  1. Another year gone. New times a coming. Better times I hope. Anyone have any resolutions in the works? The ususal for me. Clean up the diet and lose some weight. Didn't work last year so I am not sure why I should think the new year would be different. That's a bad attitude to start with. Bah! Screw the resolution. Just hope to continue to live a happy life.
  2. Happy Birthday Levee. Have a good one.

  3. We have a lot of cloud cover with the storms here in CA, but you can probably find web sites that will be showing the eclipse. I may find one if I can stay up late enough.
  4. The background says the Beatnix. It's not the Beatles. They are a Austrailian tribute band

  6. Thanks Ally, Magic and Fool. I do look forward to the next 25 as the last 25 has been great. I am a lucky woman and if asked I believe that the hubby would say he was a lucky man.
  7. Today the hubby and I celebrate 25 years of marriage together
  8. Total Lunar Eclipse of December 21 The last lunar eclipse of 2010 is especially well placed for observers throughout North America. The eclipse occurs at the Moon's descending node in eastern Taurus, four days before perigee. The Moon's orbital trajectory takes it through the northern half of Earth's umbral shadow. Although the eclipse is not central, the total phase still lasts 72 minutes. The Moon's path through Earth's shadows as well as a map illustrating worldwide visibility of the event are shown in Figure 4. The timings of the major eclipse phases are listed below. Penumbral Eclipse Begins: 05:29:17 UT Partial Eclipse Begins: 06:32:37 UT Total Eclipse Begins: 07:40:47 UT Greatest Eclipse: 08:16:57 UT Total Eclipse Ends: 08:53:08 UT Partial Eclipse Ends: 10:01:20 UT Penumbral Eclipse Ends: 11:04:31 UT At the instant of greatest eclipse (08:17 UT) the Moon lies near the zenith for observers in southern California and Baja Mexico. At this time, the umbral magnitude peaks at 1.2561 as the Moon's southern limb passes 2.8 arc-minutes north of the shadow's central axis. In contrast, the Moon's northern limb lies 8.1 arc-minutes from the northern edge of the umbra and 34.6 arc-minutes from the shadow center. Thus, the southern half of the Moon will appear much darker than the northern half because it lies deeper in the umbra. Since the Moon samples a large range of umbral depths during totality, its appearance will change dramatically with time. It is not possible to predict the exact brightness distribution in the umbra, so observers are encouraged to estimate the Danjon value at different times during totality (see Danjon Scale of Lunar Eclipse Brightness). Note that it may also be necessary to assign different Danjon values to different portions of the Moon (i.e., north vs. south). During totality, the winter constellations are well placed for viewing so a number of bright stars can be used for magnitude comparisons. Pollux (mv = +1.16) is 25° east of the eclipsed Moon, while Betelgeuse (mv = +0.45) is 16° to the south, Aldebaran (mv = +0.87) is 20° to the west, and Capella (mv = +0.08) is 24° to the north. The entire event is visible from North America and western South America. Observers along South America's east coast miss the late stages of the eclipse because they occur after moonset. Likewise much of Europe and Africa experience moonset while the eclipse is in progress. Only northern Scandinavians can catch the entire event from Europe. For observers in eastern Asia the Moon rises in eclipse. None of the eclipse is visible from south and east Africa, the Middle East or South Asia.
  9. Not Led Zeppelin directly but a big part of their history. December 14 2006 - Ahmet Ertegun died at age 83
  10. My daughter and I got a guitar for my hubby for Father's Day. He just left a convenient link on the desk top for us to let us know what he wanted. The hubby is on a guitar forum and they have a saying there " If you don't post a picture of the new axe it didn't happen" You should post a pic of it, probably in the musicians section downstairs.
  11. Nice. But isn't a little early for Santa to be passing out the goodies?
  12. Oh Man!!! Seeing that was unbelievable. The piano rising up and twirling like that. One might have thought the weed was playing tricks, but no, it really happened. That is one moment for me that hasn't faded away.
  13. I had to search the net to fill the gap on the second time I saw Ozzy with Sabbath. I love the internet. It was on 5-9-75 at the Orange Show Fairgrounds. Found out it was called "Sabatoge on Route 666". My boyfriend at the time had a younger brother and a buddy who wanted to go and needed someone to drive them. They got me a ticket too and we all went. I spent most of the time on my own as they ran off to do their own thing. I remember worming my way up on the field to see how close I could get. Got pretty close, but we were packed like sardines and as I am only 5'3" I really couldn't see much over the taller people. And it got hot . I felt like I could pass out and panick took over, cuz if I did I would probably just be trampled. Found my out of there and set in the stands by myself til the end of the show. Couldn't find any photos but there are bootlegs out there of the show. I have wanted to make a timeline of the shows I went to and document them some how. The more time passes by the fainter all those memories are becoming.
  14. This event was taped by ABC for the in concert series they used to run. Every Friday night around 11:00 they would show some recent concert that was taped.
  15. Another memory of the day for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhTjR10Vubk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lO3FxrpTjGM&feature=related
  16. Nice review. The first time I saw Black Sabbath was at the California Jam 1 in 1974, April 6 at the Ontario Motor Speedway, which is no longer in existence. It was an all day event that started about 9 in the am until midnight with several bands. Me and about 200,000 others were there to take in the day. Couldn't really tell how far back I was, but my guess would be I had about 20,000 others in front of me and out of the full count for the day that was pretty good. I remember that was a large tower of speakers behind us. They came on late in the afternoon before Deep Purple. There are a few youtube videos which is nice cuz the memory of the day has faded quite a bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLkZJMv3Lxw
  17. Happy belated birthday to Ozzy. After watching those videos, I honestly don't think that I would go to one of his concerts. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Black Sabbath back in the day and saw them twice. But Ozzy is sure showing the wear and tear of life he has subjected himself to. Which makes me sad. The lead guitarist, Gus, was awsome. Hope you had a good time Bigzepfan.
  18. That would be HOTH at 11 million LZ IV at 22 million LZ II at 12 million PG 15 million
