is not that big deal. The History of Zeppelin is mostly wrapped up in bootleg recordings and photos. That was their own doing. They've no one to blame but themselves...

For Robert, I think one could argue the 02 Arena show was superior to most if not all of his performances on the 1998 World Tour.

In both instances, we're probably splitting hairs either way. After all, for the 02 Arena show we know Jimmy was favoring his injured finger and Robert's range wasn't what it is in the '90s.

After listening to some of the O2 show again, I must say, that I think JPJ gives the best performance of the four.

There are some real magical moments on the O2 soundtrack for me. Real goose bumps. JPJ is as consistently good as he ever was, that 1/2 of the greatest rhythm section that ever was. Add to that, the moments of brilliance from Robert & Jimmy, and this recording is a must have for me. Jason is adequate and competent, but, he never surpasses his father in any way. It was only after Bonham's death that I eventually came to the realization of what a supremely integral part of Led Zeppelin that Bonzo was.

In terms of Plant's vocal used for the 2007 reunion, a number of songs were performed in a lower key because of Plant's diminished vocal range. To say that Plant sang the songs performed that night in the vocal style he had when Zeppelin was touring / recording in the late '60s and 1970s isn't accurate. In my opinion, although the 3 original members were on stage that night in 2007, the show had a different vibe / feel to it, and all though it was great to see the first full performance of the band (minus John Bonham) in 27 years, the show was oddly unsatisfying and something definitely was missing from it. Nevertheless, I think it was a good show overall.

I disagree. Singing in a different range, but remaining true to the vocal phrasing, is perfectly acceptable to me.

Really, there are those that wrote off the band as soon as Robert could note hit the high notes and screams of LZ I before 1973.

When Robert is singing LZ with all his heart and soul, as a member of Led Zeppelin... he can't be touched.

He did that in 2007 for the 02 show.

We did not see Led Zeppelin at the 02, It's not enough to "play" Zeppelin songs and have Jason on the drums. The music was different, The de-tunings, Jimmy's finger, Roberts Voice. Really, the only member that was 100% was Jones. It's not right to blame Robert for not wanting to continue in a Walking Zeppelin show. They should have done something Different and went back to the knobs for a name.

It was a cool tribute and we should see and leave it at that.

The O2 was very much a Led Zeppelin Reunion. Robert sang the Led Zeppelin songs in the vocal style that he sung them when Led Zeppelin was touring and recording from 1968-1980. Which was a break from every other tour that Robert Plant has been a part of post 1980.

And that includes the Page & Plant Tours... those were very much *not* Led Zeppelin tours. Robert was singing the Led Zeppelin songs with a different vocal style, as he does today... many different vocal styles that Robert uses today, but one he *does not*, and that's the 1968-1980 style, and he does that very intentionally.

Finally having a professional multi-track recording of the very powerful "Kashmir" performed well live is worth the price of admission. "Kashmir" was the apex of Led Zeppelin live in 1977 and not ALS as many like to claim. Fate prevented the 1977 shows from being multi-tracked, and I gladly and happily accept the O2 to rectify some of that.

Robert Plant is done with the Robert Plant vocal style of 1968-1980. For me, that's the only Led Zeppelin that I care about. I completely pass on all Robert Plant performances of Led Zeppelin songs post 1980, with the O2 being the only exception.

I don't begrudge Robert for putting away the 1968-1980 vocal styles. He's chosen to do that. He did not sign a lifetime contract with Led Zeppelin! I have chosen to not hear him sing LZ songs in any style but the 1968-1980. So no RP shows for me. :)

Even Robert would beg to differ...it WAS a Led Zeppelin reunion.

Yes, and the O2 album is an official "Led Zeppelin" release.

Regardless of the outcome, I won't think of Zeppelin any differently.

This could drag on for years and even go up to higher courts.  Aside from the current circus going on with the Supreme Court, according to history we used to have more Supreme Court Judges.  There is a very good chance we will see a boosted number of expanded Judges brought in.

The outcome will change absolutely nothing about my love for LZ and their music. All musicians (red, black, yellow, white) steal. None are without that crime. So in the big scheme of things, I don't give a fuck.
