Welcome to the board. I like a lot of Dylan's new records as well. Some folks, especially on boards such as this, seem to have no interest in listening to his latter day records. It's as though their musical development became stunted somewhere along the way and nothing after 1980 is deemed worthy of their attention. As for the Bootleg Series, there's tons of great stuff there which is a testament to just how outstanding his entire body of work is overall. To top that off, there's also the unofficial bootleg series that have been compiled by fans. Even though I've never heard any of those, it's my understanding that they outshine the official series.

The Temperance League is a great new band out of Charlotte fronted by Bruce Hazel. Think Springsteen, Southside Johnny, the Clash and Graham Parker all rolled into one and you'll begin to have some idea of what they sound like. This is the latest in a series of 45's they're putting out leading up to the release of their first full length record. Scored this thanks to Prine's current sale via his Facebook page. A different album will be featured for sale each weekend throughout the summer up until Labor Day. I have most everything of his either on vinyl or CD but still have a few holes to fill. This is one of 'em.

I'm not sure if it's the same version but there's an outtake of "Tangled Up In Blue" on the Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3: Rare and Unreleased 1961-1991 that's well worth seeking out.

I love Pop music myself. Zeppelin is also considered "Pop" music as it was (and still is) popular and even made it onto Top 40 radio stations.

Especially power pop. Such as this seminal album from the genre by Nick Lowe. "Pop" isn't a dirty word.

I missed this show but I did see the War On Drugs late last year when they played at King's Barcade in Raleigh (my first War On Drugs concert was during Hopscotch 2010). Definitely one of my very favorite bands in recent years. The ones that believe rock is dead or that there aren't any good rock bands anymore are a lost cause. If they believe either of those two things it's because they aren't looking. At least that's the only conclusion I can surmise.

I haven't picked it up yet but I am interested in reading Gregg's new memoir, My Cross To Bear. He's certainly been promoting the living shit out of it recently. I haven't caught all of the interviews but I have seen a few, including his appearance on CBS This Morning earlier this week where he was interviewed by Charlie Rose and Gayle King. As always, the line of questioning by Charlie Rose was measured and well researched. On the other hand, Gayle King had no place in that interview whatsoever. Gregg had to be downright embarrassed.
