  1. Exactly- that's why there should be a cap on the number of starters.
  2. I did see the Santa Anita Derby on tv & Pioneer of The Nile looked good winning it, with Chocolate Candy second. I missed the pre-race coverage though, where they probably talked about why The Pamplemousse (or however you spell it) was scratched, as yes, he was one of the favorites. I agree that there never may be another Triple Crown winner ever- unless they do something like put more time between the 3 races, like Derby first Saturday in May, Preakness 3 weeks later instead of 2, Belmont 4 weeks after Preakness instead of 3 (when Affirmed won it in '78 I remember thinking 'wow winning the TC sure is easy now' as there had been 3 winners in 6 years). I really wouldn't like to see them change the format though- history has shown that it can be done but it takes a very special horse to overcome the obstacles & win it all. However, one thing that I would go for is to have a limit on the number of starters in the Derby, I feel that 20 is too much. 14, maybe 15 tops is enough. And it should be by invitation only, horses to be selected by a panel of racing writers & fans. This would weed out the horses that (and you'll find at least a couple every year) really have no business running in the Derby.
  3. Missed the live broadcast of the Wood but saw it later on YouTube- I Want Revenge was amazing! Stumbled at the break, spotting the field 5 lengths, then working his way up on the backstretch only to be caught behind horses coming into the stretch, then finding a small opening & going on to win going away! I don't think the jockey hit him once either. Hopefully he comes out of this race ok & ready for the Derby.
  4. "Life On Mars" had another Zeppelin reference this week: Michael Imperioli's character is describing to another cop what he thinks Heaven is like & one of the things he says is that Led Zeppelin music is playing.
  5. I love Paul's solo stuff & especially Wings, but his work with the Beatles was absolutely amazing!
  6. Well, if I was fortunate enough to own a racehorse, I would pick my horse winning a race over sex. Unless of course the sex was with, oh, maybe the guy who's pictured in my avatar....
  7. When Michael Winner said in an interview once that Jimmy was his neighbor, I just assumed that he was his neighbor in Windsor, not in London. I agree with Beatbo, I love this thread- you learn a lot here. Thanks again Steve!
  8. Here are a couple of pics of Jimmy that I took at the Firm concert in 1986: I guess I must go on the site about the same time every day, because it seems that when I get up to the Hot Pictures of Jimmy thread, my husband is always walking past, and keeps asking me why I'm always looking at pics of Jimmy Page....
  9. I also noticed that the hotel that they said the fictional band was staying in was the Drake Hotel.
  10. I guess it looks like either the Dish Network or DirectTV people will be taking them over so hopefully they will be able to continue. I was afraid that nobody was interested in Sirius XM and they would disappear forever.
  11. I also would love to see them bring back the Zeppelin Channel, but I'm more concerned that Sirius/XM may no longer exist by the end of the year. I would miss it a lot- I haven't listened to FM radio in the car for a long time.
  12. I was also under the impression that the last rehearsal was in Windsor. Thanks Steve for the clarification. btw- where is Bray Manor located? Is it close to Old Mill House?
  13. Is the horse where you got your user name from? (from your posts on this thread you seem to be a horse racing fan, so I was just wondering...)
  14. "Tangie" was a nickname given to me by my friends in high school- obviously short for the song Tangerine- written by Jimmy Page- I had a crush on Jimmy (and still sorta do even after all these years, the Pagettes will know what I'm talking about LOL)- so they started calling me "Tangie" one day & the name stuck. The "Stargroves" part comes from Mick Jagger's country home where they recorded The Rover, which is my favorite Zep song.
  15. This morning (around 6:45am EST) I heard a live version of IMTOD- does anyone know what show this was from? Unfortunately my XM car radio display only shows the song title.
  16. Well, I sent XM my comments about improving the Zeppelin Channel earlier this year when it was first on and I see it didn't do one bit of good at all. But I shouldn't complain- at least I know that when I'm in my car, there will be at least ONE good song on the radio!
  17. I got an email from XM today announcing their new channel lineup, probably to get it in sync with the similar stations that are on Sirius. Some are new channels (all Springsteen, Elvis, Grateful Dead), and some are basically the same but with different names (Top Tracks is now Classic Vinyl).
  18. Today I heard the woman announce "Plant" for the interview but it wasn't Plant it was Page!
  19. Thanks ZFF & Beatbo for the info- I definitely hear the "Albatross" influence in "Sun King"!
  20. Kentuckygirl, the same thing has happened to me lots of times, but only in the morning when I'm driving to work, and has only happened on XM 54. I'll have to see tomorrow morning if it happens on XM 39.
  21. Question for ZFF or any other FM fans: somebody once sent me a mp3 file of a FM instrumental called "Albatross". It's definitely pre- Buckingham/Nicks, can anybody tell me more about it, what year, album it's on, and the guitarist on it. Thanks!
  22. I think Judas Priest opened up for them at a California show in 1977.
  23. Woo Hoo!!! It's coming back!!! (much to my non-Zeppelin fan husband's dismay)
