  1. I cannot think of a song like ALS anwhere in popular music, to me its very very original and in Rock music thats a hard thing to do as there is usually some sprt of crossover...Epic !!
  2. Nice and moody song, if only Dio and Blackmore would reunite .

    AC/DC

Roll on June and Wembley Stadium
  4. Thing is it isn't as complex as people seem to think, its an epic though from the opening Em9 arppegio to Page's incredible guitar solo..
  5. WE have nbeen talking about that in the thread....honest
  6. More in depth reason why Blackmore's Night formed: (from Wiki) QUOTE The origins of the band lie in 1989 when Candice Night was working at a local New York rock music radio station. She first encountered Ritchie Blackmore, then with Deep Purple, at a football game in which he was playing. The two became romantically involved and discovered that they shared a passionate interest in the Renaissance. After leaving Deep Purple in 1993 and recording the album Stranger in Us All in 1995, on which Night contributed backing vocals and some of the lyrics, Blackmore became interested in the idea of bringing Renaissance music to a contemporary audience. Night's personality and singing ability made her the natural choice as "frontwoman." In 1997 the pair were ready to launch the band, the name being a pun of their own names, and which would consist of themselves plus session musicians. Yes if he is in a happy place with it all then as a musician thats cool !!!
  7. I said it before but it is my opinion Page's best guitar solo onthis track ( I know alot of people feel SIBLY is his best, but thats in a blues format which has been done a million times, although not as good as Page on it), its so musical, full of feel, a little different and oozes Page's class when constructing a solo where every note means something . It blows me apart everytime, the same as EVH Beat it solo (for different reasons) but they make me stop and listen in awe at them.
  8. I know and the thing is if I want to see Blackers close up, I will need to dress up as a minstral as I think they get the tickets at the front !! Oh God has it come to this ??? Thing is though Blackmore does what he wants and I guess if he wanted to be back with Purple or Rainbow then he would.
  9. Do wew think that they will get back together with the classic Gabriel lineup again next year ???...that would be cool and would like to see that . The Collins lead lot did a few good things..ie some good songs but a bit polished, i saw them on a bill at Knebworth 1990 but it didn't really rock my boat. But the pre 75lineup would great to see in my mind, my friend saw them twice with Gabriel and said they were geat..lets see if its going to happen.
  10. For me its not a case of him playing the acoustic, half of Zep's music is acoustic and love it. I think my problem lots of others is that with BK it all looks like a nativity play and a joke :, but hey I know I will go at some point and then I really can have an opinion then. Blackmore is and always be the most exciting guitarist to me that I have seen
  11. Good post, I have to say I have read sad reviews of BK and haven't been able to bring myself to see him. I saw the clips you sent and I can see I think he would really like to rock out . As time goes by I know if I am ever to see the great Blacmore I will need to go to BK gig thinking oh dear, but the day is coming. The clip of JR Blackmore you posted is the first time I have heard him. Have to say he has his dads expressive playing, I liked his playing and hope like you the rainbow Rising go to more than

  14. Ah Mudworth 85, what a horrible wet day, the wettest June day ever I reckon, but Purple were great, funny in 87 I saw them at Wembley and Birmingham and thought the shows were really good ....happy days

    AC/DC

Last time I saw them was in 91 at Donnington and it was great, its been to long and i am armed and ready to click buy tomorrow morning to get Wembley tickets
  16. Sorry you feel like that, I agree Purple with Blackmore was an exciting band and I do miss those days and gigs but I have seen Purple a couple of times with Morse on guitar and although he does have a boring kinda onstage persona, he is stunning as a guitarist and some of the Morse era songs rock . I do however hope that Blackmore and co would get together again, but I don't think thats going to happen .
  17. Here is the Remastered Stormbringer project progress report...its coming out early next year http://www.deep-purple.net/features/stormb...tormbringer.htm

Yes thats going to be good, Got a gig on Sat 27 June in Brighton but looks like I will be going to London the Day before to Wembley
  19. Cool they were masters of it. Making it loud hasn't got anything to do with it, if its a one min piece or a 25 mins, alot of bands today want to just cram it with notes, they write the songs so if they want to play one note instead of 8 in the second they can. Dont get me wrong I love a bit of thrash and speed (and guilty of it myself when playing, but not all the time) but thats all it seems to be, not alot of contrast. Thats what sets Zep and Floyd apart from the wannabees I guess .
  20. Love the song, loved that album when it came out, I think i should go an listen to it, bet it sounds dated though.
  21. Have to dissagree to some extent as I think the Rolling Stones are the most overrated band. Floyd with Barret was very inovative..broke new groud, then he went, give them their due , songs like Echoes and DSOTM also was very groundbreaking, so for that alone they deserve alot of credit. Their use of space in the music giving it time to breath , build up was a great thing in some of their music, in a day and age where people feel they have to cram every millisecond with a note or notes just in case thay have to actually feel the music and time..they still can still do it for me every now and then.
  22. I prefer his to JLT, JLT is to pure for me...although Dio was perfect I thought for Blackers.
