What is Roberts thing with Doves?

It wasn't "Robert's thing for doves". The promoters of the event in 73 released doves. One happened to land on Robert's hand, and the cameras got pics. It wasn't a "Robert" thing.

Now, one could juxtapose the doves in TSRTS film with the bats in No Quarter...

There might be something within that.

I believe those iconic images were taken during the 5/5/73 Tampa Stadium concert,

the day after their record-breaking tour opener in Atlanta.

The iconic images of Plant and the dove were actually taken at Kezar Stadium, San Francisco on 6/2/73, not Tampa 5/5/73. Neal Preston was the photographer who took these legendary photos.

Here's a few Neal Preston shots of the Kezar show:

Yes, the iconic poster of Robert with beer in hand was often mistaken for Tampa, but I have to agree with the above poster that it was in fact Bill Graham's poeple at Kezar who released the doves.

Upon reflection, I believe the misnomer was from "Robert Plant: Led Zeppelin's Golden Boy", a Circus magazine paperback. The picture (which was the one with the dove) was captioned with a reference to the 56,000 sellout at Tampa. I can see how one might infer that it was a documentation of the day.
