  1. Nice to see the love for Tommy Bolin. If RB had not already made himself unwelcome in the band's presence, no doubt he would have played the songs he wanted to play. That's on him. I stand corrected. He played with DP through 1998, and then continued to stay musically active until his death. Really? Wow. No credit for Paice, Glover or Gillian, OG members of MK II. Ritchie Blackmore has never accomplished anything without the help of other musicians, acting with him as a band. Whatever RB has accomplished as a "composer" means nothing without a great band to assist with bringing it to life. Keep in mind, he has never released a solo album, a project which spotlights him alone. He has always existed in a band to help see his vision realized. This is absolutely not a comparable analogy. It's clear you have zero respect for the other DP members who helped create the classic and other great material. That's unfortunate but won't keep me up either. Rock on.
  2. Ok then, he was spared having to share a stage with Ian Gillan. So what's the problem? Mk II was the classic lineup with the classic songs. Ian Gillian is the voice of those songs, Roger Glover the bottom and Ian Paice the heartbeat. They are still out there doing it, as was Lord until his dying breath, including new material on a regular basis. They deserve, at least, the same respect RB does, and have every right to perform the classic material. Just as RJD stated in the above video, the music is a band effort, not just RB and some other guys. Blackmore, once upon a time, decades ago, before the turn of the century, made a significant musical contribution to this band. DP has persevered now, since RB's departure in '93, for longer than he was ever in the band, '70s, 80's & '90's combined. He is part of a current, working band's history.
  3. The mob wasn't in the business of creating gossip rag scandals. The mob used bullets or made people disappear, forever. Just ask Lee Harvey himself. They couldn't have cared less that Jack & Bobby were partying with interns during long lunches in the White House. They cared that their business, their money was being threatened by the U.S Attorney General and the policies he was pushing. RFK and a Kennedy administration were bad for mob business. It's the best answer for many as the truth, or other plausible scenarios, would keep them up at night. The idea that both JFK & RFK were killed by lone nuts... with all of the capable political enemies they created who had means, motive & opportunity.. . c'mon.
  4. ^ Forever Stay Safe. Be Well. Live to Fight Another Day. Born to Lose. Live to Win.
  5. Devastated to miss Chris Stapleton, Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow this month. Rescheduled for a year from now. Damn, how long can Willie roll on. He hasn't let me down yet. This bullshit virus could've at least waited until Willie and Dylan hung it up.
  6. I give him, musically, all the respect he deserves. Including and especially the Jo Lynn Turner material. I'll listen to it all forever. He absolutely should be in The (or a) R&R Hall O' Fame. He's no saint. If you don't like "asshole", choose something you're comfortable with. Or flip the script and look at this way. The current group goes out and celebrates the classic tunes because the fans want to hear them. Blackmore doesn't want to be in this band. This band doesn't want to play with Blackmore. The fans get to hear the songs. It's as good as we can get in 2020...or until we get to attend concerts again..whenever that'll be...
  7. RJD was very diplomatic about his time working with Blackmore. But i'm not convinced he left Rainbow "on good terms". Ritchie Blackmore is a trailblazing pioneer. An icon. A legend. That doesn't mean he can be an asshole too.
  8. First off, in 1993 he bailed on the band and THE FANS mid-tour. It was the band and the management which kept the rest of the tour and band's future alive for the ticket paying fans. And yes.. Also the story at 53:00 where he spent 4 days in jail for assault. (Maybe this was justified...maybe..?) He's nothing if not straightforward. I admire that. Gillan & Blackmore have an eternal beef. See previous video. Maybe the management didn't want Ian beat up in the back alley after the show. They needed him healthy for the tour! I'm a fan of both Blackmore & Gillan, but together they are oil & water. Forever at odds. And it was Blackmore who made the decision to leave.
  9. Foreshadowing? It's still speculation. Still bullshit. Live Aid was 5 years after Bonzo died. I'm not going to try and guess what may of occurred if he was there. I consider that pointless and foolish. We know he was ready to leave in 1974. ITTOD is widely considered a Jones/Plant effort. And they were touring this material. Where is it documented that in 78/79/80 Jones was unhappy and eager to leave the band to pursue soundtrack work? Provide the link. That is your interpretation of what Plant has stated and projected in interviews with the press. What he states publicly and what he feels personally, I speculate, are 2 different things. Believe and speculate what you choose. But it ain't facts and shouldn't be presented as such. I'm going to choose not to speculate as to what this is trying to say..imply...whatever.... His muse had been gone since 1980. This has been covered. Next. Speculation. OMG. Google the definition and learn it already. And before you reply again. Speculate all you want, but DO NOT present this nonsense as some kind of acknowledged factoid, which other dullards will be inclined to believe, copy & paste. This is ignorant, irresponsible and reprehensible. Of course. Why would we expect anything else? I'm not against speculation. I engage from time to time. Often with Scarlett Johansson in mind. But if you wanna present yourself as some kinda LZ expert... bring some documented facts.
  10. I'm a big fan of Ritchie Blackmore. He is a one-of-a-kind. And while, at the end of the day, i separate the artist from the art, his actions alone are why he is not currently in DP. He is an asshole and furthermore he doesn't want to play with the guys in DP. I don't give a shit who is playing guitar as long as i like the songs. And I don't get hung up on the personal politics of current and former band members. It's not my business. Being a fan and a listener is my business.
  11. 16 ? this is a top 5 show. Certainly more enjoyable than any of the LA shows. This deserves more love. A fine recording of a solid performance during a run which most regard as not worthy of their time. Probably THE live version of The Wanton Song. For anyone who mis-remembers, revisit this. Then judge.
  12. They adjusted their sound fine. Most fans just choose to complain about it, probably based on existing soundboards. Quality audience recordings reveal better example of their 1980 sound. But hey, they're fucking Led Zeppelin. they don't adjust to the world. The world adjusts to them. fuck, many fans haven't been able to come to grips with ITTOD yet. Fuck 'em. Speculation. I wouldn't expect Plant to make public his feelings regarding his son's death and the end of this band. Why would you. He still dances and shakes his locks and references the material. What is it exactly that he despises? Maybe.Do you have a link to credible documentation which confirms this? Or is this speculation. Based on a multitude of copied and pasted comments on the internet. U ave listened to Robert's solo material and hear Bonzo playing along? And Jimmy Page? Ok.
  13. Speculation. The band broke up specifically 'cause Bonzo died. Here, you're referencing events which happened after Bonzo died. This doesn't work.
  14. Of course, there is a classic period and there is still a focus on that. They cater to what their audience expects. I've seen the band twice since 2017 and I would be happy with hearing more more Morse era material, 'cause i dig it. There are a lot of great songs there. Probably most who attend shows expect to hear the classic material, and that's why they play it. As a huge Bolin fan, I would love to hear Morse interpret Bolin songs, but i don't expect it. It is what it is and they play what concertgoers expect. But they still release albums with great material. As long a version of DP with is touring, i'll support them. And i'll investigate new DP music as long as they produce it.
  15. Since somewhere around the time original members Nick Simper and Rod Evans (remember them?) left, Deep Purple has officially been a musician's collective. 14 members in total (so far), who have maintained the spirit of this band from the beginning to the present day. Lord and Blackmore are distinct voices forever associated with DP. But the band has had no problem carrying on without RB for 17 years (Morse is a legend in his own right) and hard rock veteran Don Airey has been a perfect fit. Very few bands have maintained the same lineup from the beginning to the end and continued to produce significant, enduring output. LZ, ZZ Top... Even the almighty Beatles replaced Pete Best.
  16. Of course, it was Led Zeppelin! Addiction issues are well documented and anyone who focuses on that is just copying & pasting ad nauseum. Thank you, it's been covered. We know. For anyone who has a true interest in knowing what led zeppelin was about, just listen to the tapes without caveats. Every recording is essential listening. A lot of people only want to listen to the band "at their best". If one want's a true 3 dimensional view of the band, listen to everything, the good, the bad & the ugly, including and especially 1980. This unique tour is their last chapter, and crucial to the story of this band.
