Yes, Manson has swine flu. "So I have officially been diagnosed, by a real doctor, with THE SWINE FLU," Manson wrote on his MySpace blog on Monday. Of course, Manson couldn't resist getting a shot in at his former girlfriend(s) (Evan Rachel Wood, anyone?) when making the announcement to the world. "I know everyone will suggest that fucking a pig is how this disease was obtained. However, the doctor said, my past choices in women have in no way contributed to me acquiring this mysterious sickness. "Unfortunately, I am going to survive." It's not known whether Manson's swine flu will result in any cancellations, but maybe it's to blame for the shitty reviews his performances in support of the recently released The High End Of Low have been getting lately. Manson isn't the only musician to contract swine flu this year. Melissa Auf Der Maur came down with the disease this summer, as did Kasabian and Jens Lekman. I am pleased to report that his London, Ontario show was uneventful(no arrests/injuries that I'm aware of). In Monday's Free Press it stated there were @ 2200 at his gig on Sat night. The three sentence review was overshawdowed by the review for The Kings of Leon who drew a capacity crowd on Sunday night... I hope noone who was at the JLC over the weekend gets the swine flu... Juliet PS I visited the area on Sat but couldn't stay for the show...better take my temperature....disinfect my karma etc etc...have a stiff vodka or two...just kidding... The tour is still on but one Ottawa fan was complaining that Marilyn and company didn't play long. I thought people were supposed to stay home if they had the swine flu. I was watching a US show this am. One hospital has tents outside to house the numerous patients they expect once the flu season gets into full gear.. Marilyn dating a Canadian..no it would never work,eh? He doesn't seem like the type of guy who would go to a hockey game... I see MM's tour is still on for the East coast gigs in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.. MM has been on the Canadian leg of his tour for the past week or so. This week he posted he has Swine flu. I doubt he would go back home to be diagnosed. This means he was seen by a Canadian doctor possibly here in Ontario maybe even in London.. Juliet PS Saltypete...I agree that he should prove it..patients with SW are supposed to be at home PSS Earlier I questioned who paid MM's medical bill but I assume he has travel insurance so I deleted that rather silly question...However I do wonder if he had to wait long to be seen by a doctor...WAIT TIME is a political hot potato now in this province and country...politicians use it in their election campaigns as each one vows to reduce a patient's wait time in the Emerg dept or for specialist care etc etc.. Yesterday his post about his swine flu on his Facebook page was no longer there... J PS I believe he could do a great job covering Alice Cooper's tune Only Women Bleed. All of a sudden it was retracted to make it look like he didn't have it. I'm guessing it was done so attendance at his shows wouldn't be affected, or perhaps was just a big publicity stunt? This flu is contagious. One is supposed to stay home. However if one is in the middle of a tour, I hypothesize that is not the easiest thing to do. Perhaps he was misdiagnosed and just has a bad case of "on the road" flu. Let's hope his entourage is well...or has recovered if they, indeed, also fell ill.. In any case, I speculate they have a good supply of hand sanitizer for the remainder of the tour..lemon or strawberry scented or non-scented...whatever...best to keep a good supply with you, at work and at home Juliet Ps Any website on H1N1 is a fascinating read...I highly recommend it... Dr. Sanjay Gupta was on the same show..I like Sanjay... I was reading an article in the Toronto Star about Brian L. The rest of the BSB did not have symptoms but were given Tamiflu as a precaution. Juliet PS I changed my mind about Marilyn (ak.a. Brian Warner) covering Pinball Wizard and Levon...not suited for his range..He should cover Canadian folksinger Bruce Cockburn's tune, Lovers in a Dangerous Time; The Doors' tune, Love Her Madly and The Bee Gees' tune, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.
