Soccerzubs
I have always wondered right after the line that Robert Plant says, "Dogs of doom howlin' more" then there is kind of a howling sound, is that Jimmy's guitar or something else? lzfan715
That is a theramin. It's an intenana like thing that you can make noises with when moving your hand around it. They can do some pretty cool things.
Cactus
Yes, the theremin was used a lot in Sci-Fi movies and the like, but Page made different use of it by putting effects onto it. Nice little instrument.
SuperDave
Put to great use in Whole Lotta Love. Some pretty wild versions out there. HTWWW comes to mind as well as Hamburg in 1973. Also The Beach Boys used the theramin at the end of "California Girls".
Soccerzubs
Oh okay, thanks a lot, for the longest time I thought it was Jimmy's guitar because of the way he had his hands up right as the camera shifted to him from Plant.

jsj
the guitar isnt employed during the theramin section, but as the effect is very short in NQ he keeps his guitar on, as he mostly did whenever using the theramin, although there were occasions when during the longer theramin sections of later tours he did take his guitar off and concentrate on the theramin only
