ledzepfilm
I just had to ask this, as I am listening to Moby Dick from RAH. Do you like that fat deep open sound of 69-70? Do you like that very ringy open deep sound of 71-72? Do you like the higher pitched toms and snare of 1973? Do you like the high pitched snare and deep tom sound of 1975? Do you like the dry sound of 1977? Or, do you like the thin or 1970 like sound of 1979 - 1980. Just had to ask this, every year his sound was unique. ledzepfilm
For me it's a hard choice. I have to go with the 71 - 72 era.
TheStairwayRemainsTheSame
Gotta be 69-70. LZ I - II changed drumming altogether. Sound AND skill wise.

sixpense
The maple kit by far was the best sounding drums. (Just listen to Were Gonna Groove or I Can't Quit You Babe from Coda) It was written in Chris Welsh's book that Bonzo regretted getting rid of that kit. ledzepfilm
Where is that kit currently? Is it in hands of a collector?
