  1. Not ONE mention of Ragged Glory?? This is prime Neil, rockin' out down and dirty. This CD has been often credited as one of the first true "grunge" albums.
  2. No question about it. Not only is Jason a humble guy, but he has nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for his father.
  3. No offense to Jason or the creator of this poll, but.... ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING?? Jason did a GREAT job, no question. But the Drummer God Of The World is JOHN HENRY BONHAM. Nobody will beat Bonzo. Ever.
  4. In addition to Zep, I'm also a big Stooges fan. "Rock Action" is the drummer Scott Asheton's nickname. He's the guy in my avatar.
  5. Soundgarden- Communication Breakdown & Stray Cat Blues (Zep, Stones) Alice In Chains- Kashmir (well DUH!) Black Crowes- Can't You Hear Me Knocking (Stones) Supergrass- Condition (an old Kenny Rogers tune, but it SMOKES! ) Stone Temple Pilots- Revolution (Beatles) Ian Astbury w/ The Fuzztones- Down On The Street (Stooges) Led Zeppelin- Louie Louie (played 6-25-72..holy shit!!!) Band Of Joy- Hey Joe, For What It's Worth (Hendrix, Buffalo Springfield) Jerry Cantrell- Brain Damage (Pink Floyd, and he fuckin' NAILS it!!!)
  6. My favorite is from June 23, 1977. Blows away any of the above. "does anybody remember.......forests?"
  7. Yeah, there's truth to that too. No doubt about it. He looked a little freaked out in "Cocksucker Blues". But Mick was also pissed off for not getting proper songwriting credits.
  8. Absolutely. Mick Taylor was the best thing that ever happened to the Stones. Pity Keith & Mick didn't give him his due, otherwise he still might be there.
  9. It's cool. No need to defend yourself. Not to me, anyway. I know we all hear things a bit different.
  10. While I may not agree with the Who being better than the Stones, I WILL agree that Mick Taylor did bring the best out in Keith as well. Taylor was the only musician in the band to CHALLENGE Keef, thus raising the bar. Best thing that ever happened to the band. Had Taylor stayed with the band, I think they would have aged more gracefully, musically. There would still be room for Woody. On bass.
  11. I hear ya, that's a toughie. But I'm going with Main Offender. Keith's vocals on that are amazing (best ever to me), and it has a better flow to these ears. But Talk Is Cheap is fantastic. Loved hearing Mick Taylor play again with Keef too. Go play "Take It So Hard", then listen to the Black Crowes' "Jealous Again". Sounds like they just might be Keef fans too.
  12. Oh man...I'd LOVE that to happen! OK, now that we're on the subject of Keef...Talk Is Cheap, or Main Offender?
  13. I'm honestly hoping they'll retire, leaving Keith to fire up the X-Pensive Winos again.
  14. Can't do that, bro. I also love a whole lotta 90's bands.
  15. Well, the one thing about the 'White Album" is that you do have to wade through some crap at times. What I've done is edit out the crap, so the listening experience is quite a good one. The three bands I never tire of: Zep, Stones (pre-1978) and The Beatles. And I've played those to frickin' death.
  16. I grew up with The Beatles, like most old farts. Still love the band. Just got the Capitol box sets (the American releases minus "The Beatles Again/Hey Jude" and "Yesterday And Today". Sound quality is phenomenal. My top 5 Beatles albums are as follows: the "White Album" Let It Be- Naked (a vast improvement over the original-get it!!!) Revolver (UK version) Abbey Road Rubber Soul
  17. Don Felder is a very good guitarist. Frey is nothing special. WTF were they thinking?
  18. I'll second that heartily. I always loved the ORIGINAL Black Magic Woman, with that nice bluesy ending. And Green Manalishi brings back a lot of memories. What a monster that is!!
  19. Fate Of Nations is Robert's finest solo effort by far, done in 1993. You MUST get this!! And yeah, Jonesy can drag that solo out a bit in NQ, but then the main jam kicks in and it's all worth waiting for. You might really dig the live versions from 1979. A bit more concise. Particularly 7-24 and 8-11.
  20. I loved the Jones-era Stones too, though the Taylor years are clearly my favorite. Every time I hear Under My Thumb my feets get to tappin'. That older material IS much easier to play, that's for sure. But it's still FUN. Take it easy, hope all goes well for you on that surgery. The guitar will still be there waiting.
  21. Zep- No Quarter live, 3-19-75. Getting ready to play Fate Of Nations pretty soon...
  22. That's Mick T. playing that awesome rhythm on Bitch. Keef plays those lead licks. You've got the right album. And Bitch is in the key of A. Our band plays it regularly, it's a blast to play.
