Multi-tasking as it were...but then, Jonesey's talented like that. I dare say if they'd put a strumpet upon his keyboard he'd have played her, too. IMO he uses both foot pedals and electric bass. I just checked the studio version (didn't listen to it for ages) The sound may be a bit subdued but it's definitely Jonesy on Fender bass If you listen carefully, you can hear he starts with bass pedals, but from 5.56 on (the heavy part), he brings in the jazz bass. His waving triplet and octave style on bass guitar is hard to emulate on bass or Taurus pedals. And there's that trademark muted oomph from a Jazz bass, you just can't get from keyboard pedals.
