  4. 'I saw that the gods of rock were mere mortals' The Times (London); Oct 22, 2010; Stephen Davis; p. 7 ...Response to Excerpt from Article.... Origins of Song Kashmir are indeed in India....as Robert Plant'75 explains/proof of article from Hindustant Times 2007 attached... Excerpt from Stephen Davis Book: "We spoke a bit about Physical Graffiti, still reigning over the charts at No 1, and I asked Robert about Kashmir. "It was originally called Driving to Kashmir," he said. "I spent some time in India after we formed the group, and that's been a major influence on my life. I learnt a lot about a different kind of music, with different kinds of scales and singing styles. And I remember being in one of the towns, recording street musicians, when a Pakistani plane flew over to bomb and there was a sudden blackout. Everything stopped except the street musicians, probably because they thought they weren't gonna get paid. "Anyway, all the bombs missed the town and landed in the fields. So I think the musicians might have played the danger away, so to speak. If their music could protect the town, I'd like to think we could have a force like that. Just kind of... playing the danger away." Did he, I asked, actually make it as far as the Vale of Kashmir? "No, not yet," he laughed. "Our Kashmir is really a state of mind. But in a way, we go there every night [on tour]."

  6. ...this is all I can find further... Later that year, after two tours of Europe and unbelievable tour of the US, I got married to my wife Laurie in Kenmare in the Kingdom of County Kerry, where — after a few days of celebrating and enjoying time with my daughter Aisling and my entire family of friends — Robert and Jimmy performed with a local band for the 80 people at the wedding. It was amazing year for me with the start of a new life and the ever-stellar job I have as a lighting designer which has opened doors to Kings, Queens, Legends and Icons and that’s just the music business... I also have a few Presidents as clients. 7. ....I am not sure if you have seen this... The tour has taken the band from clubs to arenas and even Kenny's own wedding reception, which took place in Ireland during a tour break in August. The rest of the tour's lighting crew includes crew chief Ian "Dobbo" Dobson, Icon programmer/technician Drew Findley, and dimmer technician Russell "Bits" Lyons. The tour will finish up in Europe this month. link: http://livedesignonline.com/mag/lighting_loading_everywhere/ A Fortunate Man Nov 1, 2002 12:00 PM, Catherine McHugh How One Thing Led to Another in LD Tom Kenny's Career http://livedesignonline.com/mag/lighting_fortunate_man/

  10. ....Search function results indicate nothing on this ..... Hippopotamus in New York City was a Euro style club that one member wrote in to say; "They stopped making clubs like this one a long time ago." The following information on the Hippopotamus was provided by DiscoMusic.com member, "amilkman" on September 17, 2009: The Hippo had two locations over the years of its history. The first one was on 54th Street between 3rd. Ave and Lexington Ave, where the Citicorp Building now stands. The 2nd locatio was at 405 East 62nd Street (not 61st St.) which is now an apartment condominium. The owner's name is Olivier Coquelin a Frenchman whose name was synonomous with the early Jet Set era. Olivier attracted a clientele of the most important names of the time, Frank Sinatra, Mick Jagger and Bianca, George Hamilton, George Plimpton, Oassis, Roy Cohn, Alan Jay Lerner, etc. Talk about bringing back memories. I worked for Olivier Coquelin for many years ...from the time he open the ‘HIPPO’ at the old Arthur location that had been run by Sybil Burton, ex-wife of Richard Burton. It was a wonderful job meeting tons of great people and my manager Jerry Love who was then head of a and r at A and M records. True Jerry did have a reserved booth at the Hippopotomus. At the 54th Street location his booth was right in front of the disco booth where Eric was the DJ. May a night Jerry would be there with Paul Williams the gifted song writer and now President of ASCAP. I became a writer with Jerry music company Love/Zager and co-wrote with Michael Zager. Had an instrmental on the Afro Cuban Blue Band ...a song called ‘Jerry’s Theme,’ yes named for Jerry..... So I am currently writing an auto biography and came upone this site. The second location of hippopotomus was 63rd between 1st and York. Another interesting look into the past....before HIPPO there was The Salvation at one Sheridan Square. I waited on the Beatles there and Paul paid the bill leaving me a $100 tip. That was a great place...Jimmy Page came in, Jimmy Hendricks, Frank Sinatra so many celebs. Anyway Olivier recruited a lot of his waitress from there. Many of us went to Nepentha first. So happy I came across this site...so many memories. Barbara Link: http://www.discomusic.com/clubs-more/1968_0_6_0_C/ ....I think I just found the answer, Jimmy did go to the Salvation, this is when Jimi Hendrix was "Not so Well"....it has been answered...
  11. ...MTS Centre, Winnipeg, October 17, 7:30 P.M. Memorable Night, likewise, some memories on their way to become legendary....
  12. Deborah, it was indeed an emotional night, as I heard our fav Band's music being performed on stage for the first time, that too in company of my Son, (He is Zep literate along with his own DJ stuff or what-ever the young people do now days - He has his Shop in the basement) LOL!!! .... we were Section 105 Row 8 (side staged South/West corner - fantastic view). It was relatively intimate evening Jason was graced with at least 3 or 4 Standing Ovations... Moby D Performance was so fascinating, my son was just moved as in beyond his expectations, never seen before, it was too amazing. (Jason remained engaged with the audience quite a bit, throughout the performances, remained true to his word that it was all about his Father, and that he is his Son paying Tribute to Him) Deborah - at least two musicians have long hair - how's that for remaining faithful to the 70's!!! ...Thanks everybody for the videos, (I will post some later) and Kiss of Fire, that is excellent review from Winnipeg Sun, it is perfectly honest, as I saw it...( I couldn't see what was happening on the main floor, too crowded, dark); I looked around constantly for audience reaction....I honestly cannot think of single person complaining around me, or looked bored, it was really magnificent evening!!!! Winnipeg is a very lively place for sure, great fans to say the least!!!
  13. ....just got back from MTS Arena, I will say this....No one can fight destiny, but one should try...Jason, it will forever be memorable, a treasure, that you shared your personal memories with us...... ...How I wished I could have seen Zep back in the 70's, but I was all too naive, well times have changed!!! Myself and My son got to hear Zep with Jason....Jason ended the show with these words "we like to end the show with something from the Far East, Kashmir, I am unable to describe the magic in just few words (for a moment I was caught between two worlds, too beautiful and emotional beyond words, the Singer James Dylan (Sp?)...was Robert Plant reincarnated, they came back with Immigrant Song, and more Whole Lotta Love......for now... I will upload pic'/videos later among many other fans I am sure... not edited for sp..
  14. ...tks for sharing those....very beautiful culture of the mid'70's, I hope to see some more photos from Writer Stephen D's upcoming book....
  15. ...the year '75 is most interesting to me personally in all of my newness in new land, 13 years of age, when Zep toured in the early winter'75....I shall remain open minded, I will connect with the local library, Here is little excerpt from Rodney Bingenheimer (I scanned this article long while ago); Guitar World'86 ..."But the glory days of the sixties were coming to a halt and the "anything goes" attitude of the Hyatt House and the hoopla surrounding the English bands was dying. Or rather changing... Previously many fans from the Led Zeppelin era here on the forum state that in '75 the "groupie" scene was increasingly coming to halt, the drugs were very much present... IMHO Freedom of Writers/Press is very important.... in mutual respect, the "Notes" likewise should be publicly made available in the book, I hope someone in Zep Camp will attend to this... ed for SP
