Sunray782
The London fashion designer turned art specialist Paul Reeves—who in the 1970s was responsible for dressing Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones—has teamed with Sotheby’s London this month to host the two-part event “The Best of British: Design from the 19th and 20th centuries.” Seventy pieces from Reeves’s private collection, which covers the U.K.’s major aesthetic movements from the 1840s through the 1960s, are on view March 14 through 20 in a selling exhibition. A separate auction of 120 items that Reeves solicited from such clients as Spandau Ballet front man Gary Kemp and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page follows on March 20. Among the standouts hitting the block is a circa 1870 Smallhythe table by E. W. Godwin (est. £30–50,000; $59–98,000). The showstopper, though, is The Quest of the Holy Grail: The Achievement, a 24-foot-long tapestry by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones from Page’s collection. Woven in 1894, the work is expected to fetch £1 million ($1.96 million). Mangani
Thanks for that............although if he was the one who dressed Robert in that blue blouse with the poofy arms for the '73 tour then he should be slapped.

Imagescapegirl
That is an absolutely incredible work of art. I wish I had the means to obtain it! Well Jimmy still owns it - whether or not he withdrew it at the last minute or it didn't reach it's reserve I don't know. Personally, if I owned it, I couldn't bring myself to sell it. His beautiful stained glass windows did sell - of they had been mine, I couldn't have parted with those either. And some of the furniture he put in the sale and embroidery and curtain panels sold. I do love his taste in art and Gothic architecture.

Though, I would part with it if the money were going to a good cause, which is probably why Jimmy might do the same. Eh, who knows! I always like their style. I agree, I always loved their style no matter how outrageous it might seem in retrospect. The hair alone started an entire genre in music! Though, being a girl, I sometimes look at the shirts Robert wore and I wish I had that wardrobe!

nirvana
Robert was ALWAYS in touch with his inner feminine. He did the "chick" look with a very hippie cool about him - not in any way "gay". The seventies was all about personnal style - even if it meant going a bit drag to achieve results. But here he is today - still a Star...esp. with the hot women!
