  1. You're welcome Chase! And I am ashamed to admit that I have selfish reasons for my interest in this as Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad are the best shows in the last 20 years. And that being said, I wish Odenkirk a speedy recovering. Plus him being the star of this show, there are THOUSANDS of people's livelihoods also riding on his getting healthy again. Great show
  2. Of course the numbers aren't great in the US in terms of upward mobility INSIDE the USA. But that is due to OPEN BORDERS my friend, all those really poor uneducated people pulling the numbers down. However, another way to look at that, is how much better off are they here, than where they came from? So, comparing those levels; with places like Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua as the base level, isn't that really some huge leap in upward mobility, at least for them? Open borders and unchecked immigration also has a hand in driving down wages, and the WORST affected by that, are poor African-Americans in the inner cities.
  3. What do you think Red, ABQ or Oakland, which city is more sketchy?
  4. Thanks for the info. There are a lot of low rent places in people all over this country. Nothing good ever comes from drug use or gangs. People complain about crime and cartels, and then support them by buying dope. And pot is in that group too. For people to believe the drug cartels are the major pot suppliers, people who murder, rape, and wreak havoc all over Mexico. Maybe some folk ought to think about that the next time they light up a doobie. Many people will whine about clothing companies with slave labor, only to support the drug cartels by their "recreation substance" of choice.
  5. Not sure how covid created more homelessness. In California the damn state stepped in and has paid everyone's rent for a year. Zero evictions basically, I don't know how landlords survive? I believe that most people's problems are due to poor choices in life. I've always lived within my means, and never had a problem.
  6. Turned out to be a small heart attack due to a blockage. Odenkirk said today that they were able to repair the blockage without surgery. here is is like to his tweet https://twitter.com/mrbobodenkirk/status/1421195860466089991
  7. Hmmm... why is Los Angeles County so high in infection Wally? All of those ultra conservatives out here in LA County....LOL! And look at Nevada, especially Clark County. Lots of conservatives there too Rio Grande Valley???? If what I think you are suggesting is true, then why isn't Idaho and Montana solid red? MAYBE, the answer isn't as cut and dry as you think it is? Maybe you are following a hyper partisan narrative buddy boy? BTW, the south has the highest concentration of African Americans 97% we all know voted YOUR way. So why not more yellow low counties there? Hmmmmm....
  8. Hawaii has a very low population.... very low. It is much easier to manage a problem where there are low numbers. In Califorinia there are more homeless people just in Los Angeles county living along the freeways, than probably the population of Hawaii. This isn't about treating people like humans, so they will act like humans. Drug addicts do not act like humans, not when their entire life is about getting their next fix. You can't be "nice" to them and cure them, it doesn't work that way with addicts of that level.
  9. Your point being what? That other than Alaska, it appears that violent criminal homicides appear to be centered around the African-American demographic. I get the deal with Louisiana and Alabama. But look an Maryland, that higher rate is all about Baltimore. Interestingly, Illinois and California you would think higher, but owing to massively large state populations, the higher localized crime stats (Compton, Oakland, South Chicago) are mitigated by a larger mostly non violent population across the rest of those two states. I get why Idaho and Maine are so low. Lower population, and specifically a certain majority demographic they both share, even as both are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. I will need to take a look at New Mexico, and see what in underlying there, and why their violent crime is above the national average. There is a lot drug offenders in ABQ, some really, really low rent areas. So, those must be inflating the averages for the whole state. A state of only 2 million people.
  10. Stider, thanks for posting this, this was GREAT. The scene is so bad, that it is actually good. I have to believe Quentin would approve. In fact, it almost makes me wonder if this didn't inspire Tarantino to some extent with Kill Bill??? I loved this! And the camera blocking, the zooms, the slo-mo, was not all that bad really. I would love to capture this video and then layback a different audio bed under it with some great music. And then it really would feel like part of Quentin's crime drama sub genre.
  11. Update for all fans of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul Late last evening there was news of Bob Odenkirk (who plays Saul Goodman in the Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul ) having suffered some medical event during filming of the final season of Better Call Saul, and was rushed to a hospital in New Mexico. TMZ first reported the news, and for over 24 hours no updates available, which concerned many fans of this beloved TV franchise. A few hours ago it was reported that the incident was heart related, and Odenkirk is now in stable condition, being attended by his doctors. His family is confident that he will be okay. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/bob-odenkirk-better-call-saul-heart-attack-1234989892/
  12. Tarrantino's new book "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" is now out. It is a novelization of the film, with much more stuff in it than the film. Available in paperback I found it interesting that he insisted on paper back, dubbing it for "mass market" and priced at under $10. Very smart marketing really, I'm sure he will make more selling in quantity, than if he was selling $25 hardbook versions. Also if people are interested, the audio book of this is narrated by actress Jennifer Jason Leigh. https://www.amazon.com/Once-Upon-Time-Hollywood-Novel/dp/0063112523 Lastly for those who may be interested. Quentin Tarrantino was recently interviewed on the Joe Rogan show. For those who are fans of Tarrantino, or who are fans of Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, I strongly suggest you check it out. It has some really great stuff in the interview, and some candid details Tarrantino talks about over the film, his career, and other things. The podcast is nearly 3 hours, but I enjoyed all of it. Rogan did a great interview, and Tarrantino was very happy to answer all questions and then beyond add more info. His comments about actor Bruce Lee were great. Here is a link on youtube which is audio only. The Rogan interviews are now on spotify, but you would need an account, so youtube works better for many.
  13. Yes he has. Alex Villeneuava is his name. Ironically, he is from the same political party as most all of the Los Angeles city council, as well as the county board of supervisors. Which party I think you can guess. Los Angles city were Venice beach is, is patrolled by Los Angles city police (LAPD). For the county sheriff to intervene in a city is rare, and usually only in an emergency, and only when asked to help. But the homeless situation is now out of control, and Los Angles (City) is politically avoiding any action, they are basically run by a bunch of social justice types. In the city of Los Angeles, a person could erect a tent on the sidewalk in front of your home, live their, cook, and defecate in the street, and the LAPD will do nothing for you, the taxpayer.
  14. I found that video on youtube after searching for a story on fast foods places, and then after that it linked to literally hundreds of videos with fights at McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Denny's and all kind of places. But the overall them if you will, did not suggest "methville USA" and what you say. It was more like urban inner city places. Then I began to wonder if these videos were not somehow staged to get viral attention, and the make money. Which is way I asked people here to explain the reason.
  15. Somebody here explain this kind of thing to me please?
  16. Yep, even my truck when the time comes to do any valve work, the engine would need to be pulled out to get to the valve covers. International Scout would be choice too. That or a Jeep Wagoneer, but have you seen the prices on those old one now?
  17. What the sheriff said was that he would not expend any manpower to enforce this new county mask edict, as in his opinion it was not backed by science, and was in total contrast to the current Federal CDC guidelines. Then Sheriff Alex Villenueva went onto say that due defunding of law enforcement (defund police movement) that had to play into his decision. So, basically the Sherrif (an elected official) was just using this as an opportunity to score a political point. All of them are basically politicizing this pandemic all the time. Meanwhile I just received my new mask today from Amazon, the one I will wear when forced to wear one to enter a store. Here it is:
  18. I have never confused a man for a woman, not withstanding that one time in a dark crowded bar near Subic Bay when the 7th Fleet was taking liberty, and the entire Thailand tuna fleet was also in port. Yeah, sometimes shit happens as they say. ~natch
  19. My truck is now 23 years old, has only 75,000 miles, and I only made one car payment, because I always pay cash for my cars, and always buy brand new cars.... never used. I do the clay bar thing every year after a good wash, then do hand carnauba wax. All of vehicles are always parked in the garage too. But I agree, a car's best value to you is reliable transportation. It is a myth that a new car only depreciates. Take care of it and it will MAKE you money after taxes, fees, and insurance keeps going down and down. And then eventually it will begin to go up in value the longer you keep it. More Americans are in hopeless debt due to car loans and leases. I wouldn't own a new vehicle. Don't need bluetooth, navigation, back up or side cameras, and all of that crap. And that infernal push button no key start is annoying as hell. What if you want to lean in and crank the motor while the vehicle is parked because when you have the hood up and are working on it? Really?? Now you have to get inside, apply the brake, and the seat needs to "sense" your presence, or you can't just crank the engine? How is this progress?
