I searched and didn't see if this topic was already discussed, so apologies if it's repetitive. Who else likes hearing Zep pop up in unexpected places? I'm generally not the biggest hip hop fan but loved to hear one of my all time favorites, Ten Years Gone, sampled throughout this Tupac track

Items you can't convince yourself to buy
EaglesOfOneNest replied to gibsonfan159's topic in Led Zeppelin Master Forum
I agree that a lot of their merchandise can be a little "busy", but OTOH, it's not like people are wearing them to the office! Sometimes, simplicity is more elegant, of course.- 113 replies

Hadn't seen this one before. What's the origin?

1. Had no idea that Noel Redding was involved with Lord Sutch! 2. The pants on Mr. Sutch are AMAZING! -
Items you can't convince yourself to buy
EaglesOfOneNest replied to gibsonfan159's topic in Led Zeppelin Master Forum
I'll admit that I recently purchased two items; one is a Led Zeppelin t-shirt that found at Target, of all places (they also had Journey, I think!), and the same t-shirt with the swan song guy replaced with a cat and the words, "Cat Zeppelin" over the top.- 113 replies

All good things must come to an end. If John Bonham had lived (and no one else died), they would eventually have broken up officially or just drifted apart. It's the nature of the creative beast. I think part of the mystique is their lack of permanence. Obviously, the Rolling Stones and the Who won't be with us forever, but it sure feels that way! If something is always around / available, you take it for granted.

What's the Last Concert You Attended?
EaglesOfOneNest replied to Jahfin's topic in Other Bands / Music
Cu Dubh, an awesome band that plays heavy metal bagpipe and war drums! Highly recommend checking them out if they're in your area! http://www.cudubh.com/ -
I'm not a huge bluegrass fan, but there is a Spotify channel that has bluegrass covers of classic rock songs. Lots of Zep, Clapton, etc. It's really good!

Stranglehold is brilliant and I love Cat Scratch Fever. He was on one of those MTV shows with Jason Bonham, Sebastian Bach, Scott Ian and Evan Seinfeld where they wrote some new music and then played a concert. The concert included the new music and then one cover from each members' respective bands; in Jason's case, they played "Out on the Tiles". I didn't watch the show, but I did see the concert on YouTube and it was pretty good. Ted is a great guitar player.

They write their own music and it's not auto-tuned and overproduced. That is a rarity these days. It's a bonus that it's actually GOOD music! When I was 19 - 21, I was lucky if I got myself out of bed and to work on time. They're writing and performing very high quality music. I'm all for it and am trying desperately to get to see them live.

Page for sure would have gone places, and I believe JPJ would have been a part of that. Mo Jones encouraged him to get in touch with Jimmy when Jimmy was forming a new group after the Yardbirds. If it hadn't been Zep, it would have been something else. Unsure about Plant. Jimmy's first choice for lead singer was Terry Reid, who declined because of other offers / commitments. Despite having a fantastic voice, he didn't exactly become a household name. It could be easy to imagine the same fate befalling Plant. As for Bonzo, who knows? Such a great talent, and yet, could easy slip through the cracks. So much of success in the entertainment / music industry is down to timing and personal connections.

Whats up with Keith Richards on LZ?
EaglesOfOneNest replied to weapon2010's topic in Led Zeppelin Master Forum
Great points w/r/t to Ron Wood. He's a fine player, but I could see the point about perhaps a bit of "style over substance" and there is something to be said for "fitting in" when you are 5 guys spending a GREAT deal of time together on the road. I saw Metallica over the summer and during Rob Trujillo's bass solo, they had a HUGE video of Cliff Burton projected behind him. I mean, I get that he wasn't a founding member and I get that Cliff Burton is a big part of what got Metallica going, but Rob's been their bassist for 15 years! -
Whats up with Keith Richards on LZ?
EaglesOfOneNest replied to weapon2010's topic in Led Zeppelin Master Forum
Great point, re: Keith's ego. I could definitely see that. While I think their '70's and early '80's era music with Woody is OK, the Mick Taylor period was by far their best -

what are you listening to right NOW!?
EaglesOfOneNest replied to JimmyPageLover's topic in Led Zeppelin Newbies
I just read Nile Rodgers' autobiography and I am listening to a bunch of Chic and other '70's era pop that he produced. The man is a genius! Also listening to Greta Van Fleet! Love those guys! -
Yeah, it's great, just heard it today. The Mr. said, "Hey, Greta just put out a new song" and I replied that I thought it was an Adele cover. He was like, "Adele? I don't think so". Very impressed!
