  1. Finally got around to seeing Savages. Wow. Super intense. Had a feel similar to Traffic and Crash. Also seen recently: The Great Gatsby A great big, gaudy Meh. Using songs by Jay-Z and even some Dubstep music was a huge mistake. It took away from the period setting. I'd have to say it basically sucked. After Earth Not horrible. But not real good, either. The film reflected the reality of it's making, i.e., Will Smith guiding Jaden across the terrain to save their lives, and guiding him through the course of becoming an action star of his own. The Wolverine I'm not a comic book fan, but this was a pretty good movie. The fight scene atop the bullet train was extreme and harrowing. The Numbers Station I like John Cusack, and this was a decent story. Not bad if you enjoy secret agent stories.
  2. Infinity was an awesome album. This is a big reason why. Much like Heartbreaker and Living Loving Maid, they just belong together. http://youtu.be/eEIOE0J3oIM

Lifted off Facebook from Slave. Funny, because it's easy to imagine this very conversation.
  4. Happy Birthday, muh man! Hope it's a good 'un!
  5. Loved him in Get Shorty and Snatch.
  6. Oh WOW! I had no idea I shared a birthday with Jason! Just found out today I share it with Rembrandt - thanks, Google. That is so awesome.
  7. Moar Birthday awesomeness! Thanks, guys! I'm having a good day. Had a Birthday Breakfast at work, instead of the normal Birthday Cake. It was pretty cool.
  8. Woohoo - thanks, guys! To quote Furious Styles in Boyz in tha Hood - I'm not getting older, I'm getting better. LOL

Didn't mean to bleed it like that. Wasn't aware of the background. I see the humor now, at least - thanks!

Hard to believe KTVU News in San Francisco got trolled this bad. This is trolling in it's highest form. Seriously, though - what shoddy fact-checking / research.
  12. Watched 2 movies last night - one I'd seen before and one I hadn't. I delayed seeing The Dictator because I expected something possibly worse than Bruno. Surprisingly, it wasn't as intentionally uncomfortable and pointless, and was actually quite funny throughout. I'm not sure if this has been panned as much as I've heard, but I actually found it to be very funny, and even clever at the end with it's indictment of the state of our country's present government. I have seen Tropic Thunder a number of times before, and I enjoy it more with each viewing. After catching a sweet buzz and re-watching it again last night with a couple friends - one who had never seen it - I am obliged to proclaim this movie as criminally underrated. I can't remember the last time I've laughed so hard at a movie. The comedy is, at times, exquisitely subtle, and at others, necessarily yet appropriately in your face. And Tom Cruise's Les Grossman is absolutely the best character I've ever seen him play. Every Les Grossman scene is epic. But then, Hollywood is usually pretty good at self-mockery and outright evisceration. I can't think of a single character that wasn't played well, from executives and their assistants to actors and their agents to film crew. Danny McBride stands out in a peripheral role that really fuels the movie. Each of the main characters have numerous key scenes that perfectly showcase their particular style of humor. And the whole movie-within-a-movie template is done really well. Honestly, if you have somehow manged to not see this movie yet, or, even worse, assumed it was just another tired, cookie-cutter comedy, do yourself a favor and watch it. It's guaranteed to bring the serious LOLs from start to finish.

Hate to appear dull, but I don't get it. Explanation, anyone?

    Oldie but a goodie.
  15. 2 for tonight, courtesy of Netflix. This was practically useless. Yeah, I know I'm about 30+ years late but hey, I'd never seen it. Not even a ghost of the original, quality-wise. I watched this solely on the presence of Woody. That's about it. He plays a pretty good role, but the movie isn't really about much, and ends weakly.
  16. Newer stuff that sounds great with a buzz (my main criterion for a lot of music, it would seem, LOL). The T-Pain Bang Bang Pow Pow is a cool song, but including Lil Wayne was a huge mistake. Probably some of the weakest lyrics ever from an idiot known for weak lyrics. DISCLAIMER: I don't necessarily hold the opinion that these are all great artists, but that I happen to like these particular songs. http://youtu.be/Kw6RR3IRjQs
  17. Since Straight Outta Compton has already been listed, here are my additions. Doggystyle - Some of the best catch-a-buzz music ever. More NWA / Dr. Dre stuff.

Took this photo of a digital sign on the outside of the Monte Carlo Casino. Couldn't help but laugh. We're All VIPs, LOL
  21. Thanks! Yeah, I've learned to dig into the guts of the iPhone, mostly out of necessity. Most times it's turned out well, but a couple times, not so much. The MUTE switch on my wife's old 3GS stopped working, so I went in to fix that. By the time I got through, not only the MUTE switch, but the Volume UP/DOWN buttons and the EARPHONE JACK all weren't working. LOL THAT's why she has the 4S now! And just this week I attempted a screen replacement on an iPod Touch 4, 64GB that the screen had been smashed on. When I first started on it, I discovered my kids had been picking at the broken pieces and in doing so, had damaged a copper cable that was the WIFI antenna, so I had to order that, as well. But when I got in there, I accidentally pulled the tiny wires loose from the external speaker, and before I got it back together, had dislodged a major ribbon cable from the logic board. Needless to say, it's toast. Although, I am happy to report, I listed it too on Craigslist AS IS, and I just got a call to swap it for a 32" Flat Screen TV. So not bad. Guy says his kid messes with iPods and whatnot and wants it for parts. So I guess that would be my WHAT MADE ME HAPPY for today, LOL.
  22. Last night, actually. Last Wednesday, on our way home from Vegas, the screen on my wife's iPhone 4S stopped working. It would still ring if called or texted to, and when I got home and hooked it up to iTunes, it was recognized. I even did a full factory restore - still nothing. By yesterday she simply wanted a phone that worked, so I listed her phone on Craigslist at a giveaway price, hoping to recover SOME amount of cash to offset the purchase of another iPhone. After listing it, I Googled the problem once more, and discovered someone who reported that sometimes the screen cable comes loose from the logic board. So I began disassembly, although you don't have to go too far in to reach that particular ribbon cable plug. Sure enough, it seemed that it may not have been seated well. I disconnected and then firmly reconnected the various connectors, and by the time I was putting the final screw in, the phone was booting up, and that glorious Apple logo was perfectly visible! As a bonus, I used a Q-Tip to clean the rear camera lens, as all her photos were somewhat blurry and clouded. So now her phone works again, as well as the camera. I was quite the happy camper!
