Deborah J
Where & When to Look up in the Night Sky: http://www.meteorblog.com/ From The Farmer's Almanac -- Dates of Meteor Showers: http://www.farmersalmanac.com/meteor-showers Thanks Rover, I love this stuff, and will be using my trusted telescope! I am fortunate to live where there are no street lights, so the sky is always beautiful here (when there are no clouds).
The Rover
They say, that the best way to view Meteor Showers is with a low power telescope, or, just binoculars, reclining in a lounge chair... with some good music playing in your ipod ! eternal light
I went outside at 10:00 pm and 2:00 am and did not see any. I guess that I live too close to city lights. This video was filmed in New Mexico. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpUzgKgb86w Edited December 15, 2009 by eternal light
The Rover
Lyrid Shower this morning, with peak between 4-6 am local time (Monday morning). Generally look in the SE sky. But the Moon's light will probably obliterate all but the very brightest of meteors. http://www.farmersalmanac.com/meteor-showers/ Edited April 22, 2013 by The Rover
redrum
Kinda hopeless in the Pacific Northwest. But last summer we saw the big Perseids shower. We layed on a mattress in the yard and enjoyed the show. :^)
