  1. I shot this iPhone vid last night. Not great quality, but a great moment when they played the last song of the main set - Would - then came back for the first encore song - Man In The Box.
  2. 2 great shows in the past 5 days. First, saw Vintage Trouble at a local club here, Sky City Saturday night. Easily the best show I've ever seen in Augusta. If you haven't checked them out, they are amazing. http://youtu.be/ThZZnS4Jvwc Then last night, I got to see Alice In Chains at the Bell Auditorium, a rather cozy local venue. The new singer William Duvall is excellent, and very energetic. I never saw Layne Staley live, so it's easier for me to adapt to the new singer. I shot this iPhone vid of the last song of the main set - Would - and then the first song of the encore set - Man In The Box.

I was gonna say something similar. I view meters as "long yards". LOL

Not yet. They're still proudly on display in the living room. And by proudly, I mean my wife is already insisting I find a place to put them. LOL Seriously, I'm scouting around for the nearest driving range. I need to go hit a bucket of balls with each type of club just to get an idea. I haven't swung golf clubs in over 30 years, and even then I was a teenager just trying to blast the ball. I'm way out of shape, so it will be an overall get into shape deal. Savannah - I'm just a couple hours from there!

Here's pics. They're Founder's Club brand, a matching set with matching bag! They're way better than anything I would have found at the Goodwill store, for sure. I'll be cleaning those bad boys up soon as I get home tonight. LOL

OK, so I was scheduled to take photos of the entrance to our Golf Course for the website since everything is in full bloom. Went down and spoke to the Course manager, and he had tons of clubs and whatnot in his office, so i started talking about how I played online with the WGT.com site, and how much fun it was, and how I now recognized most of the various clubs he had - Rocketballz and such. He said I was about the 5th person in the past week to say the same thing about WGT.com.. I went into how I was having so much fun that I told my wife I was gonna buy an old set of clubs from Goodwill for $25 or so to give it a try. So he tells me, "Don't bother, I have an entire set of rental clubs we don't use anymore you can have, when you come back this afternoon I'll set up a bag for you. They're banged up, but they'll get you started." I almost fell out! So I'm totally psyched about getting a free starter set! Life is good.

Good post. Totally agree on the issue of the spirit of the rule. I'm actually a big Tiger fan, but not to the point of overlooking things. I believe the rule was JUST changed last year, so it's not like it was something obscure. Not sure how many would risk ridicule, coming off as petty or nit-picky by calling him on it. Almost like when someone with you does something mildly inappropriate, and you find yourself surprised, thinking you wouldn't expect it from them, but you don't feel comfortable pointing it out. I imagine even among the pros, Tiger is somewhat of a larger-than-life figure, and could be somewhat daunting. Still a fan, but a little disappointed he didn't take a more honorable approach.
  12. A few already mentioned I like - Roxy Music Stranded LZ Physical Graffiti Black Sabbath Mob Rules Always been a fan of Hypgnosis covers - they did a lot of Floyd and Zeppelin covers. Hypgnosis covers in particular I've always liked include: UFO Obsession Led Zeppelin Presence Scorpions Lovedrive Special mention for Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here The front cover with the guy in flames has the section where it looks like it's burning the boundary of the photo, and the back cover of the man on the sand dune has what looks like a tear in the cover where sand is pouring out. As a graphic artist, this kind of attention to detail thrills me. Some of the NON-Hypgnosis covers I like: The Cult Sonic Temple This is the ultimate classic guitarist pose, with the bonus classic singer-throwing-their-long-hair-back pose in the background. I just recently discovered this album cover from Dead Soul Tribe, and the music is really good, as well. What I like is how well the cover illustrates what I might imagine a dead soul to appear - kinda of blurry and indistinct yet with recognizable features and the inclusion of flames. Really well done, IMO.
  13. ^^^ THIS ^^^ Jonathan Winters is probably my very first favorite comedian. My parents had many of his comedy LPs and I would listen and laugh to them for hours when I was as young as 7 or 8. I remember memorizing a lot of the bits. It's been a while since a celebrity death has made me truly feel sad and miss someone. RIP Jonathan Winters.
  14. There are only bad options. It's about finding the best one. You don't have a better bad idea than this? This IS the best bad idea we have, sir. I LOL'd seriously.

The crowds are here! Just got back from the Rock Fore Dough Charity Concert they hold every year on Masters Tuesday. Used to have Hootie and the Blowfish every year, but now just one of the band members - Mark Bryan - helped emcee. One of the performers was the singer from Collective Soul, Ed Roland and the Sweet Tea Project. Also Need To Breathe and Grace Potter. Not a big deal of a lineup, but lots of people were there, and it was FREE! (Our office received a huge stack of tickets to give out to the soldiers, and we had a lot left over.) The best part of all is the weather. It was absolutely perfect out tonight. Sitting on the blanket was as pleasant as sitting in my home, temperature-wise. Friday night Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing, which is kinda cool. I'd definitely go to that if I could score free tickets.
  16. This is one of those movies that slipped through the cracks on me. Meaning to see it, but didn't get a chance until last night. Well worth the wait. Disturbingly realistic.
  17. Saw this at the theater yesterday. A little more mainstream than I imagined, but very good. A lot of big names in the cast. Somewhat violent, but it's not especially gratuitous. Overall, I liked it.
  18. Very cool movie I watched last night. It was pretty hard to follow the extreme accents, but I almost think it was intentional. Pretty complex movie to follow - you really have to pay attention. But the payoff is worth it. There are a lot of very intense characters here, as well as a lot of humor. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth a couple hours of your time to watch. Brad Pitt is incredible. Another recommended movie I've managed to see is Killer Joe. Great recommendation, Strider.

A little of both. The average resident with no interest in golf sees it a s a necessary evil, I guess, LOL. Others enjoy the excitement of having an influx of celebrities and people spending a lot of money. Obviously, it's a huge boost for those in F&B and services. My son is a server at Outback Steaakhouse and he's looking forward to making some serious coin during the week, large tips and large parties. I have the opportunity (again) to go set up a single chair on the 18th green on Sunday. I've done it 2 other years in the past 3 or 4 years. My mother-in-law's church has a connection with an Executive Services companiy that sells Masters® packages that include a guaranteed seat on the 18th green, so they recruit teens 14 and up along with a number of adults to help chaperone and they pay each person $50 cash. You have to be there around 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning, and they issue each person an actual Masters® badge so they can get in the gate, along with the approved folding chair They have a number of group leaders from the company that know exactly where the best place to set up seats are at, and they supervise everyone and act as the lead. Stand around outside the Gate for about an hour until it opens, move as quickly as possible into the security area, and when that opens you move through security (no cell phones whatsoever) and on to the entrance. Then you stand around another 30 or 45 minutes until they open the main entrance onto the grounds, and it's this crazy fast-walk (they are crazy strict about no running) as quickly as possible to 18, where they claim as much real estate as possible with their chairs. There's an unspoken rule or whatever that chair positioning is sacrosanct, so once the chairs are set up, they are done, and we walk back out of the tournament. Slim to no chance of actually seeing a celeb or a golfer. Then, at some much later time when the corporate exec whose company paid fat cash for him to attend finally awakens from his slumber and has a wonderful breakfast, he'll have a great view of 18 waiting for him when he eventually gets there. My favorite part is they drop us back at their headquarters where they have a pretty high-end breakfast buffet set up for all those big shots, and we get a free trip through the breakfast buffet as well! The kids don't care so much, they end up shooting pool on the pool tables, but I see the buffet as the perfect bonus to a short morning's work to pick up a fun, if not totally easy $50 cash. Also, one year I was working part-time as a limo driver, and during Masters® week they had us shuttling clients from Augusta to the Atlanta airport and back all during the Tournament. Averaged about $20 an hour plus very nice tips to just pick a person up at a designated spot in town, drive 2 hours to the airport and drop them off. Of course, there's a whole industry of people who rent their homes out during Masters® week. Depending how close to the course or how luxurious the home, people get anywhere from $4000 and up to rent out their home during the Tournament. Again, the big corporations are the main customers. There's a gated community called West Lake where a lot of fat cats live that a great many of the major corporations and also golfers themselves rent some of the homes for $10,000 and much more for the week. Many people rent out their home and use the money to fund a vacation while the home's being rented. In general, I just avoid that part of town unless absolutely necessary during early morning and after 5 or 6 when the crowds start letting out. The streets are lined with vendors and scalpers, and it's quite a party. The night life is full of typical stories of people with lots of money doing crazy stuff, getting way too drunk, etc. Overall, it's a pretty fun time.

And I can never understand why someone would feel such a strong need to enter a thread about something they dislike in order to let everyone know how much they dislike it. Seriously, what is the purpose of such a post? And then to disparage those posting by mentioning golfers you knew who were "arrogant pricks" - which is tacitly implying that about golfers in general, and by extension, those posting here. That was a pretty dick move, and for no understandable reason.

I live in Augusta, Georgia, so you all know what that means. The Masters® Tournament. Actually, I should have said, I live in Augusta, Georgia - Home of The Masters®. LOL So every year for the Masters®, a different golfer is invited to do a clinic / meet & greet with the soldiers. As the photographer, I get to meet them, so it's pretty cool. I've got a signed hat from Boo Weekly (orange camo, LOL). He came out to the base during Masters® 2009. Nice guy. Also a signed ball from 2-time Masters Champion Ben Crenshaw. And I have a signed photo of Fuzzy Zoeller from a couple years ago, but it's at my desk.

One of my current projects here at work is developing a virtual 360° photo tour of our course here on Base. It's designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and considered one of the best golf courses in the Army. As soon as I get it finished, I'll post a link here to see it, it's a really beautiful course. Here's the site.
