Texas-based photographer Mark Bowman has launched a site to present a free online archive of unpublished on and offstage photographs he has taken through the years of some of the biggest names in rock, to include Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

Mark Bowman's humility and lifelong enthusiasm for the many artists and musicians he's photographed is remarkable. I certainly appreciate his endeavor very much and wish him continued success!

"It's time people see these shots.....! Keeping these things hidden is not right, I have concluded - especially when people see stuff for the first time that is fresh and new.... there seems to be EXCITEMENT and appreciation...." -- Mark Bowman

saj,

Please convey heartfelt thanks to Mark for his generosity of spirit in providing us with these rare photos - particularly as he is doing so free of charge.

Good morning, kenog

Mark Bowman reviewed the thread-starting post I made and expressed his approval. It would be nice if those who enjoy his free online archive could post a few words of encouragement and appreciation for him here and especially on his site. There is certainly something

to be said for his generosity of spirit, particularly during this era of watermarked galleries and high-end limited edition prints. Mark could

very easily have gone the same route, but instead he choose to offer some personal, exclusive photographs completely free for the fans!

I've corresponded with Mark Bowman through this forum so many thanks also to Sam for continuing to provide us all the electric magic!

Hi saj

I've posted a message to Mark on his site, and would urge others to do the same. I strongly advise members here to have a look at the site, because Mark has not just provided photos of Jimmy and Robert onstage and offstage, but many other band photos taken over his lengthy career. In addition to these, and the personal portraits of rock musicians, he has included a stunning collection of his world photography.

As you have suggested here, I have left a message for Mark - on that very candid photo of him and Jimmy taken in what appears to be a kitchen somewhere in England. It would be nice if others who enjoy the photos would also leave supportive comments for Mark.

I just wanted to express my thanks for all the kind comments relative to the new website... I will continue to add stuff and hopefully keep it interesting for those who want to return and check it out from time to time.... Here's a shot from the front row at the Houston gig on Feb 27, 1975 at the Sam Houston Coliseum.... (If only we could get some audio of ANY type from this show...! - It was truly one of the best, yet one of the most undocumented gigs of the 1975 tour and by all accounts - it was quite the smoker!!)

There are approximately 120 photos up now with hopefully something for everyone. Once again, thanks for all the kind words and appreciation and ENJOY!

Cool news and I was happy to hear this....

I found out today that Ultimate Classic Rock.com has nominated one of my photos for "Best Rock Photo" of the Summer of 2012... They have 6 photos up for nomination and mine (David Lee Roth in Full Flight) is in the lead so far! I hope this is an appropriate post and gives people a chance to cross reference and see the Zep and Robert or Jimmy Solo shots on the website...

I have an "Artist" page up to complement the sharing aspect of my site - I just posted a link to the survey on my Mark Bowman Images Facebook page.... Check it out - it's the most recent entry

P.S. Stay tuned for some new and unseen Robert and Jimmy shots from the Eighties, to be posted here and on the website.....!
