  1. Makes sense to me. If he's endorsing it, that's fine...but they should be upfront about what it is. Call it something else. Australian Pink Floyd has full approval from Pink Floyd and they've even been supplied equipment from Gilmour and Nick Mason. Musical Box has approval from Genesis as well. They supplied them with all of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway slide and props. Both do very well. I imagine the original bands get a cut too. Blackfoot obviously is not in that league. But they could make the approved tribute band thing work in their favor.
  2. The first Boston album was incredible and it sold shitloads. I believe it was the highest selling Debut release by any band until Appetite For Destruction came along in 1987-88. I prefer their first album over any Cream album any day of the week. I'd throw Don't Look Back and 3rd Stage in there as well. Brad Delp had one of the greatest voices ever. I live fairly close to where he lived in New Hampshire and by all accounts, he was a wonderful person. Boston and Peter Frampton ruled in the USA in 1976. edit ... and KISS AND AEROSMITH. But I wouldn't call them legendary either and I wouldn't say they were ever bigger than Led Zeppelin.... Led Zeppelin were pretty much keeping a low profile in 1976... I know that doesn't sound right with 2 albums and a movie released... but they weren't touring. Honestly, I don't think anyone considered Presence a very commercial album either. The only hit single from Presence was Baracuda.... Led Zeppelin didn't tour in 1974 either and ELP was considered the biggest band of the year... Zeppelin roared back in 1975. Cream were legendary and influenced a lot of bands that came along later.. including Zeppelin, Black Sabbath & Van Halen.
  3. Yeah ... this is pretty lame..... The band might be great.. But if Ricky Medlocke wants to keep Blackfoot alive, he should be in it. He's given them his stamp of approval and he'll make money as their manager / producer ... whatever.. but it's misleading. He can work it around Lynyrd Skynyrd's schedule. I doubt Gary Rossington would have an issue with him gigging with Blackfoot when Skynyrd is inactive.. . Warren Haynes is a member of The Allman Brothers, but he still keeps Gov't Mule alive. EDIT: sorry Warren Haynes..
  4. BLACK SABBATH: 'We Have No Choice But To Continue Recording Without BILL WARD' - Feb. 3, 2012 BLACK SABBATH members Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Geeer Butler have vowed to continue recording their new album without Bill Ward after the drummer announced that he will not be able to participate in the recording of the reunited band's new album or perform with them on tour unless he is presented with what he described as a "fair agreement" and a "signable contract" that financially reflects his contributions to SABBATH's history and his standing as a founding member of the band. Ward issued a statement in which he said in part, "At this time, I would love nothing more than to be able to proceed with the BLACK SABBATH album and tour. However, I am unable to continue unless a 'signable' contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band." Ward added that he worked last year in "good faith" with fellow original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, including rehearsals and a November press conference in Los Angeles. But then, he wrote, "Several days ago, after nearly a year of trying to negotiate, another 'unsignable' contract was handed to me." The drummer, who played on 10 of SABBATH's first 11 studio albums, emphasized, "Although this has put me in some kind of holding pattern, I am packed and ready to leave the U.S. for England. More importantly, I definitely want to play on the album, and I definitely want to tour with BLACK SABBATH." The recording sessions for the original band's first new album in 33 years were recently moved to London so that Iommi, who is undergoing treatment for cancer, could be close to his doctors. Ward wrote that he's "spent every day" getting ready to head to England, but added, "My guess is . . . I will know nothing of what's happening unless I sign 'the unsignable contract.'" He also wrote, "The place I'm in feels lousy and lonely because as much as I want to play and participate, I also have to stand for something and not sign on. If I sign 'as is,' I stand to lose my rights, dignity and respectability as a rock musician." Ward addressed the possibility of his being replaced, saying, "I hope you will not hold me responsible for the failure of an original BLACK SABBATH lineup as promoted . . . It would be a sad day in rock if this current situation fell to the desires of a few." In response, Iommi, Osbourne and Butler have issued the following statement: "We were saddened to hear yesterday via Facebook that Bill declined publicly to participate in our current BLACK SABBATH plans... We have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open... We are still in the U.K. with Tony. Writing and recording the new album and on a roll... See you at Download!!!" SABBATH is scheduled to release its new album later this year and is confirmed to play the U.K.'s Download festival in June. All other tour plans, however, are up in the air pending Iommi's ability to overcome his illness.
  5. Unreal... Good for Bill... Let's screw the Drummer. He's an original member of Black Sabbath and it sounds like they want to treat him like a hired hand... I may be wrong but This reeks of Sharon Osbourne...There's more than enough $$$ to go around. I want to hear what the others, namely Tony and Geezer have to say. Bill Ward deserves a fair deal ..... period.

  13. I have a Bowie biography that tells about an incident .. going from memory.... Jimmy accidently spilled wine on a pillow while Bowie was out of the room. David came into the room, saw the mess, thought this girl spilled it and started yelling at her.... Then, Bowie caught a glimpse of Jimmy grinning, realized Page spilled it and blew up at him for not saying something.. He felt duped... like Page had orchestrated the whole thing. He told Page to leave. They were both pretty messed up.. Bowie soon left LA and went to Berlin to get clean..
