  1. CD release show Saturday night at the Pinhook in Durham for Wood Ear's new one. Also on the bill were Spider Bags and WoWolfoL. They also had a real cool poster for sale at the concert for the CD release party.
  2. Prior to owning the boxset I picked up these:
  3. I'm referring to basically doing the same thing with Photoshop that you would be able to do in an actual darkroom. In the case of developing film in a darkroom, it's not something you're doing to manipulate a photograph after the fact, it's something you're doing as the film actually develops. Using Photoshop just gives you more control. Neither method is meant to make up for incompetency on the part of the photographer or to make the photo perfect. Recently in this thread I posted some photos from guy who uses a toy film camera to take photos. He uses Photoshop but he doesn't use it to do anything that he couldn't also do in a wet darkroom. The photographer is Michael Bryant, the type of camera he uses is a Holga. In the event that you're interested, here's a link to his website where he explains his method. Here's a couple of his photos that I didn't post previously:
  4. Thanks for posting as that's a very cool article but when I refer to using Photoshop on photographs I meant more in a sense of using it as a digital darkroom rather than radically altering the images themselves.
  5. I'm not a professional photographer by any stretch of the imagination but as much as I love Photoshop, I sort of miss the actual dark room.
  6. It's the El Peñón de Guatapé located in the town of Guatapé in Antioquia, Colombia. The photo I posted comes from this blog.
  7. Patti Smith sings Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush" from her new album Banga.
  8. Most likely because DAS started another thread for the Who. He couldn't find this one because the only search criteria he was using was "The Who". BTW, that's not a criticism, it's just an observation.
  9. I wasn't referring to them, I was referring to some of our fellow board members. On other boards I belong to that aren't devoted to a band that ceased to exist in 1980, their outlook on current music isn't nearly as glum and you don't encounter so many that are forever resigned to the past. In fact, those type of viewpoints are pretty much nonexistent on those boards.
  10. I've yet to see him live but I've heard nothing but good things. I really enjoyed his performance on Letterman recently with his band The Promise of the Real. And people say rock n' roll is dead? Bullfuckingshit. It's as though some people prefer to live with their heads under a rock and their fingers crammed in their ears. I'm just glad I'm not one of them. http://youtu.be/gM0dNzD3wVU
  11. Not that I'm complaining but unseasonably cool. Usually during this time of year in North Carolina it's hot and humid. I'm sure those days are coming though.
