  1. Thanks BD and Chase......my daughter just came by to show me the sonagram pics. Definately twins and definately boys. They already look like they are having a boxing match. I am so happy for her and terrified for her at the same time. This will be it for her when they are born. She already has three other children.
  2. Quoting myself because I found out today its TWINS!!!! Both boys.......
  3. What a nice gesture by JJ Abrams. So sad though. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/star-trek-fan-dies-jj-408899 Every weekend now my daughter brings home Star Trek collectibles. Pretty soon she will need an extra room just for all the goodies. She loves her new job.
  4. Gotta have my cup of coffee in the am. I have cut back a bit from my 20 oz to a 16 oz. Usually have it with some International Delight creamer. Any flavor will suffice. Have a cup of tea in the afternoon. Usually some flavored black or green tea depending on my mood. Been working on some seasonal Harvest Pumpkin Spice tea. And some herbal tea in the evening during this cold weather.
  5. Decided to try the traditional southwest Christmas thing this year of making some homemade tamales. Made pork ones and even some vegetarian ones for my daughter. Tasted the vegetarian ones and turned out pretty good. Can't wait for the Christmas eve spread.
  6. The question was whether Zeppelin fans also like the Dead or not, not pitting one against the other in a contest. There is no comparison. To me they are two different genres of music. I saw the GD in 76 and found them to be a bit boring. I guess it's the rocker chick in me that prefers something more hard hitting to the brain cells.
  7. I know there are more important things in this world to be worrying about and people are greiving but I am so fucking dissappointed with Swiss Colony. I just cancelled my order that I placed on Dec 1, plenty of time for shipment for Christmas presents. I checked twice on line and nothing was shown being shipped so I finally emaiedl them monday. I finally got a response today informing me that they mailed out a snail mail letter to verify my income for the credit account with them. Now I checked the catalog they sent me. It shows that I am pre approved and nothing about pending a credit check. The account was approved for 400. and I spent 160. We checked my po box on monday and haven't received any letters from them and they didn't have a phone number for me. If I recall that was one of the required fields to fill out when placing the order but the rep showed a number I haven't had for at least 5 years and that the credit department probably pulled it off of the net from some old white pages. Now I could of taken care of the problem with the rep on the phone and then paid extra rush shipping on top of the already approx 35. for s&h. No way. Cancel it and I'll figure out other options. Thanks for letting me vent. Merry Christmas!!!
  8. Today I celebrate 27 years married to my hubby. Still happy as ever.
  9. Listening to Get The Led Out playing Celebration Day on my way home from work. Really brought up my depressed mood.
  10. It seems that ones that were built prior to 2008 have capacitor issues (our tv picture just blinked out, still have sound tho, and cannot access any menu programs) that will be covered by Samsung. Our model looks to fall into the right catagory. If we read it right, the settlement was March 2012 and consumers have 18 months to file a claim. We will be calling today to find out more. I just hope that it does, cuz with Christmas and property taxes this month I can't afford to buy a new one or even pay to get this one fixed right now. You can go here...... http://www.samsung.c...itorsettlement/ for more ino
  11. My Samsung TV died. Thats the bad news. The good news is that it may be covered in a class action suit by Samsung. Hopefully.
  12. First poster revealed advertising the new movie. http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/12/03/star-trek-into-darkness-poster/
  13. I want to learn the art of making good biscuits from scratch. Anyone have any good tips. I made a batch from my cook book last night and while they were acceptable they could use improvement. I know you are not suppose to work the flour too much after you add the wet ingredients and that's probably what I need to work on. Will use my hands instead of utinsils next time. It may take a few attempts with tweaking to make some really good biscuits.
  14. Wasn't sure if I should post this news in what made me happy, but decided to dredge up this thread as I have a feeling that Star Trek will be in my life more prominently for a while. My daughter just signed a contract with CBS to combine two of her obsessive passions. Star Trek and organizing She will be working to pack and move and then set up a new warehouse of Star Trek merchandise and memorabilia. The perfect job for her. Hopefully it will open a more permanent job for her down the road. Who else would be more suited to monitor the collection then the person who is setting it up. She is happy beyond belief and I am happy for her. But a little sad too, as she will be moving to the LA area in the new year. But it's time, and as it should be. Her first day on the job monday will already be presenting her with some perks. She will be attending a launch party for The Original Series Soundtrack. http://www.trektoday.com/content/2012/11/original-series-soundtrack-celebration/
  15. I can't have Thanksgiving or Easter without making Dill Bread. The family would riot if I didn't. I make my dough in the bread maker machine and then finish the second part by hand. Mix 1 pkg active dry yeast with 1/4 c. warm water. `Add 2 tlbs sugar, 1 tsp. salt 1 c. sour cream (full fat, not light) 1/4 c. minced onion, 1 tlbs dill weed, 1 egg, 2 tlbs olive oil and 2-3 c. flour. Mix in bread maker or knead 8-10 minutes and let rise 1 1/2 hr until double. Punch down and let rest 10 minutes. Divide into 3 pieces and make each piece into an 18' rope and braid, pressing ends under. Cover and let rise 30 minutes. Combine 1 egg yolk with 1 tsp water and brush the surface and then sprinkle with poppy and/or sesame seeds. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.
  16. So sorry Ally to hear of your friends passing. Losing friends slaps you into the reality of our own mortality. Fool in the Rain...sorry to hear of your freinds passing too. Cancer sucks.
  17. Yep.....did a bit of that myself a few days ago. My daughter works at a company that gives her designated shopper, ME, 30% off at Bed Bath and Beyond and Cost Plus World Market, so I took advantage of some early shopping. Got about half of it done.
  18. Going out to watch my brother-in-law sand drag race his rail out at Soboba Casino.
  19. Rick Derringer tomorrow, 11/3. Been looking forward to this.
  20. Happy Birthday to justawoman. Hope you had a good one.
  21. A seal in our reverse osmosis system under the sink had been leaking for who knows how long and woke up to puddles running through the kitchen and under the wood floor in the breakfast nook. Cleaned up the water and will have to tend to the system today. New seals and filters. Hopefully the wood floor will not warp from the moisture caught underneath. Good reason to clean out under the sink and the catch all plastics cupboard where the tank is housed.
  22. Well one must find motivation where they can, so a fitness thread sounds like a good idea. This is a thread for ladies with issues, and I am sure there are a few of the guys here that need some fitness motivation so a separate thread should be started. I did not find one just for fitness when I searched. Let's get motivated. I need help.
