  1. Never got around to having dinner last night, so I am ravenous this morning. Had some chili leftover from the weekend so I made a chili omelet with a little Monterey jack cheese and onions tucked inside with the chili. Topped with a dab of sour cream...and Tabasco. Half a cantaloupe on the side. No taters. Two strong cups of joe. Three glasses of water. Which reminds me...where the hell is Mr. White? Hope he's not lost up on the ski slopes. You might know them as 7-layer cookies, Virginia. According to my friend in the South, they're known down there as 7-layer cookies. I hadn't heard of them by either name until planted enlightened me. In order of placement in the pyrex: unsalted butter, graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, chopped walnuts, sweetened condensed milk, shredded coconut. Here's before and after photos I took making them recently:
  2. A woman after my own heart(or stomach). Welcome to the thread, by the way!
  3. Sue, Watchtower's "Coherence" is even better than EVSD's version of 6-27-77. Yeah, I've found EVSD can be hit & miss, like most labels. For instance, I think Godfatherecords versions of the 2.12.75 NY and 2.16.75 St. Louis and 3.11.75 Long Beach soundboards are better than EVSD's. But then, EVSD's "Maximum Destroyer" and "Listen to This, Eddie - Christmas Edition" are the best versions I've heard of these oft-booted shows. NP: 5.17.75 Earl's Court. Just got this the other day...it's the "Devils Banquet" title on Power Chord. I have never heard this show before now...the 5.18, 5.24 & 5.25 being the only Earl's Courts I had previously. First night of the five night stand. I like the fact that it's an audience tape...you get more a sense of the vibe as soundboards can sound so anti-septic and cold. I'm only on the first CD(there's 4 discs), and on IMTOD...so full impression of the performance will have to come later.
  4. Yep...that's why they looked so spiffy. That's why you should just worry about pleasing yourself first.
  5. Those are some of my faves, too. The Montreal '75 is by the Phoenix Records guys in NSW in Australia...I also have their Seattle '73 release which also has a Giger cover. Sue...you are never too young for vinyl.
  6. Sorry Nutrocker...I get so busy sometimes I forget to keep track of my PMs...I just checked and yes, I did get your PMs. Thank you very much!
  7. I've been intrigued by the Pontiac show ever since the news was announced in 1977 that it set another attendance record and from seeing photos of the gig in Creem magazine. I was fascinated by the big bulky cameras on stage. But hearing some of the other lackluster April '77 shows lessened my desire to hear Pontiac after awhile. But Sue, dear Sue...your wonderful and well-stated post has renewed my interest in Pontiac even higher. There haven't been too many April-May '77 shows that I consider essential listening...even the Cleveland shows suffer in comparison to the June shows. But after reading your post, Sue, I'm going to put Pontiac on my to-do list.
  8. Yes, that is correct. And it was because the Saturday 6-25 gig was so good and they played a couple different songs(IMTOD and CB) that I didn't sell my tix for 6-26 and 6-27 and went ahead and attended the shows even though it was exhausting. But it is also precisely why I it is double the pain that I didn't go to the 6-22 concert...of all the ones I went to, I missed the ONE night of the six that they played both OTHAFA and IMTOD!!! Yes, I realize it may seem bad form and a trifle greedy to complain about missing one Led Zeppelin concert when I still was able to see the other five that week, but there it is. I can't help it.
  9. I don't know if it's because of this new "Gangster Squad" movie with Nick Nolte, Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn that's coming out, but the American Cinematheque has scheduled 3 nights of out-and-out gangster classics this weekend: Friday: The Godfather Saturday: Goodfellas and Miller's Crossing Sunday: The Godfather Part II
  10. You're favourite, really? Since there's no OTHAFA in the setlist, and that was one of the high points of the concerts for me, I'm skeptical of calling any '77 show lacking OTHAFA the best. What's the sound quality like on your audience tape?
  11. I would never have guessed that about you, Jules, for you seem so personable and nice. You have that easy Aussie laidback charm that is a trademark of your country. I hope you and your long-lost friend have fun reconnecting. I'm happy about many things today. The Oregon Ducks kicking K State's ass in the Fiesta Bowl, for one. Better yet, I sent out 20 packages thru the mail for Christmas and today I had confirmation of all of the packages arrived safely to their intended destination...some were late but at least they got there.
  12. I'd love to...but until I see the video or hear a tape from the show, I'm not qualified to say anything.
  13. As Barbra Streisand would say: Hello gorgeous! LZG, I know sometimes you have bad days but I hope you realize how truly beautiful you are. Every time you look in the mirror should reaffirm to yourself that you are a good person. I know women who would kill for your skin and lips. What shade of lipstick is that, btw?
  14. ^^^ I was wondering when you would get back to your Bond-a-thon, Ady. "Moonraker" is the last of the good Roger Moore-Bonds. It's a large dry spell from here to Daniel Craig's "Casino Royale". Good luck.
  15. I have to say Bong-Man, that looks beautiful.
  16. With his frequent partner-in-crime, Sara Watkins...Part 1: Part 2:
  17. Happy birthday to Mr. John Baldwin...John Paul Jones! Multi-talented, multi-faceted. The phrase "still waters run deep" was invented for men like Jonesey. As far as I'm concerned, JPJ was MVP of the entire promotional press they all did in 2012 for "Celebration Day". His droll, deadly wit was the highlight of many a press conference or tv appearance. Here's to you, Mr. Jones. Unlike Dylan's Mr. Jones, you always know where it's at. Some of my favourite JPJ moments. 18. ^^^ So people in the East never fail to remind me, hehe.
  19. ^^^ Well, I learn something new every day. Thanks Shep, old boy...I'd never heard of that before.
  20. There's a nice cheerful movie. Still, it's a good one, sad though it may be. Slogged my way through "Les Misérables" earlier tonight. Started dozing halfway through...was an effort to stay awake to the end. A typical Cameron Mackintosh elephantine musical that fetishizes the poor...especially poor little blonde children. "Master of the House" is the only memorable, hummable song. The other well-known song...the one that shall not be named...has long been ruined for me through overuse. Anne Hathaway makes a game attempt but in the end succumbs to histrionics. Very disappointing...especially if you love the Victor Hugo book. So...I've knocked off 6 new movies this past week and in order of preference, I rank them thus: 1. Django Unchained 2. Zero Dark Thirty 3. Silver Linings Playbook 4. The Hobbit 5. The Guilt Trip 6. Les Misérables
