  1. Awesome Miss Scarlet! Rock Crazy! You're awesome! Thank you mucho! Keep on rockin' till forever!
  2. Then stick to your guns, Jonesy. Enviable traits to have when you see, lately, that the world can so be full of pooh. Are we talking boxers or briefs? Dazedjeffy... a name I remember well after checking in to the hotel. Cool deal! Take it away.
  3. February 19 1972 - Memorial Drive Park - Adelaide, Australia This was the second stop (after Perth which has a tape that hasn’t surfaced yet, according to rumor) of their only Australian tour. Really great, crisp sound in this powerful and excellent show. The opening salvo is awesome, and Jimmy plays one of the best solos in Stairway To Heaven, and it's only 1972! Dazed And Confused is truly awesome and a riotous medley closes the show. The crowd is going nuts throughout the show, with Robert telling them to shut up, and it's not hard to see why. Pre/Post Led Zeppelin 1968 - Band Of Joy - The Speakeasy Club - London, England 1984 - Plant - Shibuya Public Hall - Tokyo, Japan 1993 - Page with Mason Ruffner - Muddy Waters Club - New Orleans, LA. On this day in 1993, it is said that I jammed with Mason Ruffner at the Muddy Water's club in New Orleans.I don’t have too much recollection of this, but I met him at the Old Absinthe House bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans during the Firm tour of 1985 and he became a good friend.Mason is a blues guitarist and vocalist in a real Texan tradition. He played as support to the second 'Firm Tour' and also opened shows for the Outrider Tour, later in 1988. Mason also played on Bob Dylan’s 'Oh Mercy' album, which was recorded in New Orleans and produced by Daniel Lanois.~JP 1996 - Page & Plant - Castle Hall - Osaka, Japan 2005 - Robert Plant And The Strange Sensation - Bristol Academy - Bristol, Avon, England - The Tsunami Benefit Gig http://www.tightbutloose.co.uk/tour-watch/robert-plant-tour-watch/tsunami-benefit-gig-bristol-academy/

  5. Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses
  6. February 17 1970 - Usher Hall - Edinburgh, Scotland Rescheduled from February 7th to February 17th due to a head on collision that had left Robert Plant with broken teeth and severe cuts. Pre/Post Led Zeppelin 1984 - Plant - Yubin Chokin Kaikan - Tokyo, Japan 1996 - Page & Plant - Century Hall - Nagoya, Japan https://youtu.be/UTHmvgksbQw - Eastern Intro, Heartbreaker, Bring It on Home, Custard Pie, Ramble On
  7. Lord Jagged, Styrbjorn, Dark Star, but I liked him best as Paul. It's been well over a month, but I'm still in denial. Paul was a brother and a honored member of my website. You described his sense of humor with accurate precision. I met him around in August of '07 on the Planet-Zeppelin site. We would chat for long times on Yahoo Messenger, all hours of the night. I'm not sure whether he was a late sleeper or an early riser. He gave me my first Led Zeppelin bootleg cd. I still have it, and the case. He loved early Zeppelin the best. Mention Led Zeppelin Destroyer to him, and watch him curse it. I gave him a copy as a gag gift once. He was a man's man. He preferred vinyl over digital described the listening to vinyl as warm. He wasn't politically correct at all. His idea of chillin' out was to throw a couple of cushions around the place, get the bong going, bit of vinyl on the turntable. He liked Porcupine Tree. He loved Free - You'd have a difficult time finding a bigger Paul Kossoff fan. One of the last things he said to me was: "No worries mate, I'll see you on the 'morrow I hope. Paul" Rest easy, Bro.
  8. You've red-crossed my Happy Birthday?! You can't do that to albums! I mean you can, and you did, but you don't. You can shatter this album's happiness. Albums are alive. They can rock, they can reach, climb, fall, etc. It's getting it's Happy Birthday back before it gets a complex and grows up goth or emo. Other than that, thank you very much Jonesy. I'm not sure when the Firm album was released in the UK and Japan. Thanks for the corrections. Would you care to post some of these updates sometimes while Deborah J is gone or at least the Pre/Post dates?
  9. February 8 1969 - Kinetic Playground - Chicago, IL (Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin) Headliner: Vanilla Fudge 1975 - The Spectrum - Philadelphia, PA Plant's voice has pretty much healed while Page's finger has definitely healed! The performance doesn't crawl like other 1975 shows, it runs! Trampled Underfoot is proof of this. Plant adds a few new lyrics to The Song Remains The Same and at the start of The Rain Song. Page enters late for the bow section in Dazed And Confused but ends the song with a new riff. Whole Lotta Love is an abbreviated version without the middle section. It goes straight into Black Dog with Plant singing most of its original lyrics. This show is also the one where rowdy audience made its appearance that caused Robert comments: "Can we advocate that people stay in their seats? It's not very pleasant to see situations like that right under your nose, so can we all keep cool!" Pre/Post 1968 - Band Of Joy - London 1984 - Plant - Newcastle City Hall - Newcastle 1996 - P&P - Budokan Tokyo, Japan 2000 - Plant - Sugarmill - Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent 2009 - Plant & Krauss - Staples Center - Los Angeles, CA - 51st annual Grammy Awards 2010 - John Paul Jones (Them Crooked Vultures) - Roseland Ballroom - New York, NY 2011 - Plant (Band Of Joy) War Memorial Auditorium - Nashville, TN February 9 1971 - Sunset Sound Studios - Los Angeles, CA - Stairway To Heaven (Alternate Mix) Mixing session of tapes originally recorded at Island Studio no.1, London, England on December 5th, 1970. Whooah! The legendary Sunset Sound mix. The added reverb in the beginning is a little distracting while listening on headphones, on a proper stereo it would be fine (ambience is really nice). First major difference: the recorders are hard cut instead of faded out at 2:13. This is a bit jarring but works with what Page said recently about each part of Stairway having definite transitions. There is an amazing clarity to Bonzo's drums always fascinating to hear. Immediately after the solo, the very ending of the solo you hear Page slide down the neck. Then there are extra guitar overdubs as well as missing vocal overdubs from Plant. In the final album mix, Plant is double or triple tracked. In this version there's only one track - the lower one. There's a few extra guitar licks right after "to be a rock and not to roll" - it sounds almost like he's mimicking parts of the solo. Pre/Post February 10 1969 - (Disputed) Memphis State University - Memphis, TN 1975 - Capital Centre - Landover, MD The bombastic renditions of Dazed And Confused and Moby Dick, when Bonham throws a couple of rhythm exercises known from basic structure of Whole Lotta Love. Pre/Post 2008 - John Paul Jones - Staples Center - Los Angeles, CA - 50th Annual Grammy Awards 2010 - John Paul Jones - Them Crooked Vultures - The Fillmore - Charlotte, NC February 11 Pre/Post 1967 - The Yardbirds 1. La Locomotive - Paris 2. Le Tube - Aulney-sous-Bois, Paris 1968 - Band Of Joy - Nottingham Boat Club - Nottingham, East Midlands, England 1984 - Robert Plant - Brisbane Entertainment Centre - Boondall, Queensland, Australia 1985 - The Firm Album - US/Canada Release Date 2000 - Plant - Beauford Theatre - Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, Wales 2010 - John Paul Jones - Them Crooked Vultures - Atlanta, GA February 12 1975 - Madison Square Garden - New York, NY https://youtu.be/VJgWxt1ukBM A member here, Bluecongo made this mash up of 75 film clips and synced it up to audio about 10 years ago. Thank you, Bluecongo! A great show! It may have been a blizzard outside but the Garden was rocking this night! "We came four blocks in the snow to get here ... you realise that? People were calling me on the telephone today and saying 'Is it gonna be on?' For a minute I was wondering about my anatomy, then I realised there was some discrepancy about the weather. Isn't it good though that it snows? Doesn't it change the vibe of the city? I think it's great!" The band is in excellent form and delivers a great show. Robert sounds good and strong, Jonesy and Bonzo are amazing as always, and Jimmy is incendiary tonight, especially at the end of Sick Again. He extends the solo in Over The Hills And Far Away to an incredible length and soars. No Quarter is dedicated to Jones that "...made Monthy Python's Flying Circus a flop in New York" tonight and his imppecably clean fingernails. Moby Dick is like a hurricane and Dazed And Confused just blows everybody out to the cosmic level! A bunch of heavy solid encores with an excellent Heartbreaker with some lyrics of Elvis Presley's That's Alright Mama thrown in closing this amazing eveing. This is definitely a triumph for the entire band and, not only a strong concert but also probably the best from the 1975 US Tour. "Ladies and gentlemen of New York ... you're too much ... and we ain't so bad ourselves!" and the show was over. Pre/Post Zeppelin 1966 - Plant - Tennessee Teens - Walsall Town Hall - Walsall, West Midlands 1996 - Page & Plant - Budokan - Tokyo, Japan 2012 - John Paul Jones w/ Robyn Hitchcock - University of Warwick - Coventry, W.Midlands February 13 1975 - Veterans Memorial Coliseum - Uniondale, NY A great show! The band is strong, Robert's voice is in fair shape and Jimmy is blazing, especially on a great and very long version of Dazed And Confused and an epic Stairway To Heaven solo. Roll Over Beethoven is only a short vocal rehearsal but one of the encores features Ronnie Wood on second guitar, dueling with Page as they trade licks in an extended jam that sounds killer when Jonesy and Bonham jam behind it. Pre/Post Zeppelin 1996 - Page & Plant - Budokan - Tokyo, Japan February 14 1969 - Thee Image Club - Miami, FL https://youtu.be/QAABCkIpqEU Two very high powered sets with different moods and feels to them. Both feature a band playing with fiery intensity! Robert hits some of the highest screams and is raw emotion, ranging from the primordial wails of How Many More Times and As Long As I Have You to the pain and suffering of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. The band's assault is relentless as well. This was the second to last show from the first US tour of 1969. Again, the group ended (?) with Bonham's drum solo. Pat's Delight 1974 - Rainbow Theatre - London - Roy Harper's Valentine's Day Concert Jimmy Page, Robert Plant & John Bonham attended Roy Harper's Valentine's Day concert as part of the all-star band, The Intergalactic Elephant Band, with Roy Harper on vocals and guitar, Ronnie Lane on bass, Max Middleton on keyboards and Keith Moon and John Bonham on drums. Robert Plant acted as MC. 1975 - Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum - Uniondale, NY This is a magical show ... one of the best from 1975! The Valentine's Day reflected Plant to some special comments tonight about the Pagans: "Today is one of the last of the pagan traditions that is carried on into the 20th Century. It's the day for sowing the wild seeds. In fact, now they call it St. Valentine's Day ... so, happy St. Valentine's Day. I think we should dedicate this show to St. Valentine." Since I've Been Loving You is played for the first time out of three on this tour and the playing and energy of this show make it a real special concert. Plant: "Who knows what it's gonna sound like, but it's something we really used to dig playing." No Quarter is great and Dazed And Confused is beyond words. The encores are funky and long, and the rare second encore of Heartbreaker has a long blues interlude inserted in Jimmy's solo. Pre/Post Zeppelin 2007 - Plant (The Honeydrippers) - JB's - Dudley, West Midlands, England February 15 1969 - Thee Image Club - Miami, FL https://youtu.be/bznxYAuwYsE http://www.treeo.com/led-zeppelin-story/ Pre/Post Zeppelin 1984 - Jimmy Page - New York City, NY On this day Jimmy Page celebrated Johns' 42nd birthday jamming with Eric Clapton, Charlie Watts, John Entwistle, and Louis Bertignac. "I’d known Jimmy forever. We came from the same town, Epsom, Surrey, and we’d even had a little band together for about five minutes. I’d got him a few sessions in the past, and when eventually he decided to put Led Zeppelin together he asked if I was interested. The sessions were actually booked under the name of The Yardbirds and I had no idea what it would sound like, but when they started playing I was completely blown away. I don’t think I’ve come down yet from the buzz I got from being in the room, it was utterly inspiring and incredibly simple to record. They were well rehearsed and masters at what they did, which is why it took only nine days, including mixing. ~ Glyn Johns, Uncut interview 1996 - Page & Plant - Castle Hall - Osaka, Japan February 16 1972 - Subiaco Oval - Perth, Australia http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/308-zeppelin-mysteries-hosted-by-steve-a-jones/&do=findComment&comment=7901 From the archives of Zeppelin Mysteries Hosted by Steve A. Jones. Trip down memory lane, Jonesy? Many thanks & Much appreciated. 1975 - St. Louis Arena - St. Louis, Missouri https://youtu.be/sZgKvFcQAxM https://youtu.be/QAemudgbPPc The show itself is an excellent closing night for the first half of the tour. The band carries the momentum of their great closing show in Nassau. During his intro for The Song Remains The Same, Plant refers to Kansas City and that John Bonham was arrested there once! Before No Quarter John Paul Jones is finishing a gin and tonic before he can start playing and tonight's version is very strong, sounding very dark and foreboding. Dazed And Confused and Stairway To Heaven are both outstanding. The encores are the only let down in this performance. Pre/Post Zeppelin 1984 - Plant - Yubinchokin Kaikan - Tokyo, Japan 2000 - Plant - The Junction - Cambridge, Cambrideshire, England
  10. Valentine's Day - No deaths to speak of. Maybe that makes for a happy day.
  11. Keep on shining, Miss Scarlet! Rock On Forever
  12. I knew it! Thanks for the post, Jonesy. Plant was shrewd and made sure to get it right. If you could please re-check on the Cole entry again, I sure would appreciate it. I've never said this before but "Trust Me". It's in there. I've got a photographic memory. I can still remember in the White Snake video, Tawny... exactly the moment... and the nip... Anyway, trust me. It's in there. How's it going, "lif". Not digital. We're talking microfiche, aren't we? I'll talk to you soon about unexplored avenues.

  15. https://youtu.be/OVzKVxee6IY I have tried this and it doesn't work for me anymore, since the most recent change. Also when I click on insert existing attachment, it tells me "The page you are trying to access is not available for you account. " The other one works, that allows for pictures.
  16. Excellent post! I surely stand corrected. I was about positive it was in there, just a little statement about it. I haven't read Richard Cole's book in years. Loved his style of writing. It left me laughing out loud sometimes. But don't worry about people not caring for some of the things you've posted King. Haters will hate, and always find something to criticize you about. It's on topic and you do know what you're talking about. You're contributing as am I. Being there the other day, 45 years after the rumored show, is what prompted me to post here. I'm hoping to get back up to the Wheaton Youth/Rec center, and would like to ask about, but I doubt I'd find anyone working there that worked there 45 years ago. How do you check on something like that, or who would you ask many years after?
  17. January 25th 1969 - Led Zeppelin - Boston,MA/Boston Tea Party An excellent and wild show in front of a rather dull and unresponsive crowd. Robert's voice is simply perfect and the band is so on! The improvisations in Dazed And Confused, As Long As I Have You, and a very long How Many More Times are truly outstanding and the whole show is a great 1969 Led Zeppelin energetic, loud, powerful, raw, and wonderful document. https://youtu.be/MSIxcCKaNbs?list=PLSOzPqPaK62eivMXeQJ_NMGMk2_bT5K1b 1973 - Led Zeppelin - Aberdeen, Scotland/Aberdeen Music Hall A very good show in the face of rowdy Scottish audience. Good versions of Dazed And Confused and Heartbreaker, with some great guitar work on Black Dog, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, The Song Remains The Same and Stairway To Heaven. Also Plant's vocals are solid throughout. https://youtu.be/2O0Cd0nHxe4 1975 - Led Zeppelin - Indianapolis,IN/Market Square Arena A good instrumental show, although Robert's voice is terrible ... low and raspy, he barely hits the notes octaves below their original pitch and his attempts at infusing it with soul are lackluster at best. Jimmy manages quite well with a broken finger although some passages are rough. The rhythm section is unstoppable as always. A mediocre show although the rare Wanton Song makes it a nice document of early 1975. January 25th - Pre/Post Led Zeppelin 1967 - Jimmy Page - The Yardbirds - Adelaide,Australia/Centennial Hall 1994 - Robert Plant - South America Tour - Caracas, Venezuela/Universidad Metropolitana https://youtu.be/O3Bs7Cx98qU 1995 - Page & Plant - London, England/The Depot Studios - (American Music Awards) 1996 - Page & Plant - Unledded Tour - Buenos Aires, Argentina/Estadio Ricardo Etcheverry 2010 - John Paul Jones - Them Crooked Vultures - Brisbane, Australia/Brisbane River Stage 2011 - Robert Plant - Band Of Joy - Boston,MA/House Of Blues 2014 - John Paul Jones - Baja Sur,Mexico/Todos Santos Music Festival - with Drivin N Cryin - benefit for Palapa Society
  18. I love it.! Thank ewe so mucho! Have I ever told you that this is my Queen song, and one of mah all-time favs? I have this song on my favs, but the video's different. Have you ever watched a cartoon with the sound down and music playing. https://youtu.be/WjhvBsK3_DQ Sometimes it actually goes with the song. You're awesome. Thank you so much. That made my day.
  19. Thank you. January 23 in Led Zeppelin History 1969 http://thephoenix.com/Boston/news/24982-jimmy-page-after-the-yardbirds/ https://youtu.be/2QFbtEBymuc JANUARY 23 - BOSTON TEA PARTY, BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS (THURSDAY, 2 SHOWS) Support from The Raven. MC Charie The Masterblaster Daniels introduced both acts. The show is married by guitar problems. The band sounds really strong and Robert's voice is in its most primitive and powerful stage. Dazed And Confused is a very powerful and excting version. The band stopped after The Train Kept A Rollin' because Jimmy Page had troubles with his guitar. "It's great to be in Boston. According to Jimmy it's one of the best places he's even played! I think, right now, in the shops there's an album called Led Zeppelin. I don't know whether it's out here yet. Is it out? You see, in one place it comes out one day and another place three weeks later. On this album we've tried to do a cross section of everything we've got into and we've included some blues because that's where it all comes from!" said Plant while Jimmy was preparing a guitar string.
  20. January 22 in Led Zeppelin History 1971 *Possibly January 22* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74gl71PUufw HEADLEY GRANGE STUDIOS, HAMPSHIRE, ENGLAND Possibly this comes from between December 1970 and January 1971 Headley Grange Studios, Hampshire, England or February 1971 Island Studios, London, England sessions but not confirmed. It is whispered that these outtakes were found in trash. 1973 https://youtu.be/GGl5braYt94 GARDEN COURT, WEST REFECTORY, SOUTHAMPTON UNIVERSITY, SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND (MONDAY, 8pm) Date added to the original itinerary. The whole show was recorded professionally and initially was thought as a part of How The West Was Won album but abandoned later in procees of mixing, mainly because of fact the overall level of performance wasn't enough satisfying. The show finds the Zeppelin in a smaller venue on a small, carpeted stage. This seems to lend itself to the type of performance given that night - very relaxed, very loose, very cool. Sloppiness abounds, even on well-rehearsed long-time standards, and occasionally yields interesting differences. Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp was dropped out from the set for the second time during this tour. Of particular and special note is an off-hand performance of How Many More Times, which had been retired just over two years prior. You can hear the band play off of each other as they all take turns guiding the music's direction. Plant's voice is shot for most of the performance, typical for the time period. Page experiences sloppiness syndrome on occasion and keeps most of his solos a bit subdued. Bonham also seems to withhold some of the flair - extra fills and subtle nuances - for most of the show. Jones, however, other than a meandering introduction to Thank You, lays down his bass lines as excellently as ever. 1975 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlkD1QhXKf4 CHICAGO STADIUM, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (WEDNESDAY) The setlist have been changed at the last minute just after as Page strained his finger what caused he wasn't able to play some parts. From the opener of Rock And Roll through to In My Time Of Dying the band keep great pace and both Plant's vocals and Page's playing make noticeable improvement as the set moves along. But notice how clean Page's solos at this show are during songs like Sick Again and Over The Hills And Far Away. Compare this to the solos that he would be playing in March and May with so many of those erratic bends and rushed cues. Makes one wonder if having that injured finger forced him to concentrate more intently on what he was doing, in turn giving his solos a more precise effect. A great example of this is Page's performance in No Quarter, which also features great interaction from Jones and Bonham. On a funnier note, Plant dedicates Trampled Underfoot to Chuck Berry, who he mistakingly thinks was from Chicago. The version is excellent, with Page inserting a unique country/rockabilly riff into his solo, and Plant's vocals again holding up wonderfully. He even throws in a few extra "Push!"s after the song finishes. Perhaps the biggest draws in the show are the performances of The Wanton Song and the short-lived 1975 rendition of How Many More Times, both of which would soon be dropped from the set. Keeping with the quality of the gig, perhaps it's no surprise that these two renditions are the best versions of the tour.
  21. January 21 in Led Zeppelin History 1973 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RXGjPlCsfg SOUTHAMPTON GAUMONT THEATRE, SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND (SUNDAY, 8pm) Robert Plant took the drums occasionally during this soundcheck. The soundboard tape from the actual show may exist and very likely it is in the hands of group. 1975 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V1BrXlAB64 CHICAGO STADIUM, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (TUESDAY, 8pm) The setlist have been changed at the last minute just after as Page strained his finger what caused he wasn't able to play some parts. Oh Jimmy! :( Concert was filmed on amateur equipment. Fragments were used on "Whole Lotta Love" promo video in 1997.
  22. How's it goin' E? My commute time doubled as well. I drove by your place coming home. Nothing but ice. Slip & slide. That's the first time I've ever seen an accident happen. Right in front of me. Dude slid into a lady stopped ahead of him at the stop sign. Be careful if you're around on Friday/Saturday. Best to you and yours.
