  1. ^Before posting, it helps to actually read the thread first. This was posted on the very first page of the thread so it's not like it would have taken a whole lot of effort to find it.
  2. I didn't realize there was a British and U.S. version of this until I went to rent it yesterday. I opted for the original, British version per the rental clerk's recommendation. Just for comparison's sake I'll have to check out the U.S. version eventually.

  4. Just noticed the "Billy Graham" part in the subject line. Now, that's a hoot!
  5. Finally got around to watching this last night. I thought it was really well done but oftentimes it seems like big chunks of time were left out of the story. I guess if they had gotten into more detail, it would have turned out to be more like a two hour documentary.
  6. I would love to hear some new music from Page but I'm not so caught up in it that I'd ever feel compelled to contact his management. If it happens, it happens, my entire world doesn't hinge on it.
  7. It's not really my cup of tea. They're one of those bands I can appreciate for their influence but I've never been into them. Heard about this new Lemmy documentary: 49% Motherfucker, 51% Son of a Bitch? According to this post on a local blog details will be revealed tomorrow at lemmymovie.com.
  8. Even though I don't tend to think of the Paisley Underground in the same context as Garage Rock, a great deal of those bands did make up the Children of Nuggets box set.
  9. Even punk rock, just take a close listen to Cream Puff War from the So Many Roads box set...
  10. At smaller shows, the performer usually makes it a point to state that they'll be available after the show for photo ops, autographs, etc. I see nothing at all the matter with that, it speaks greatly of the performer and the relationship they have with their fans.
  11. I know some folks that insist upon going through brokers for their tickets without ever trying to through traditional routes. Personally, I've never had a problem ordering tickets via legitimate outlets (if TM can even be called that) including front row seats.
  12. It definitely lived up to the promise of your review, I very thoroughly enjoyed it. Just read where they have Bill Clinton signed up for a cameo for the sequel. Guess there's not a lot else he can do to further tarnish his image. Watched this one last night, another flick that lived up to all of the praise. Then again, it's usually very hard to go wrong with anything Clint-related.
  13. The posters that usually use this design are a dime a dozen and 9 times out of 10 have incorrect information which immediately gives them away as counterfeit.
  14. More embarrassing than someone coming on this site asking how to meet Robert Plant after a show? At least it's less stalker-ish than waiting around the backstage door hoping for Plant to emerge.
  15. 2-3 years ago Rolling Stone reported he was working on a solo album that would incorporate a different guitar on each track but apparently nothing ever became of that either.
  16. Don't give the brokers your money. I suggest craigslist instead, you'll find much better deals there and you won't be putting your hard earned funds in some crooks' pocket.
  17. I get a message saying "This video contains content from UMG, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds." Same thing happens when I search "Robert Plant By Myself" on YouTube.
  18. Thanks, have to sit back and enjoy that later on this evening.
  19. Look back at the charts during the time I was growing up in the 70s and you'll soon find it was just full of crap back then too.
  20. Apparently it's still unviewable, at least it was for me.
  21. I would imagine, that like Prine, Patterson's songs begin on acoustic before he brings them to the rest of the band. That's pretty much was I was referring to. A lot of his (Patterson's) songs begin with the exact same three chord progression, it's what he brings to them lyrically that makes the difference. Even if it's not a Patterson tune some of their songs sound a lot a like to me. I first noticed that as far back as SRO but it really didn't bother me that much at the time. Even though A Blessing And A Curse seems to be a lot of fans least favorite DBTs record, it at least showed them working outside of their usual realm of comfort. I had a very similar conversation about this with a friend recently and we were discussing how he may not be able to knock one out of the ballpark every time but when he does, he still shows a great knack as a songwriter. Agreed about Cooley as he has a better record with me as a songwriter but he's also not nearly as prolific as Patterson. He's said he has no interest in a solo record but maybe that'll change one of these days.
  22. I'm not saying there's absolutely no cases of their peers being less than fond of Zeppelin as I'm sure there are but for the most part, I don't think so. Ever seen how many times Jagger/Richards, Tyler/Perry, Plant/Page, etc. have traded jabs in the press only to go on (in most cases) to work with each other again? I'm not saying those are publicity stunts, it just shows that it's not always a case of outright disdain for one another.
  23. Makes sense. By not reforming Led Zeppelin (which would be pointless anyway) it forces Page to go out and do something on his own rather than try to recapture past glories.
