  1. My husband and kids forgot it was my birthday today.
  2. I thought she got him shit-faced drunk before one of his concerts when he complained of a sore throat and she gave him a huge vodka/OJ and told him it would help his throat. Sorry for the run-on sentence.
  3. "Curb" and "The State" by Five Cents Change
  4. My computer died this week. I took it in and all that was wrong with it is the power source died. $29.00 later and it is fine. Woo Hoo!
  5. Annoying work-related conversations all around my desk area. What do they think this is, a workplace?
  6. Must stop reading this thread...getting all hot and bothered.
  7. Don't know if this has been mentioned, but on the Scooby Doo movie (the first one - the real movie, not one of the cartoons), there is a guy wearing a Led Zeppelin. They just keep showing him with that awesome shirt over and over.
  8. Well this show was spectacular. If this show ever comes to your area, you should really get tickets. Unfortunately, my husband is a truck driver and was sent out of town at the last minute and could not join me. I was so stinkin' disappointed. Tried to sell the tickets but no takers. I did finally go with my 8 1/2 year old rather than eat the cost of the tickets. Now he is a very mature 8 year old and likes Led Zeppelin, but again, unfortunately, he was coming down with the flu, unbeknownst to both of us. The show started at 8 and he was sound asleep leaning on my arm by 8:30, so we left at intermission. I have to tell you though, it is the closest I will ever come to hearing Led Zeppelin as I will ever get. They just nailed every single song and the lead singers delivery was so Robert Plant, yet, it didn't seem like he was trying all that hard to be Robert Plant. Don't know if that makes sense. Oh my word, The Rain Song was so beautiful. I did manage to hear Kashmir (my personal favorite song of all time) before we left, so I guess it wasn't a total loss. Having had to leave early and not being accompanied by my best friend (my husband), I almost wished they would have sucked. LOL! Loved, loved, loved seeing so many teenagers there. Their music carries on to another generation. Thanks for letting me share.
  9. I don't care what anybody says, that man at 63 is still so hot!!!! I love big cats!
  10. Got myself a bunch of Rush music lately. Listening for the first time and totally loving it! I'm so behind the times
  11. Never been a Rush fan, but I'm definitely open to the idea. I just think Tom Sawyer gets played too much like Stairway and Freebird, etc. However, I absolutely love Working Man. Must have that on my iPod. Would love to hear more to expand my horizons. Where to start?
  12. I was watching an episode of Gilmour Girls last night and Lane's cousin was going on and on about how cool Lane's room was. Lane has been strickly forbidden for years to listen to rock music so she hides her CD's in the floorboards of her room. Lane's cousin: I'd like to get into classic rock. What about Led Zeppelin? What's a good Zeppelin? 2 or 3? Three...that's Stairway to Heaven right? Lane yelling angrily: FOUR. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN IS FROM LED ZEPPELIN 4. IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET INTO CLASSIC ROCK, KNOW IT, DON'T BLOW IT!
  13. I laughed when I read that one of Page's favorites is SD. I actually have to confess to quite the diverse lineup on my iPod. Sometimes when I put it on shuffle, I think I must have multiple personalities that I truly, truly enjoy each and every one of the songs. So I don't want people to think I don't have diversity. The Doors CCR of course, Pink Floyd Robert & Alison Yes, I'll admit it, Creed AC/DC Aerosmith American Standard (great, great blues band) Beatles Black Crowes Blues Traveler Bobby Brown Bon Jovi (one song) Brandon Heath Brooks & Dunn Buddy Guy Bush (love, love, love them) Celine Dion Collective Soul The Cranberries Dan Fogelberg Deep Blue Something Derek & the Dominos Dire Straits Eagles En Vogue Eva Cassidy Fergie Finger Elevin Garth Brooks Hootie & the Blowfish Loverboy Lynyrd Skynyrd Marc Antoine Mat Kearney Metallica Neil Young Nicole C. Mullen One Republic Ozzy Ozbourne Rob Zombie Rolling Stones Sara Evans Trace Adkins Tracy Chapman Will Smith Wyclef Jean Young Dro My iPod isn't full yet. I kind of got stuck this year putting every LZ song on it and the rest got put on hold. You know what's funny is before I became involved in LZ, I was the hugest Metallica fan (from the Black album forward). I'm a late bloomer I guess. Anyway, I must have listened to the Load CD a million times. Now after spending almost 80% of 2008 listening to LZ or Robert & Alison, I find that when I go back to music I thought was "all that", I'm a little disappointed. I read on the "you know you're a LZ freak when..." thread that you listen to other music that you used to enjoy and something doesn't seem quite right. That's what happened to me this year. The musicianship (if that is a word) and the songwriting that used to send me with Metallica just isn't there for me anymore. Do I still enjoy it? Yes. Does it move me the way it used to? No. Hold on I'm getting to my point. Just like Yukon Cornelius does not like Country music, I cannot stand jazz. That just means I don't like it/get it. I'm open-mined enough to know that it is a legitimate genre that moves many people. The only genre I don't like is jazz, so you can see why I have such an aversion to SD. Their music sounds so disjointed and chaotic to me. It sounds like a bunch of musicians warming up before a concert and they are all playing a different song to warm up with. Funny story. When I was pregnant I had morning sickness while driving to work one day. I knew I had just a little while before I got to work and just had to hang on a little longer. I thought to myself if I could just think of something else to distract me from the way I was feeling I could make it. Well I looked down and my husband had left a SD tape in my car. I put it in hoping to distract myself by: 1) truly trying to understand the music and possibly developing an appreciation for it, or 2) being so revolted by it that it distracted me from the need to throw up You know what? It worked. I guess you don't need me to tell you that number 1 didn't work. Peace and love, Barb
  14. I think I found someone who agrees with me. LMBO!
  15. I haven't read all the posts so I don't know if anyone agrees with me. If not, that's okay. Just the other day in the other bands thread, a band was mentioned that I didn't particularly care for, but I figured, so what. If I don't like them then don't go to that thread. I consoled myself with the fact that at least no one has started a Steely Dan thread. I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT STAND THEM. THEY MAKE MY SKIN CRAWL. IF YOU EVER WANT TO TORTURE ME TO PUMP INFORMATION FROM ME, PUT ME IN A ROOM AND PLAY THEIR MUSIC AND I'LL SAY ANYTHING TO STOP THE MUSIC. I'm so sorry to be so outspoken about this and please don't flame me. I can see how die hard Zep fans like other bands, but honestly, I can't see how a die hard Zeppelin fan can also care for SD's music. Truly, I don't get it. When my husband and I are out and about and there is a juke box, I, of course, play some Zep tunes. Just to be funny he plays SD and adds extra money to the machine to bump my Zep. Funny guy heh! No seriously, please don't take my comments as an offense. I just couldn't keep quiet!
  16. I was shopping for a birthday present for my son who is attending a birthday party today. I saw the entire line of Thomas the Tank Engine toys. The one that jumped out at me was Percy! LMBO! Okay, not a direct LZ sighting, but it did make me laugh.
  17. The Music of Led Zeppelin. It's a cover band doing all Zeppelin tunes backed by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. I love rock music being played in its original form and being backed by an orchestra. Going to see this in February. I saw Kansas do this once and I loved it when Metallica did it too. So powerful!
