  1. Tell her to join in, Walter...all of your family is welcome to play. I never learn...picking Sadlanta on the road is rarely wise. When you can't even beat a guy named Blaine ferchrissakes...that's a hipster doofus/trust-fund kid name, not a quarterback name.
  2. Thanks to Sadlanta's pitiful pratfall against Blaine and the 49ers, Reggie29 is now in the mix for the week. It is now a four-way tie at 8-3 between apantherfrommd, Bong-Man, Reggie29, and Walter. All have San Diego tomorrow so it comes down to tonight's Dallas vs. Philadelphia tussle. Walter and Reggie have Dallas...Andy and Bonger have Philadelphia. Which side will prevail?
  3. Don't forget Bong-Man, jb126, and Walter...they are doing pretty good, too. FYI: jabe, in_the_evening, and LedZeppfan77 all picked Indianapolis.
  4. The battle for the week is between Andy and Walter...each only have one loss so far and all their remaining games are the same EXCEPT one: Dallas vs. Philadelphia. Andy has the Eagles and Walter has the Cowboys. Whoever wins that game wins the week...nobody else can catch up no matter what happens in the other games. Enjoy the Cowboys vs. Eagles Andy & Walter! This just in...Bong-Man is also tied with Andy and Walter and he has Philadelphia. So it is down to Andy and B-M versus Walter in the Philly @ Dallas game for the week.
  5. There were three games where our picks were unanimous: 1. New England vs. Washington...14-0 for New England. 2. NY Jets vs. JAX...14-0 for the Jets. 3. New Orleans vs. Tennessee...unfortunately for us, 14-0 for NO.
  6. No shit...I'm sweating bullets here.
  7. Big Ben has left the building. If Raiders-Steelers goes into OT it will be without Big Ben. Roethlisberger going to hospital for x-rays on left foot.
  8. You are kidding me...they lost?
  9. ^^^Left leg injury Paul. Feck. Interception in the end zone. Raiders are going to lose this game. Carr threw it right to the Steelers...not one of his better days.
  10. Patriots cover the spread!
  11. Nice. That is quite a ball of ice in that glass.
  12. Terry Knight was a piece of work all right...a real jerk. Stories abounded in the 1970s about his shenanigans. He fucked GFR royally...there was a real good article in either Crawdaddy or Rolling Stone in the early '70s that laid bare what a sham huckster Terry Knight had been.
  13. It's still early, Paul...I'm sure Rogers will put some points up for Green Bay. I love the way more teams are going for the 2-point conversion with the PAT rule change. Steelers went for it and got it...and it was only in the first quarter.
  14. Vegas made Patriots 14 point favourites. That's the largest spread of the season so far. But remember...everyone thought the Patriots were going to crush the Colts and they barely escaped with a win, thanks to a brain-fart by the Colts coach/not-so-special teams. Anything can happen on any given Sunday. I know some people who are taking the 14 points and betting the Taters. Maybe New England takes Washington lightly...there isn't really a history or rivalry between these two teams. There's no special reason for the Patriots to work up an anger or hate for the Taters as they do for certain other teams they like to destroy.
  15. J - Hokey Smokes! I plumb forgot I hadn't put my picks in yet. Camolina New England...Patriots favoured by 14 points...largest point spread of the year...Rick, are you taking or laying those points? Saint Brett Miami...I'm counting on your primates, Paul, to bounce back after New England...hope it's not snowing in Buffalo. Minnesota Jets Da RAIDUHS! You young folks may not remember but Raiders vs. Steelers used to be a helluva rivalry...beating Jets was one thing but now we will really see if the Raiders are for real...early start time sucks for West Coast teams...usually takes a half before their body clocks adjust. Giants Atlanta...it's all Colin Kaepernick's fault. Denver...Broncos should wear their old uniforms as they Orange Crush the Colts. Philadelphia...is Dallas going to lose every game until Romo returns? San Diego...another MNF game unworthy of Prime Time.
  16. Talk about missing the forest for the trees. It's not that difficult to figure out...he/she is describing the Lee Michaels/MC5/GFR/Led Zeppelin show that went down at the Olympic Stadium in Detroit October 18, 1969. The story is being teased out bit by bit, so you'll have to wait for the Zeppelin part, as they played last.
  17. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
  18. I don't understand the people doubting the setlist Andy provided. If you have listened to any amount of the second leg of 1975 U.S. tour shows, you know Andy got it right. There is no "Whole Lotta Love" without "Black Dog"! That was the standard encore at every late-February-March 1975 gig...a couple verses of WLL leading into The Crunge or funky jam, then Jimmy's theremin bit, "Out on the Tiles" intro and into "Black Dog", with the big explosions coming on the first guitar chorus after the opening verse. The only variable is whether SIBLY was added (doubtful) and if Ft. Worth got the second encore of "Heartbreaker". The succeeding dates of Dallas, Long Beach, and San Diego got the "Heartbreaker" encore, so it bodes well for a Ft. Worth appearance. Naturally, I will get the Ft. Worth show...especially since there's no audience tape available, so it's a virgin concert unheard by the vast majority of us. But I will wait for the reviews to come in before getting said show. I want to make sure EVSD didn't muck up the sound, get the tape speed wrong, or screw around with the tape. I remember EVSD fucking up the Long Beach soundboard...had to wait for Godfatherecords to get it right. They screwed up that 1977 Forum box set, too. Still, while any unheard Zeppelin show is welcome, I wonder when any January 1975 soundboards are going to see the light of day? That's what is sorely missing from the live tape history...soundboard quality recordings of "When the Levee Breaks", "Wanton Song", and "How Many More Times" from the early 1975 shows.
  19. Jon of the Shred...that's all I needed to read to know it was going to be a piece of shite. Not worthy of a further second's thought or another word in reaction.
  20. Gram Parsons "Grievous Angel"...sounds so good on a Friday. Joined by the luminous Emmylou Harris.
  21. F the unis. Typical NFL response...try to dress a pig up in silk. Forget about the fancy-pants uniforms...schedule better matchups on Thursday and more people will watch.
  22. In typical Nats fashion they bungled the announcement with the "it's Bud Black...no wait, it's Dusty Baker!" bait-and-switch.
  23. To be brief..."SPECTRE" is great...everything I anticipated it to be and a nice, satisfying wrap to the Daniel Craig-era Bond story arc. Not that you have to have seen the other Craig Bond movies in order to follow "SPECTRE", but it will deepen your pleasures if you have. Christoph Waltz is, of course, perfect...not going to say anymore. Easily one of the best Bond movies. Alas, the title song is also easily one of the worst Bond songs. Horrible. The packed Cinerama Dome audience cheered the "Star Wars" trailer and booed the "Hunger Games" trailer and was meh about "The Night Before" trailer.
  24. Well, it definitely sounds like a possibility to kill your bank account. I can certainly think of better uses of your time and money.
  25. I appreciate your willingness to take a loss...however, since you are a long-time regular and you chose to take the team that was behind (if you had picked Cincinnati I probably wouldn't have allowed it) and I am the one running this pool, I am still crediting you with your pick of Cleveland...win or lose.
