Yeah, he sure does.. No Brad Whitford at the show, I looked up why. Someone from his family was having surgery that day. They sound great. Living on The Edge is on right now.. So glad they're showing this on tv. A lot of people were po'd that the live internet broadcast was a mess and that Dane Cook wouldn't let his segment get aired.

Great Drummer.. more jazzy than John Bonham. looser feel. tinny drum sound.. I don't like him near as much as Bonham. But, he was someone John admired a great deal and he was influenced by Baker so yeah I'd put him up there...

I've heard it a million times... I love Bill Ward but I would never put him in John Bonham's league.

Respectfully disagree.. Bill Ward can be very erratic. I'd put Ian Paice up there though..

For playing Zeppelin, yes I'd agree.. I saw an absolutely amazing drummer one time.. this guy could play incredible stuff, but he used the double pedal for GTBT and yes I was disappointed. But, someone like Scott Travis has made Double Bass such an important, incredible part of their sound it stands on its own. His drumming was fine..But, I must say his backing vocals on GTBT were annoying as hell.... "I wouldn't say that. Do I prefer him over Bonzo? No. But he was the man who was meant for the job and he did it well." agree 100% if is was to be anyone but Bonzo, it should be his son.

How many of those 40 - 50 million sold were the Blues standard "I Shot The Sheriff"? He's very talented and has had great success ... even without the duck walk and lasers. Peter Greene is a blues purist.. Eric Clapton has dabbled in *gasp* pop, rock .. and Michelob.. This certainly helped his mainstream success in the process..not a knock either.

I don't think Bad Company would ever play without Paul Rodgers again.. They do a nice tribute to Boz every night... at least they did on the last tour. The play(ed) Gone Gone Gone which Boz wrote as a dedication.

Well if I went on ericclapton.con and started a "Jimmy Page is the greatest living Guitarist" thread.....not all responses would be positive. How can you expect this..? The cover of the Mojo article I referenced is in this thread ... 1 page back... Maybe I should have let his comments speak for themselves, but I am sick of the 3 members of Cream always bashing Led Zeppelin... Eric Clapton is actually the least critical... Bruce and Baker are very bitter..

Steve, with all due respect, you can't create a thread and then tell people what they can and can't post on it...especially when it is from a very recent interview. But I will bow out at this point. I didn't realize I had to honor Slowhand to post here.

It accomplished me posting something that bothers me about Eric Clapton. If it doesn't bother you ... no big deal. That he doesn't like Led Zeppelin is secondary. I find it very pompous of him to think he could have stopped an entire movement in music because HE stops doing it... That Jimmy Page had the nerve to put together a Heavy band. It's bullshit. Since when do people not post things here that they have an issue with? Even if it's about the amazingly amazing Eric Clapton. The quote is from a recent article from an issue of Mojo currently on magazine racks ... so it's relevant.

Eric Clapton, interviewed by Mojo Magazine, "Speaking of which, you're not a big fan of Led Zeppelin. Why?" " I couldn't take the high-pitch singing. There wasn't much about Zeppelin that I liked. It's never been easy to dissociate myself from the political connections that when Cream folded, Led Zeppelin came along. My part of walking away from Cream was to dismantle that aspect of music. I thought that I had that much power that I could make that kind of music go away, just by leaving the band. Sure enough, something of that ilk came right through the door. That and the fact that 90% of his music bores me to tears.. Eric Clapton wanted it to all stop because HE didn't want to do it anymore ... well guess what? It didn't happen. Besides Zeppelin had more style, variety and a better overall sound than Cream ever did..

IMO... Greatest Metal band ever.... and proud to be considered Metal.. Some bumps in the road.. Turbo, Ram it Down,, But Painkiller more than made up for it.
