  1. not in any particular order: Slow Dancer Darkness Darkness Big Log Shine It All Around Far Post
  2. When I was in high school, I bought my first Zeppelin bootleg LP, "The 1975 World Tour", from of all people, my best friend's mom! She was a big Zeppelin & Bad Company fan, but needed some extra cash, so she was selling her bootleg collection. I also bought The Yardbirds boot "Last Hurrah in the Big Apple" but passed up "Blueberry Hill" because I didn't have enough money (although in retrospect I wish I had opted for that one instead of "1975 Tour"). Then when I got a full time job, I was able to go to the record conventions & the Village in NYC to get more (as well as Goldmine, before they started cracking down on the sale of bootlegs).
  3. I haven't followed horse racing for the last few years except for the Triple Crown races & the Breeders Cup, but I remember that when I did, I always felt that when a horse was scratched the trainer should be required to give an explanation why. Was the horse sick or lame? Maybe the trainer decided that they didn't like the post position drawn, or that the horse wouldn't be able to handle the track condition. I think that the betting public should have the right to know, and that this info should also be included in the PP's in the Racing Form like this: Entered 7/19/09 3Bel 3YO Mdn Sp Wt scr- fever
  4. I wonder if the horse's owner needed Robert's permission to name the horse that? I always dreamed that if I won the Lotto, I would buy a racehorse and name him Physical Graffiti.
  5. He wore those black & white loafers a lot in the 70s.
  6. Thanks Evster- I never heard of a harp guitar before, but evidently they've been around for years! Thanks also for starting this thread, I'm seeing lots of great pics that I don't have in any of my Zep books or rock mags!
  7. I love this unusual guitar too- is the top part a sitar?
  8. LOL so did I- my mom crocheted it for me.
  9. There's also a boot VHS video from the April 1986 show at the Nassau Coliseum. I was in the front row (but I don't see myself on the video, maybe because it was shot from a level up). It's not the complete show, although it is most of it.
  10. You're very welcome, Spacewoman- I happened to dig out my old rock magazines & saw these, which I don't recall seeing before on this thread. The reason why I liked them is just like you said- the sparkle in his beautiful eyes! And his beautiful smile too!

  12. Steve, it's funny you should bring this up- I was cleaning out stuff over the weekend & found a bunch of my old ticket stubs, including the Plant shows at Nassau on 7/28 & MSG on 7/29. Cheap Trick is listed on the MSG stub but not the Nassau one, but they opened both shows. At MSG there was a guy a few rows in front of us that was going crazy for Cheap Trick, waving & singing along- and when they left the stage he disappeared & didn't come back for Robert's show! (I also have the stub for Jimmy's show at Nassau on 10/28/88, Mason Ruffner opened but is not listed on the stub)
  13. Thanks for the link Steve- it saved me from asking if the photo shoot was done on 2 different days as some are wearing different clothes. These photos have always been one of my favorites of the band in their later years.
  14. What a great performance by Rachel Alexandra! I was a little concerned when she reached the half in 46 & change, thought it was a little too fast for a 1 & 3/16 mile race, but she held on. Borel said after the race that "Rachel" wasn't handling the track very well, so if that's true she definitely showed everyone what a real champion she is. "Mine" finished very well with another great closing effort. Even though he didn't win, he has nothing to be ashamed about- he proved he belongs with the top 3 year olds. Pimlico is not kind to deep closers, and yet he was only a length behind "Rachel". Wouldn't be surprised if he reversed that in the Belmont.
  15. Post positions were drawn for the Preakness today- Mine That Bird got # 2 and will be ridden by Mike Smith. The filly Rachel Alexandra got # 13. I don't think "Mine" will win, I think his running style is not suited for Pimlico. If "Rachel" doesn't get caught too wide going into the first turn she could be very dangerous. Usually I root for the Derby winner in the Preakness (I'm more of a horse lover/fan than a bettor anyway), but I also love to root for a filly going against the colts... Go Rachel Alexandra!!!!!
  16. I heard today that Rachel Alexandra, the winner of the Oaks, will be going in the Preakness next Saturday and that Calvin Borel will be riding her instead of Mine That Bird.
  17. I just saw that commercial- it looks like to me that Leno is doing a spoof of a game show. The famous pic of the Hindenburg exploding (it's not the album cover as the words Led Zeppelin aren't in the pic) comes up on a screen, and he asks somebody what the pic is. The answer the contestant gives is "uh, the sinking of the Titanic?".
  18. I didn't know this before the race, but I read in the paper today that Mine That Bird was the champion 2 year old in Canada last year. His current owners paid $400,000 for him last fall. I guess he shouldn't have been a total shock after all. He may never win another major race for the rest of his career, but coming from dead last totally out of it to win going away was amazing- provided, of course that the post race tests come back clean.
  19. Just heard on ESPN that I Want Revenge has been scratched- one of his ankles is swollen. He was my choice, so now I have to go with my second choice, General Quarters.
