  1. I was never a Disco fan at all, but I've always liked and respected Donna Summer. She was a Classy and beautiful woman.
  2. I pretty much agree. I caught that same tour in Boston.. JPJ was amazing.. I saw him on Zooma tour and he was amazing on that too.. I've seen Crimson 3 times and this was a very odd set from them. I liked it but, they were much better the other 2 times I saw them. Robert Fripp can sometimes be annoying, I once saw him stare a crowd into complete silence... wouldn't play a note till you could hear a pin drop... he's played sitting down since 1969. As far as Buddy Guy. I've seen him twice and he very good.. It sounds like you caught him on a real bad night betteremily.. A friend of mine was a huge fan of his. He let this kid, who was no more than 15 years old, get up on stage and jam with his band. It was very cool of him. This was at the Hampton Beach Club Casino, which seats around 1500 people. The kid was ok, not great and not really ready. Buddy politely called out the father onstage saying don't push him so much (like he was obviously doing).. let him enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, If i saw the show you did, I would have been pissed.. But what I saw impressed me. .
  3. I play drums not guitar.. But a close friend of mine, who's an excellent guitarist swears by them.. It's pretty much all he plays. Their Drum sets are great quality as well. i'd say go for it.
  4. This place woud get boring real quick if we all agreed..
  5. I never got into Traveling Riverside Blues. I have to be in the mood for Hot's on for Nowhere... even though Page's guitar solo is pretty freaky and Bonham is on fire. Robert to me sounds weak. I used to hate Hot Dog till I saw Knebworth footage of it. That's about it. A different take on Hat's off to (Roy) Harper.. I love it.. I consider it to be one of Robert's most powerful vocal tracks.
  6. Queen songs on a potato chip commercial CrazY Little Thing Called Love Queen (and Bowie) song on a Google commercial . . . . Under Pressure Now this...... Freddie Mercury to 'appear' in Queen musical anniversary show May 10, 2012, 6:59 PM EST WENN Late rocker Freddie Mercury will "appear" on stage during a special performance of West End musical "We Will Rock You" through an "optical illusion," according to Queen guitarist Brian May. The show is nearing its 10th anniversary and bosses have been plotting ways to make the production memorable for fans -- and they want Mercury, who died in 1991, to be part of the celebration. May admits he was annoyed that a holographic projection of late rapper Tupac Shakur was used during Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's set at last month's Coachella festival as the tribute they're planning will be a similar "optical illusion of sorts." May tells the BBC, "People will come out saying, 'Did we actually see Freddie?' It's a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we've been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while. (That technique) is something we've looked at ourselves, but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week, it's not really quite practical." The special performance will take place on Monday, May 14, at London's Dominion Theatre -- and Robert De Niro, one of the show's producers, will be making an appearance. May adds, "There is a certain person who's coming that's intimately associated with getting the production on in the first place -- our friend Bob from Los Angeles. We call him Bob so we don't get too overcome with his stardom."
  7. Agree 100% - I don't agree with his opinion on matched grip either .. of course they aren't copying in correctly.... http://www.youtube.c...e&v=hq684tmvd1A edit: Rock Historian is right on about Bonham's right foot ... Most Jazz Drumming revolves around the upper kit ... the hands and the high hat .... The Bass Drum is usually there for just color or accents in Jazz.. John Bonham's sound was built from the bottom up.. I'd put his bass drum work up against anyone...
  8. Buddy Rich was without a doubt the best and most influential Jazz / Big Band Drummer of all time.. Nobody even comes close. I saw him twice in the early 80's. He was absolutely unreal...even in his mid-to late 60's.. It sucks that he would be-little John Bonham's drumming because Bonham was such a huge fan of his. Typical Jazz snobbery.. it's a shame.
  9. I give Pete Best credit for holding it together so well for so long...... Imagine getting booted from a band ..... which can pretty painful in itself.. and then watch that band become the biggest and most important rock band of all time.... next to led zeppelin of course.. It's a wonder he didn't jump off a bridge. Total side note.. CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE is on in the background on the TV on a Lays Potato Chip commercial.... It's Freddie's song... Safe to say he's not making anything from this. No shame in Brian May and Roger Taylor at all anymore...
  10. I guess I've been lucky... I never went to a show that I didn't at least like. But if I had to pick one .... ELP. Black Moon Tour Mansfield Mass June 92 They played real well but all through the show, the sound was way too thin... I was in the 3rd row so it wasn't too bad where we were sitting... but you could tell something was up. It must have sounded like crap way in the back ... On the last song... the sound guy went .... "oh what's this switch?" flicked it on and ... the sound was incredible.... He forgot to turn on the Bass Bins... I was sitting so close that I could see him doing it.. the poor guy looked like he wanted to die. The groan from the crowd was incredible. not really the bands fault but it did kill the mood. Carl Palmer was one of my all time favorite drummers ... but he had a bug up his ass that night.. I lost a lot of respect for him. Bonham opened for ELP supporting their Mad Hatter album... they were very good... Jason Bonham played real well. His growth as a Drummer from The Outrider Tour to this show 4 years later was huge.

  13. My older brother has always hated them too.... all because of Bungle in The Jungle.. Some Tull I love .. like Songs From The Wood and Minstrel In The Gallery... some not as much..
  14. Dude... Next time you watch the Jethro Tull section, check out the Lefty Guitarist playing the white Spray-painted Stratocaster... That's right ... It's Tony Iommi's 1st and only public appearance with Jethro... miming Song for Jeffery Edit.... Sorry strider ... didn't see you already pointed this out...
  15. Jimmy Page has sole Production Credit on every Zeppelin release.. that must be worth millions. I'm pretty sure he was executive producer of It might get Loud from wikipedia According to The Sunday Times Rich List John Paul Jones' assets are worth £40 million as of 2009.[56] not too shabby
  16. Sure ... That would have been cool. I'm sure nobody would have minded either.. But the night was a tribute to Ahmet. Jason learning all his Father's drum parts and playing them as well as he did is a very nice and subtle tribute to his Father... They also played a tight, no nonsense set. Performing Ramble On, Good Times Bad Times and For Your Life, which were never or rarely played live by Led Zeppelin made it clear that it was all about the songs.. not about solos .. and jams.
  17. makes sense to me.... Jagger wrote the words, so I'd believe him as well. I meant more the location of the video then the song as being a tribute.
  18. Maybe it was a tribute to Zeppelin / Bonham.... I know Keith Richards was never a big Robert Plant fan, but the Stones love Jimmy. They must have known it was the same bldg... a couple of guys sitting on the stairs in the video .. just like the guy on the cover of PG. Looks more like a tribute than a slam.... i don;t see a dig in the lyrics either...
  19. I went the Complete Studio Recordings route. I also had box set 1.... which I traded with a friend of mine for Judas Priest Metal Works.. ... I know ... shoot me. But that shows how happy I was and am with Complete Studio recordings.. I also insisted I keep the booklet from Box set 1 This is the first and only time I sold or traded anything Zeppelin related... well I did give my sister my double of The Song Remains The Same DVD.... The only thing Complete Studio doesn't have is the Bonzo's Montreux / Moby Dick pc that Jimmy Page put together for Box set 1. Like Jahfin said, all the extras are on the tail end of Coda...which makes it much cooler than the 1982 release. I'd much rather have the songs in their running orders of the albums anyday... but I loved some of the things Page did with song sequencing on Box set...... BM/MD into I'm Gonna Crawl in particular was real effective. The complete Studio recordings was also from the same re-master - re-mixes that were used on the Box Sets. They sound great.
  20. Theo Epstein wasn't invited till the day before the ceremony... no wonder he said no.. I like Theo, but he left a pretty big train wreck in Boston. No doubt Shilling is a big mouth. He has an opinion about everything ... But in his prime, he was pretty awesome. .
