Brigante
'Tombstone hand and a graveyard mind.' Jim stalks the badlands at twilight. Southern Gothic, indeed. Primitive 2-track recording captures a more voodoo primal version than the more familiar Absolutely Live take. Krieger quite tentative, but Manzarek (eventually) adds fire and Densmore's totally in the groove throughout. This is 1967 and Jim's still got his 'early' voice - this is the one. Strider
Courtney Barnett...from Melbourne, Australia! The best thing to come out of Australia since...ummm, since Jules and Reggie. Or at least Tame Impala. Can't understand why the Aussie's on this Forum haven't been tubthumping for her. She's fantastic and this, her proper debut album, fully lives up to the promise her early EPs displayed. I fooking hate myself for missing her recent Roxy shows, but she is coming back to LA in October at the Hollywood Bowl. She is kind of like what would happen if PJ Harvey and Lucinda Williams had a love-child.
