  1. More Monterey memories. Ravi Shankar:Then,The Who followed, started kicking the drums and breaking their instruments.I was very hurt and ran away from there along with the others who play with me.My feelings were hurt deeply,as well as my respect for music and the instruments. We ran away from the festival.
  2. Eric Burdon (The Animals) on the Monterey Pop Festival: I departed London Heathrow for New York spending one night in New York then onward to Monterey the next day.I travelled with Brian Jones,Jimi Hendrix,Mitch Mitchell,Noel Redding,Chas Chandler and Jimi's management personnel.Upon entry into the U.S I realised the because of Brian's flamboyant clothing - he dressed like and old woman in linen and lace - we were immediate targets. So as we were in the immigration line,we did an about face to the men's room, where we consumed every illegal substance we were carrying between us.....which was quite a lot! On checking in to the Mayflower Hotel,we spent the whole night in the elevator ....never making it to our rooms. MOJO Magazine,July 2007.

    Rush

A Neil Peart drumkit from the 70s is going up for auction November 23, 2020 Alan Cross 9 Comments Neil Peart, Rush After successfully auditioning for Rush in the summer of 1974, Neil Peart went to a local Long & McQuade and bought a silver Slingerland double-bass kit. Starting with a show in Pittsburgh on August 14, 1974, when Rush opened for Manfred Man and Uriah Heep, Neil hauled that kit around with the band until 1977, something that included the sessions for the albums Fly By Night, Caress of Steel, and 2112 plus the All the World’s a Stage live set. That kit is now up for auction. If you’ve ever air-drummed to the “2112 Overture,” this is the kit you pretended to be playing. 2 x 22″ bass drums 6″ tom 8″ tom 10″ tom 12″ tom (These four toms may have been added in 1977 and were not part of the original 1974. Still, they’re here.) 2 x 13″ toms 14″ tom 16″ floor tom 14″ snare 8 x Zildjian cymbals (8-22 inches) 3 x cowbells 5 x temple blocks 2 x Ludwig pedals a whole whack of hardware The kit was put in storage in 1977 and stayed there until it was offered as a prize in a 1987 Modern Drummer contest which was won by Mark Feldman of New York. He later then sold it to its current owner. It’s now back on the market. Bonhams auctions is taking care of the sale. The expected selling price is between $100,000-160,000 (US$80,000-120,000). 7. .... the intelligent, committed, unselfish way that you've dealt with the COVID-19 virus.Australia has lead the world in virus testing and as the threat of oncoming virus waves continue, the rate of testing will continue.Australia's virus death numbers are some of the lowest in the world because of the populations attitude and the leadership shown, both federally and state by state. I never liked Ben Lee and I dislike him more now.
