  1. Raising Sand is one of my very favorite albums of the 00s without question.
  2. I can't believe people are still lining the pockets of bootleggers when you can get the same exact stuff for FREE. Some even choose to do it even though they know they can get them for free. I'll never understand that one.
  3. I'm not sure what to expect from the new record as I haven't been all that impressed by their recent efforts but I've definitely been enjoying the recent expanded reissues of their early albums (October, Boy, War & Under a Blood Red Sky). U23D also wasn't bad at all. The deluxe CD/DVD box set for The Joshua Tree is next on my list.

  5. I knew I should have taken wagers on this one:
  6. You bring it on yourself when you make comments like "Led Zeppelin is the best band ever" or say there's been no good music made since the '70s. Is it any wonder you've been banned from this site so many times?
  7. I've had the exact opposite experience. I've never seen CSN but I have had the good fortune to see Neil a couple of times. Once on the Trans tour and again on the Music In Head tour back in 2000. I knew the night was off to a good start when he opened with Powderfinger. He then proceeded to play one outstanding song after another, not a single one a hit. The only downside was an assmonkey on the lawn who kept hollerin' "DONALD!!! DUCK!!! DUNN!!! until he was hoarse.
  8. For those that may have missed it when it first came out, I highly recommend ordering this very kickass back issue from Uncut. No doubt a Faces reunion could be great but I agree it just wouldn't be the same without Ronnie Lane. Aside from that I'm looking forward to Ian McLagan and the Bump Band returning to the area soon. If you're a Faces fan (hell, even if you're not) you owe it to yourself to check 'em out if they're playing a gig near you. Ian McLagan and the Bump Band show dates
  9. I don't really consider the Violent Femmes a one hit wonder as they definitely had other hit songs. I've only seen them live once when they performed at Woodstock '94, one of the few bands I've seen openly smoke dope on stage.
  10. He's not in and I doubt he ever will be. I'm a fan but I don't know that he ever did anything to warrant induction. For a list of inductees you can check the Hall of Fame site here.
  11. Exactly my point, even if there was a way to prove that a certain artist is best it's absolutely futile. If I already have a favorite (a term I prefer over "best") it's not going to change my opinion one way or the other.
  12. If you take the time to actually read the thread you will see where it indeed has been mentioned. I feel the same way about Led Zeppelin, without John Bonham it's just not the same. The same is true of any group that has tried to carry on without any of it's key members (Skynyrd, Little Feat, etc.). The only one that has come close is the Allman Brothers Band.
  13. I know of plenty of people born in '94 that love the music that's being made today. When I say the music that's being made today, I'm not referring to the limited offerings of what's offered on commercial radio either but to music that's aired on internet radio, satellite radio and plenty of other outlets.
  14. The more you post the deeper a hole you dig. Speaking of "ignorant", it's more than apparent you have absolutely no clue about my musical tastes which includes much more than country music. There are other artists out there besides Led Zeppelin and music made during the 70s. Thank goodness there's at least a good handful of people that post here that aren't forever stuck in the past.
  15. Speak for yourself. I have never heralded any of the members of Zeppelin (or any other artists for that matter) as "Gods".
  16. Tickets were actually on sale? I didn't realize things were that far along.
  17. I agree that Run DMC don't belong in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame but it's because they're a rap group. Despite the sampling, they in fact do compose a great majority of their own material: http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&s...pfpxqlgld6e~T31 If doing other people's songs was a prerequisite for not belonging in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame then Elvis Presley would be among the first to go.

    RAISING SAND 2

What does my amount of posts have to do with Zeppelin being my favorite or not? Not to mention, I'm sure most of those posts haven't even been in the Zeppelin parts of the board. I could give a shit about post count but it's actually much higher than that since I've posted here well before this even became the "official" Led Zeppelin site. For the record, my favorite band is the Beatles yet I've never posted on a Beatles board or mailing list.
  19. Neil Young's new site for his electric car idea: lincvolt.com ...and a link to a new song: Fork In the Road
  20. Thanks for clarifying. I remember an MTV Unplugged where a variety of rap artists performed but actual instruments had to be used. No turntables or sampling were allowed. I'm not sure if it's what you're implying but I really don't think just using the word "Rock" in their album titles (or songs) makes them "rock n' roll". I consider them to be rap artists first and foremost. Influential on rock n' roll? Yes. An actual "rock n' roll" artist? Most definitely not.
  21. These type of antics predate Ryan's career even with Whiskeytown. Of course, he's already removed the post from his blog and replaced it with an edited version. I'm sure the inevitable Cardinals "reunion" tour is already in the planning stages.
  22. No need to apologize but I stand by my statement, there is no one best artist, group. song, etc.. Besides, there is no way to determine that.
  23. WARNING: The rant from a disgruntled Dead fan you're able to access by clicking on the link below is NSFW. Strong Backlash Over $100 Dead Tickets
  24. I really don't think Rod is at all concerned about his "rock" cred, street or otherwise and hasn't been for quite some time. A Faces reunion would still be nice though. Of course, you can't really have a true reunion without Ronnie Lane so maybe it's all for the best.
  25. Weren't all of their "rock" riffs lifted off of rock n' roll albums they sampled from (with the possible exception of their collaboration with Aerosmith on Walk This Way)? I have nothing against sampling as long as the original artist is credited but if someone mentions Run DMC to me the first thing I think of is rap, not rock n' roll as they were a rap group. They no doubt were influential on rock n' roll as was Grandmaster Flash (who's already been inducted) but that doesn't make their music "rock n' roll", at least to me.
