  1. Because soundboard recordings are mostly better than audience recordings. So if a bootlegger has an audience tape of a gig but there are sections available from soundboard it's better to edit them in, particularly if the audience tape isn't great the soundboard recordings could be from the stash of tapes stolen from Page long ago. Bands sometimes record gigs to playback to themselves to check how the shows are sounding. And in Zeppelins case it seems the jam sections of songs are what Page was listening to, maybe to develop and refine cues to progress from one section to another and to see what motifs and licks work best
  2. What is it you're suggesting here? I don't get it and I'd like to
  3. are you suggesting that in the released soundtrack Page used snippets of the European tour? that's very difficult to do, variances in volume, tone and speed. I think Page had enough on his plate dealing with just the three MSG shows SIBLY is nowhere near the same as MSG version. Not that I thought there was any substance in this suggestion but I'm enjoying listening to the Mobile show anyway though,
  4. So in the film SSRTS you're suggesting that the actual film of them onstage at MSG they're miming to a playback from Mobile? and then at Shepperton they're miming to a film of them miming to a playback of Mobile? Black Dog has a different guitar solo and noticeably different vocals. if you think they're identical you're getting carried away with your own hunch. They are similar but they're not that similar. But then they're bound to be similar playing the same set list every night and despite Page's insistence that every night they were walking the tightrope of improvisation, they weren't and some sections eg the rockabilly part of WLL are always pretty much the same in template, variations in parts but mostly similar..
  5. I remember that from the 90s. It’s something that someone created in the style of Page but it isn’t him.
  6. I was reading an account of this in Mark Ellen’s book. They were both up all night on red wine and coke the night before accompanied by two fair maidens
  7. Page had some cheek putting his name for a song writing credit on this. my opinion is that most the charges of plagiarism are Planty's fault for using old blues lyrics. But claiming this as his own is well below the belt and hasn't done page any favours in later more recent years when charges of theft have been put his way
  8. Diary entry from the yardbirds US tour. " the rest of the band go out to watch a singer named Jake Holmes, who I have definitely never heard of, but I decide to stay in and work on a new tune of mine called dazed and confused"
  9. it will be good news if he does write an autobiography I predict it will be released "next year" !
  10. I had a quick look through the article while in the shop today. Does he say he will write an autobiography? I didn't have my gasses on
  11. How do you know it already exists? And when will be the right time to expose it do you think?
  12. No one is blaming Jimmy for his inactivity, not me anyway. I have no problem whether he does or doesn't have a new musical project. But he is responsible for fifteen years or more of promising he will release new music "next year" and not delivering it. Either do it or stop saying it will happen when he knows very well it won't.
  13. It’s been about 10 - 15 years of Jimmy claiming there’ll be something “next year”. He’s just a bullshitter
  14. they certainly look realistic but could be fakes. Planty and Jonesy's ar a little easier to check as they haven't changed too much over the years whereas Pagey's has. though that could make he a little easier to fake. is there any other info or evidence that comes with them to help strengthen the claim?
  15. As far as I'm aware this event hasn't played in the UK yet and I'm curious as to whether there's a reason for that i wouldn't attend it myself so it's not a complaint, it just seems odd to me that it hasn't happened
  16. Yes you can have both on. This allows the one that isn’t being played to resonate
  17. Given that Freddie pretty much set up the Knebworth festivals to book Zeppelin its shameful the way Peter grant dealt with him ultimately leading to Freddie's bankruptcy after Zeppelin eventually did play the festival
  18. Any '58 or '59 sunburst could sell for £100000 to £200000 easily. They are extremely sought after. At auction Page's would sell for many times more
  19. you can get very small tube/valve amps which create great tone and crunch at a low volume so you can play in your home. Blackstar do a 1W model, which I have and use at home and they do an even better 5 watt model. Many amp companies now do a small size valve model Epiphone, Orange. Fender do a 15 watt valve amp - blues junior and may do even smaller not all of them will give the tone you're maybe looking for are worth trying. you can also utilise pedals to enhance your sound - overdrive or distortion
  20. my wife saw Whitesnake just last week at a festival. she's not a fan (she took her little brother )but before she went she did check out some older stuff of theirs so she'd know what to expect and although she didn't like their material she did say his voice was good. when she came home from the gig she said his voice hadn't stood up well and sounded pretty shot
  21. I don't know what Coverdale has had done to his face but he's looking pretty strange these days
  22. lovely. but your "Jimmy" needs to get different shoes to go with the suit
  23. yep and he could also get in a plug for the polo shirts and mugs available from his site maybe he should just open a shop to sell his tat
  24. I nearly put distance miking! I must admit id forgotten about the reverse echo. no doubt we'll hear how glyn johns said it couldn't be done. I wonder if Page will say that he recorded it on a telecaster and a supro amp and how they are available to buy!
