  1. I know. Brings back memories of '90 and '91 in the frigid cold. Somehow I fear our games with the Seahawks and 49ers more this year.
  2. ^^^ Awesome news! Thanks for relaying luvlz2.
  3. ^^^ That's the spirit, ebk! Don't forget our weekly pool too, which you are encouraged to join! Ok...magic 8 ball says: AFC East - New England AFC North - Pittsburgh AFC South - Indianapolis AFC West - Denver AFC Wild Cards - Miami, Baltimore NFC East - Philadelphia NFC North - Green Bay NFC South - New Orleans (pottedplant's their guardian angel now) NFC West - Seattle NFC Wild Cards - San Francisco, Tampa Bay
  4. Hi Steve, So I was listening to Thin Lizzy's "Live and Dangerous" today, an album I've listened to at least a hundred times. But for the first time in decades I looked through the notes and credits and saw something that I had either forgotten or never noticed before: Jimmy Page listed in the credits! Is this THE Jimmy Page or did another Jimmy Page just happen to work for Showco?
  5. The blouse or the yogurt? Lunching on sliced white peaches and white cheddar cheese. With a crisp glass of 2010 Merkelbach Uerziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese...a prickly, schizophrenic vintage to navigate but worth it when you find a good one.
  6. The pool? What, did they move the ocean? Hope you and the Missus take a dip in the actual briny deep! Swim with the fishes...
  7. ^^^ No, it's too profane and indiscreet for a public forum. It would be just like the Angels to come off their sweep of Oakland and turn around and lay an egg against Houston this week.
  8. He always posts in the middle of the night because trolls turn to stone in the daylight.
  9. ^^^ Urlacher? Man, news really travels slow in Buffalo...Urlacher retired in 2013, Rick! You don't have to worry about him anymore. There are nine or ten new head coaches in the NFL this year so I'm having a hard time keeping track of them all, haha. Best of luck with your new coach, Rick. He can't be any worse than Chan Gailey or Wade Phillips.
  10. Another musician named Rodriguez...I got my Rodriguezes mixed up.
  11. Pot. Kettle. Black. I still have the vulgar pms and e-mails from you and your cronies. Perhaps you'd like me to share them with the forum and the mods? ebk has more class in her spit than you'll ever have in your entire life. It's obvious you're trying to egg Rick on to get him riled up in the hope that he says something in anger that gets him banned. In other words, you're not really engaged in a discussion about baseball, you're simply trolling.
  12. A perfect day...and perfect way to spend Labor Day. Sounds like it needs a good spanking.
  13. ^^^ Don't know if I want the word 'mutant' anywhere near something I eat. Hehe. Dinner: Cochinita pibil with a salad and margaritas.
  14. The Matt Schaub era didn't last very long. The Raiders are starting the rookie David Carr at QB this week in the season opener vs. the Jets. Let's hope this is the start of something big.
  15. Soooo...how was the show STZ? Was the Sydney Opera House all it's cracked up to be? How was Omar?
  16. That is strange timing PC. Not sure what benefit Astros derive from sacking Porter now. Unless they know who they want as successor and want to break him in before next season starts. Rick, I used to know all the playoff contingencies but after they added this new Wild Card wrinkle, I'm not so sure. I'll get back to you on that. As for the other thing...I think most of us picked St. Louis to win the NL Central in the baseball contest, so I don't see anyone here counting the Cardinals out of anything.
  17. Hearing two of my friends each had a blast seeing Tom Petty in concert over the weekend...one was seeing her first Tom Petty concert, at Fenway Park no less. Another thing that made me happy...20% off all wine at my local vino emporium this entire holiday weekend.
  18. Going by what I know from the women I've been privileged to be with over the years, anyone who tries to take a woman's hair-dryer risks serious injury. Aww shucks. You remain, as always, too kind.
  19. ^^^ It ain't truly football season until jabe comes out with his nicknames.
  20. Today is dedicated to live albums recorded at Carnegie Hall... 1. Benny Goodman "The Famous 1938 Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert" 2. Judy Garland "Judy at Carnegie Hall: Fortieth Anniversary Edition" 3. Miles Davis "Miles Davis at Carnegie Hall" 4. Dave Brubeck "The Dave Brubeck Quartet at Carnegie Hall" 5. Nina Simone "At Carnegie Hall" 6. Stevie Ray Vaughan "Live at Carnegie Hall"
  21. They'll have to pry my vacuum cleaner from my cold, dead hands.
  22. I know...what were the odds of that happening? Unfortunately, due to work I missed them all. Round 4 to the Angels! SWEEP!
  23. Another one I played the dickens out of in the 70s. Which brings up an interesting point...Blue Oyster Cult had several good live albums, each representing a particular period of their career: "On Your Feet or On Your Knees" - early Richard Meltzer influenced years. "Some Enchanted Evening" - classic "Don't Fear the Reaper" - "Godzilla" middle period. "Extraterrestrial Live" - "Burnin' for You" later years. Which one do you prefer?
  24. On a live album kick at work today... 1. Duke Ellington "Complete Ellington at Newport '56" 2 CD set 2. Julie London "In Person: Julie London at the Americana" - Live at the Americana Hotel, NYC 1964 3. Hugh Masekela "The Lasting Impressions of Ooga Booga" - Live at the Village Gate 1965 4. James Brown "Love Power Peace: Live at the Olympia, Paris 1971"
