  1. There sure is some hoopla over Billy Joel playing Shea stadium tomorrow. He's added a big orchestra section to his lameass band, and promises for it to be as big as when the Beatles played there in 1965. This guy has been a thorn in my side for over 30 years. He made himself popular in this area by injecting various local town names into each song, so that Escalade driving phonies can get off on hearing their hometown mentioned repeatedly on the radio. He's so revered here, for such inspirational lyrics as "so you stay at home, and masterbate", and "they found your father, dead in the swimming pool". And who the fuck buys their paintings at Sears? Does this guy exist outside of New York, or am I solely being tortured by him???
  2. I always felt he had one of the worst voices in rock, but he sure did give it his all. I saw him live once, and his band was top notch!
  3. Not a big Eddie fan - it's like he's off playing a different song or just randon tweedling, to me. Stevie Ray Vaughn is much more impressive. And I'd find a place for Ginger Baker and Carmine Appice in the drummer list, somehow...
  4. Bo Didley's guitar is homemade, too?
  5. Sounds like a wonderful place to "get lost"!!!
  6. I really liked "Portrait" (He Knew) and "Miracles out of Nowhere", and of course they played the couple of hits they had. The guitarist (Rich ..., with the eyepatch?) seems under-rated, to me.
  7. C'mon, man - haven't we seen enough of Billy Joel's daughter in the news lately???
  8. Kansas played a free concert at our local park last year. I think it was 3 of the original members - guitar, keyboards, and drums. The violinist was new, but quite good - as was the bassist. I thought the sound was very good, compared to other outdoor free shows I've seen recently. Not a big fan of theirs, either - but I'm definitely glad I decided to check it out.
  9. I haven't heard any of it, yet. What is the criticism? I don't mind silly love songs, as long as the beat is bouncy...
  10. No way!?!?!? That's fantastic - I was just listening to "Sweet Child" last night. I can't name any woman with a sweeter voice than Jacqui. I'd love to see them, if they were to come to the NY area?
  11. An old deadhead friend that lives in Hawaii these days says he knows Bill Krutzman, but I don't see his name mentioned. He was the original drummer, and pretty good, I thought. Why they recruited a second drummer, Hart, and what he was up to - was strange to me...
  12. No - but that's a hell of a good idea for me to follow up on. I tend to not buy anything I haven't yet gotten a sample of previously, and I haven't heard any solo Entwistle from any source - or even had a clue he offered any. I'm sure the guy could just stand there alone, and still deliver...
  13. I idolize Entwistle, but loath Townshend. It's probably the lyrical content of some songs, or the lack of traditional sounding guitar playing throughout. I could mention other possibilities, but regardless - if it doesn't work by now, it ain't ever going to. Live at Leeds is a monster, though...
  14. When the diver was looking over the attacked boat, and the chewed up guy's head popped out of the hole - best frightful scene ever!
  15. Is that the Birchmere in the Northern Virginia area (Alexandria)? What a great place! Nice bar, and great food during the show. And the best seats for those who get there early!
  16. I can't see anything that would change her mind. She wants to be known as a painter, now - and thinks she needs to stay off the stage, to keep the image of what she was intact, it seems... Closest your gonna come is her daughter, China.
  17. I wish I had a banjo string made of golden twine every tune I play on it I wish that girl was mine It's pretty hard to get girls with banjo playing - but I guess Jerry could pull it off?
  18. My wife's going to this one today, and I'm staying home to dogsit - thank God, for little pups!
  19. Fogarty says "put me in, coach - I'm ready to play". Keep the others on the bench...
  20. Really, man... If she was "Home Alone", she could just as well stay that way, as far as I'm concerned.
  21. I agree with both thoughts. I did see Clapton once before, with Roger Waters pros and cons. No one lit any fires that night, but maybe he was constrained by the material. There was a lot of pre-recorded nonsense thrown in, I seem to recall. But I haven't paid more than $60 for any show, before this. Hot Tuna is obviously my frequent choice - and two of the last (out of NY state) shows I saw them at were only $25.
  22. Try this - next time, save up your pubic hair clippings, then blow them in her face, after you blow. Here in the USA it's called the "Abraham Lincoln", and all the rage.
  23. Nice money shot, Rob. Is that your work? Hee hee...
  24. Eric doesn't seem to do much band member introductions, which is fine by me - but my friend said he recognized the guy. I think he said Doyle. Either way, the guy smoked. There was a big screen there, and every time they showed him there was a murmur from the crowd. I don't know if they were suprised how well he played, like me - or annoyed that someone other than Clapton was given leads at a show where the tickets were $100. This is a rare case where I'd say it was worth it. I don't give a rat's ass about shirts, but thought a momento for my wife would be nice (she was supposed to go, originally). My friend said wait til we went outside, the shirts would be much less. He was right, $10 got me one with Eric's loveable mug on the front. At $40, he didn't look as attractive, to me...
