  1. This was the second show of the 1975 US tour and the first in Chicago out of 3 nights. Robert is suffering from the flu and Jimmy's finger is still injured from when he hurt it on a train while rehearsing for the warm up shows in Rotterdam 1-11-75 and Brussels 1-12-75. He had to drop the more demanding Dazed and Confused and instead for the time being play How many More Times which hadn't been played in awhile. They also playied When the Levee Breaks and The Wanton Song which didn't last too many more shows after this. This was one of the first bootlegs I got on vinyl back in the '80's. Setlist: Rock and Roll Sick Again Over the Hills and Far Away When the Levee Breaks In My Time of Dying The Song Remains the Same Rain Song Kashmir The Wanton Song No Quarter Trampled Underfoot Moby Dick How Many More Times Stairway to Heaven Encores: Whole Lotta Love Black Dog Communication Breakdown Sick Again When the Levee Breaks or In My Time of Dying- I am leaning towards Levee as JPJ's bass doesn't look like the fretless. When the Levee Breaks In My Time of Dying The Song Remains the Same Kashmir The Wanton Song- notice the roadie moving the Theremin in the background for use in the next song-No Quarter Stairway to Heaven Stairway to Heaven Stairway to Heaven
  2. Don't know much about the jacket or the scarf except he wore them at this show for the first couple of numbers-Rock and Roll and Sick Again. But the photo I posted below is from the rehearsals for the 1980 European tour and he is wearing another jacket that is similar but a different color.
  3. Nice back view of the artwork- Oakland 7-23-77
  4. Me and my girlfriend at a friend's BBQ- my hair is a mess because of the wind blowing.
  5. The top photo is from 1979 and the second photo of Robert Plant wearing a mask is from Brighton, Brighton Dome 12-20-72 Here is Bonzo wearing a mask at the same show.
  6. God answered my prayers - he sent me this fantastic woman this weekend and we are in love- it can happen when you least expect it.
  7. Great band. Saw them live in Houston in 1999 with Allen Woody. Then I saw them again back to back- in Houston and then in New Orleans the next night 2001.
  8. I have dealt with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder since 1990. I have been on several medications but the one I am on now seems to work the best-Cymbalta. I am doing good now but years ago this really made my day to day functioning hard.
  9. Here is a very detailed link about Jimmy's symbols on his pants-the 4th album etc.. My link Here is a pic of the site of the Equinox book store-kinda small pic though. It's doors as the occult bookstore were closed in 1979 and in 2001 it became 'theTea Room'
  10. I read somewhere years ago that Jimmy had studied all forms of religion and that if he had not become a guitarist could actually be a theologian. One thing I am certain Jimmy didn't follow Crowley in was - Crowley was a bisexual. Another thing alot of people think because he was a collector etc of Crowley that he must be a Satanist- Crowley even admitted he was not a Satanist and Jimmy isn't one either. I am a Christian myself and I don't think Jimmy would be wearing a cross if he was a Satanist. Pic taken during Led Zeppelin's last European tour in 1980
  11. Look how Jimmy had let his hair grow since the 1977 US tour.
  12. Yes those are from the Rotterdam show- the things that you can look for is Jimmy's hair being longer and more full than '73 -Bonzo hasn't added the drum riser until the US '75 shows and the lighting rig behind Bonzo is nothing like the overhead rig for the US '75 shows and the white canvas is not up behing the stage either that hides the big Led Zeppelin light.
  13. This was the first warm up show out of two to get ready for the upcoming US 1975 tour. Jimmy starts off the show in the same clothes he wore at the last 3 shows in New York-Madison Square Garden in July 1973 (the 3 shows filmed for the movie-The Song Remains the Same) He then changes jackets just like he did at those 1973 shows after the first couple of songs. Then at the end when they come back for the encore he has changed into different pants. Since no audio has surfaced for this show yet-I assume it is very similar to the next nights show in Brussels. So they would be playing for the first time Sick Again, In My Time of Dying, Trampled Underfoot, Kashmir and The Wanton Song (which wouldn't last too far into the US '75 tour.) They also for the first time played When the Levee Breaks and since Jimmy had injured his finger on a train while rehearsing for these shows he had to drop the more demanding Dazed and Confused and instead for the time being play How many More Times which hadn't been played in awhile. Here is a link to a photoset- some great shots My link Rock and Roll or Sick Again In My Time of Dying or When the Levee Breaks In My Time of Dying or When the Levee Breaks Stairway to Heaven Stairway to Heaven Stairway to Heaven Stairway to Heaven Stairway to Heaven Encore: And notice Jimmy has changed his pants.
  14. I am a major Jethro Tull fan- I like every era and have everything they have released- all the remastered cd's with bonus tracks and the box sets etc. I am partial to Heavy Horses and I even like Under Wraps which a lot of people don't because of the computers and keyboards. Here are a couple lil trivia things. When Martin Barre was cutting the solo to the song-Aqualung Jimmy Page walked into the control room and Martin said he got nervous as he could see him thru the glass behind the mixing board and continued doing the solo and what you hear is that fantastic solo. Led Zeppelin were mixing their untitled fourth album at Island studios while Jethro Tull were recording Aqualung there. Also if you have a chance pick up the new Prog rock-sister magazine put out by Classic rock as it has a awesome write up on the anniversary of Aqualung. Barriemore Barlow is one of my fav drummers and Robert Plant and Jimmy Page liked him enough to use him on their solo albums. He plays 2 tracks on Robert's The Principle of Moments and he plays on 2 tracks of Jimmy's Outrider album.

  16. You are correct - weird it is here (photo) for the soundcheck on 8-2-79 but gone for the first Knebworth 8-4-79. That still doesn't help me on what clothes they wore for the second night in Copenhagen 7-24-79.
  17. I admire Lindsey a lot to-he is underated- the way he picks is kinda like Jeff Beck- he doesn't use a pick- he uses his fingers-unique sound.
  18. You hardly see Jimmy wearing shorts.

  20. We all know Jimmy Page had some of the most cool stage wear of any rock star out there. One of his masterpieces was the Black Dragon suit. Most people think he only wore it at the 5 earls Court shows in 1975- but he also wore it at some shows in 1977 as well. The very first appearance was not the full outfit but just the pants with a different jacket. The other jacket worn with the pants was the one worn on most of the concert dates in 1972-1973 and in the movie-'The Song Remains the Same.' Maybe someone else knows why he didn't wear the jacket the first time- maybe the person who made it for him hadn't finished it yet. That first appearance of the pants was at the last US show in 1975. The 3rd and last night at the Los Angeles Forum March 27, 1975. Then of course he wore the full jacket and pants at the 5 Earls Court shows in May 1975. I would have more pics from these shows but most are misdated etc and I only like to post what I know to be 100% correct date and venue. Most of you have seen the footage on the official DVD -2003 and that footage was taken from the 4th and 5th nights- 5-24 & 25-1975. One lil bit of trivia-they all wore the same oufits for all 5 shows except on the 3rd night- Robert Plant wore a different blouse. The one he wore alot on the US tour '75- the blouse I like to call the Red Cherry blouse. The other 4 nights was the dark blue blouse. Then the Black Dragon suit didn't make another appearance until the 1977 tour and the first time was at the Largo 5-28-77 show(3rd night out of 3). he wore the full outfit along with a white scarf. The next appearance was at the Los Angeles Forum -secong night out of six. June 22, 1977. The interesting thing about this show is he wore the full outfit again with white scarf(scarf taken off after first couple of numbers) but after he came back fro the ending of the Over the Top/Moby Dick segment he was wearing the full White Dragon suit. I know this because I know the guy who took some of these pics I am posting and that is what his roll of film shows and what he remembers he did- I will have a full photo thread of this show soon. Also I have had the silent video footage of this show for years but because it was silent- just thought it was another LA show out of the six nights but now with these guys who again I say hats off to- have synched up the sound to all the silent footage- I now know it is all from one night. The proof being the late playing of Over the Hills and Far Away on that footage while all the other shows when they played it was 4th song in the set. Next appearance was at Tempe , Arizona 7-20-77 and no photos have surfaced yet but one review says Jimmy wore the Black Dragon suit pants with a plain black t-shirt and a white scarf. Hopefully someday pics will appear. The last appearance of the Black Dragon suit was the first of two outdoor shows played in Oakland on 7-23-77. This was the next to last US show Zeppelin ever played. He wore the full Black Dragon suit with a plain black t-shirt-no white scarf this time. 3-27-75/ Los Angeles Forum- Black Dragon pants only-different jacket. 5-17-75 Earls Court -Full Black Dragon suit 5-18-75 Earls Court -Full Black Dragon suit 5-23-75 Earls Court -Full Black Dragon suit 5-24-75 Earls Court -Full Black Dragon suit 5-25-75 Earls Court -Full Black Dragon suit 5-28-77 Largo, Maryland- Full Black Dragon suit with white scarf 6-22-77 Los Angeles Forum -Full Black Dragon suit with white scarf 7-20-77 Tempe, Arizona - Black Dragon pants- plain black t-shirt with white scarf 7-23-77 Oakland, CA - Full Black Dragon suit with plain black t-shirt Los Angeles Forum 3-27-75 LA Forum 3-27-75 Kashmir- LA Forum 3-27-75 Whole Lotta Love- LA Forum 3-27-75 Earls Court 5-17-75 In My Time of Dying-Earls Court-5-18-75 Dazed and Confused-Earls Court 5-18-75 Stairway to Heaven-Earls Court 5-18-75 Whole Lotta Love- Earls Court 5-18-75 Kashmir- Earls Court 5-23-75 Kashmir-Earls Court 5-23-75 No Quarter-Earls Court 5-23-75 (rare use of his lake placid blue stratocaster) Tangerine-Earls Court 5-23-75 In my Time of Dying- Earls Court 5-24-75 Heartbreaker- Earls Court- 5-25-75
  21. I had read that too- I think in Dave Lewis's concert book but can't remember which night it was haha also most of these that are dated 7-23 I believe as they were only using half the lights the first night.
  22. It was the name of a dildo in the book-Naked Lunch written by William S. Burroughs. I love Steely Dan- shame they didn't tour until years later-starting in 1993 after the early ones they did in 1974. I have two live cd's from that 1974 tour- awesome here is a great link- a FAQ on Steely Dan My link
  23. OK I would like someone to tell me if at the Copenhagen warm up shows in 1979 at the Falkoner Teatret on July 23 and 24 -did they wear the same clothes like at the two Knebworth shows. I know that the clothes I have seen- Jimmy in a orange shirt like the one from Knebworth and docker style slacks with the blue shoes. Robert in a pale blue dress upshirt(long sleeve) with blue jeans and those white boots like he wore at Knebworth. John Paul Jones in dark baggy pants with a white t-shirt and converse all stars sneakers(dark color-with white trim) John Bonham is wearing what looks like that shirt that he wore in those famous outdoors shots taken on the Knebworth grounds( the pants are not blue jeans like the outdoors shot but maybe white light colored slacks. Anyway I received no doubt about it pics with the ticket stub from the first show on the 23rd from a guy who went to the show. So I know that this is what they wore on the first night but every other photo I have seen they are wearing the same clothes. I have studied stuff on the stage etc and can't figure out any difference- one pic would do it for sure- a pic of them playing Ten Years Gone on the second night-as they only played it at the 2nd in Copenhagen and the first night in Knebworth. I am eventually going to do one of my photo threads of these shows but not until I know for certina what the second night's clothes look like- any help, photos etc would help. Here are two shows from another site claiming to be from the first night. I am not gonna post the pics the guy gave me as they are unseen and I want to wait for the photo thread to share them with everyone. So these pics will at least let you see what clothes I have described above look like- Just affirmation on the second night's clothes. Thanks everyone. . Nobody's Fault but Mine Either Black Dog or Over the Hills and Far Away
