Brilliant. I remember him from American Idol. 👍
I think he is pretty entertaining. And I don't think he was making fun of the song. Clearly he is a fan of Led Zeppelin as well as other bands/artists.

We use both to be totally honest. Yeah, cm's to describe height is nuffy. And inches can be handy, but not if you are being exact with measurements.
Overall, metric is undeniably better and easier. You know 1 litre of water = 1 kilo in weight, so everything is neatly ties in too.
I can honestly tell you that Americans from my generation really only knew one metric to standard conversion and that was that a "key" was 2.2 lbs. Hehehehe
"Comin' in to Los Angeleeeeze, bringin' in a couple of keys...."
So when you blokes are describing 'Mr Johnson', do you say it inches or in centimeters?

Yeah, not only will the estate of Sherwood Schwartz (creator of Gilligan's Island and who wrote the lyrics to the theme song), but maybe even Taurus will have bone to pick too? LOL
All in fun

Ira Hayes sitting down on far left. My old landlord's brother fought on Iwo and brought back a hand carved pipe with Japanese writing on it.
Ira was a real hero. How cool to have a Japanese pipe. I had an uncle who had a Japanese battle flag he took off a dead Japanese soldier on Okinawa. My cousin still has it. Some people believe they should return those items to Japan, I disagree.
Many if not most of the men in that photo were dead before the end of that very day after taking Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima to plant the American Flag.
I remember the day when they said on the news that President Johnson had agreed to return Iwo Jima to the Japanese and my father who rarely used a bad word said "the F word" at the TV set and then a few more choice words about Johnson. I don't think we should have given back that island. It should have remained a monument to all the Americans who died in the Pacific and a testament to future generations in Japan that the consequences of Pear Harbor meant that had we wanted to keep it all after the war, we could have-- but we were gracious enough not to. Russia BTW never returned on inch of capture Japanese territory. Not that I'm saying we shouldn't have returned most of Japan to Japan. But just that one single rock in the middle of the Pacific should have remained US Territory forever the same way the U.K. has kept the rock of Gibraltar. A reminder....

Seriously, when are you guys going to adopt celcius. Water freezes at zero and boils at 100. So damn easy!!!! 😝
We didn't defeat Germany in WW2 to adopt some European way of measuring stuff. No thank you!!!! Standard is fine with us. We all know what an inch, a yard, a mile is just fine over here in America. Every time someone uses a metric number I think---- what the hell does that mean?
John Wayne stood 6 foot 4 inches tall. Saying it as "193.04 cm" just sounds dumb. You guys can describe Roger Moore's height which ever way feels the most posh for you all.

The tower walls must have been bullet proof. 😄 If I was the general I would have hit that thing with every available howitzer. To hell with preservation.
Yep, I would have gone Monte Casino on that tower.

In England do they spell it as Lead Belly or as "Led Belly"? I heard over there they sometimes will say lead as the double long e sound (leed) when they read some words spelled l-e-a-d. Which I think I read is why they called Zep 'Led Zeppelin' instead of Lead Zeppelin---borrowing off of Keith Moon's comment about him possibly leaving The Who to join Page's project, as it would have "gone over like a lead zeppelin".
I have also wondered about the phrase "lead foot" as we describe a driver who likes to drive heavy into the throttle/accelerator peddle here in North America. In England I wonder if they spell it as "led foot" or does the saying not translate over there the same way? Maybe confusing the saying as the foot which would be put forward first over the other foot and in the LEAD but not about it being heavy (as in heavy footed).
Somewhere I have packed away a Lead Belly 78rpm that I bought 40 years ago at a swap meet.

I believe the contest is limited to promotional music videos (no television performances).
I should have posted the video of traveling man by Rick Nelson instead.
"1961, after integrating his son Ricky Nelson's musical performances into the television program The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet for several episodes, Ozzie Nelson created a stand-alone video for the song "Travelin' Man," superimposing travelogue footage over a performance. His intention was to promote Ricky's records; the video aired in April and the song hit #1 a month later."
So by the OP's description, the contest is limited to early '60s, however unless it was shot on video rather than film, most of the stuff including the Flintstones are not specifically music "videos".

Eli Roth the actor on the left who played Sgt. Donny "The Bear Jew" Donowitz is the one who directed "Nation's Pride (Stolz der Nation)" --- the propaganda film showed at the cinema. Tarrantino was impressed by the footage Roth provided.

Wow this is hard Apanther. I just noticed you were looking for stuff pre 1964. Most of the stuff is after that date.
Even this I think was in 1965

My Pop was really pissed off that we gave them back Iwo Jima, should have kept it to prove a point. Then they went and changed the name to something else other than Iwo Jima I suppose to take the sting away from the defeat.
Dad always said we should have just given Japan to the Russians in exchange for Eastern Europe back in '45. I wonder how that would reshaped things in the world?
