  1. That's right, although the recordings with Jorma (the "typewriter tapes") are very rare. You'll probably be suprised to see someone other than Grace singing in the first song - Signe Anderson. Let me know what you think of the rooftop performance of "House at Pooneil Corners" - I usually crank this one up, when I can get away with it...
  2. The "Fly Jefferson Airplane" DVD came out in 2004, mostly from concert and TV show (some lip synching) footage back in the 60's. It should be easily available, and not expensive. Our library even has it. The store on the official JA website would definitely have it. If you're a big Janis fan, you would know about her close association with the Airplane?
  3. Did you get the Fly Jefferson Airplane DVD yet?
  4. I can't remember seeing this one - who's in it? The Clint Eastwood / Lee van Cleef pairing in Leone's other westerns was perfect!
  5. I guess Greg Allman is over his illness (hepatitus)? The Allman brothers and Bob Weir are being advertised to play at Jones Beach theater next week. I think I'll go, and just listen from outside - it's on the water, and the sound carries decently enough. The security there is a pain in the ass, though...
  6. Any episode where hand to hand combat occurred, and that "da-da-da-da-da-da-da-dun-ta-da-da" theme would start going - that would always get me fired up. Like the episode with Kirk and Spock fighting on the planet Vulcan, or when Kenghis Khan and Abe Lincoln went at it...
  7. And recently he's been in some TV commercial (Gieco?) where he hams it up doing that - supposedly interpreting a customer's satisfaction with the company. Ace Freely also does one, where his playing is obnoxious, and sparks fly out of his guitar during some board meeting. These are embarrassing...
  8. Every time we would hear a track from "Comes Alive" on the radio, my wife would ask why we never got that one on CD. So I finally went out to buy it - but could only find a fairly new "Live from Detroit" release at the store. I bought it anyway, and couldn't tell the difference. I'd rather have the Humble Pie at the Fillmore, though...
  9. Pulp Fiction, Blazing Saddles, and Animal House are a few already mentioned that I liked. It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Producers, Young Frankenstein, A Fish called Wanda, Caddyshack, and Dumb and Dumber are some other favorites...
  10. I really hate coffee anytime other than the early morning, so my wife never sees me order an after dinner drink like Irish Coffee. We were in a fancy historic restaurant once, and she dared me to get one - so I asked for a double whiskey shot in it, so there'd be less coffee. She got coffee with Grand Marnier and Kahlua - which sounded pretty good? The waitress switched the drinks by mistake, so when I tasted mine, it was like "Hey, this ain't bad"! When she took a gulp of the double whiskey one, thinking it was the easy drinking one - well, you can imagine the gagging!?!?!?
  11. We are talking about whiskey, right???
  12. Ouch, man - hope nothing serious held you up, like a ruptured cranium or something???
  13. Do you know the lineup? I heard Jon Lord no longer tours? I've always enjoyed Roger Glover's playing...
  14. She cuts you once, she cuts you twice, she cuts you again. She's so good with her stillll-letttooooooo... you can't even feel the baaalllaaaaddeee!!!
  15. The first time I asked a girl to dance, it was to "Crocodile Rock"... Island Girl would be a trip to dance to, in public and all...
  16. Something in a recent newspaper feature told about BJ's early career, when he was performing with Vanilla Fudge and what would become Mountain - and my heart grew 3X, somehow...
  17. Did BJ do "Philadelphia Freedom" for your city? That's a song that I can definitely groove to...
  18. My wife loves Celion Dion, and we watch her DVDs together alot. I'm convinced she's deaf (Celion, that is), but patiently sit through it - over and over. Hope you people can understand how my tolerance sometimes gets stretched to the breaking point, and I have to lash out against wankers like BJ. I do like "For the Longest Time", the alcopelo song - so this one is off limits!
  19. Hey neighbor! Don't the Mets play on Long Island, the celebrated home of the Piano Man? Oh that's right, you can't make millions writing songs about a team that no one jumps on the bandwagon for! But you can win over a crowd for one night, by tweaking the lyrics? Maybe even poor Willie would crack a smile...
  20. It was car! You know, working so hard can give you a heart attack-yack-yack-yack... But at least you can polish the fenders?
  21. It doesn't have to boring, listening to BJ. You could get yourself some whitewall tires, are you gonna cruise the Miracle Mile?
  22. You know, I almost wish I could be at Shea stadium, when the namedropper sings "and the Yankees win the pennant every time!". That's the sound I simply must hear, when the Mets fans there all go "Boohoohoooooo"...
  23. Elton John had some great songs, and always seemed to have a tight band. I really don't bring a musician's looks or sexual lifestyle into how I would judge the music. I've never heard any outstanding keyboards from the "Piano Man" - but haven't seen him live, to fairly say how much talent he has. I just think most of his songs are a drag, or too yuppy-ish. The airplay and hype that he gets in this area is unjustified, to me...
  24. I guess he was talking about Bonzo, when he sang "only the good die young". I always misunderstood it to mean he wanted to trick an underage school girl into spreading her legs for him - my bad. Guess I shouldn't throw rocks at glass houses?
  25. So the wanker does get exposure outside of New York? Sorry to hear that. Have you ever been to Mister Catchatory's down on Sullivan Street? It's right across from the medical center...
